As warned last week, today we have a smaller update than usual, but I’m hopeful there will be something for most people.
For PS3 users we have got the NBA 2K10 demo available properly (we had some issues first time we tried to release this for you) and the Hextadon pack for Brütal Legend arrives and is free to all for the first two weeks of release, so don’t miss out on this offer. LittleBigPlanet celebrates its anniversary with two pieces of free content; they will only be around for one week, so grab them whilst you can.
The highlight this week for PSP users must be Ghostbusters surely? However, this is followed by two other full games – Dragoneer’s Aria and Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron. We also have another mini making its way to the store in the form of Spot the Differences!
If the new content doesn’t take your fancy this week, then check out the new batch of special offers – it’s a good opportunity to grab some content you may have missed previously, and at reduced prices too.
Finally there’s also an additional piece of content making an appearance on Tuesday (the 10th of November)…more details to follow.
That’s your lot this week.

can I suggest a ‘be nice to Mike K week’ this week.. he did warn us we’d only get a small update, and he does take a lot of unfair criticism…
Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 12:32 pm by Mike Kebby
Thanks for the sentiment Mightyowl28
I am happy to take feedback and act upon it, discuss it where possible, all I ask is that people be pleasant, informed and willing to listen when commenting to me/responding to me. Also, I’ve got to reason to lie to people, and where I can be transparent I certainly will be.
Let’s promote harmony here, but of course have feedback and discussion where appropriate
(Of course this week there won’t be much, because I won’t be sticking around long – stooopid cold/flu thing)
Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 12:34 pm by Mike Kebby
I just saw an eror there I meant to type “I’ve got NO reason to lie to people”
Now I look like I liar because I missed the no out the first time around.
Jem, let me edit my comments

The Command And Conquer titles would be fine if they weren’t over a gig in size, and you could actually save your game. But instead you’re stuck with an annoying password system… and the games run at double the speed of the PC originals, so tactics basically go out the window.
Syphon Filter Combat ops would be a better bet except nobody plays the damn thing so you won’t have any opponets.

Hey, I have a cold too! When’d you get it Mike? Also, I don’t think the update is too shabby, I like the amount of PSP content
Are you guys still trying to get all the old PSP games on the store though?

Why did I buy a PSPgo?
I downloaded the GT Theme on 2nd October and I still don’t have Gran Turismo. SCEE have broken the terms of their offer. I feel robbed.
Oh and the usual MGS, FFVIII, SCEE neglects PAL consumers blah blah blah.

mike please tell us if their is any news on ff8 please?

Tuesday’s content will be for PS3 users.

Party Time with Winnie the Pooh. Seriously? This is what you want PS3 owners to talk about to those thinking of getting a PS3? “Well among playing BluRays and PS3 games you can also play PSOne classics such as PartyTime with Winnie The Pooh”
Mike, i like you mate, i really do, but come ooooooooon!!! Its almost like your taking the mickey a little..
Dont get me wrong i knew this weeks update wont be anything to shout out about but god, please. PSOne deserves more then getting treated like this m8. Its wrong. PSOne started something revolutionary and how SCEE thank it is give us “Pooh” games… literally? omg.
Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 12:41 pm by Mike Kebby
I don’t decide what titles to put onto the store, I understand your comments, but I won’t take responsilibity for the titles offered – I am trying to help get more ‘classics’ onto the store, but publishers decide what they want to release – I can only help gently prod in the right places.
Also, whilst I understand that it’s great to have PSone Classics to play on the PS3, is that really the reason you bought a next generation console? Don’t forget, there are loads of great PSN titles, and blu-ray games available

Decent update considering the circumstances, free stuff is always welcome! I actually might be tempted by Siren too (did I mention I love this new Special Offers system you have running now!)
I had to LOL at the Party Time with Winnie the Pooh PSOne Classic though! I’m sure you put those up just to wind up the complainers!!! They demand Resi Evil and FFVII and you post up The Little Mermaid and Winnie the Pooh!!! Hilarious!
Nice way to tease us with the bonus Tuesday update though! Can you narrow it down to PSP or PS3 related? Anything to do with the new Video Store? Mind you, whatever it is people will find a reason to complain.
@ Everyone else – We’ve know for a week this would be a limited update because of a behind closed doors upgrade of some kind so please [DELETED]!
P.S. Get well soon Mike!

Second: When will the ‘I ♥ Mike Kebby’ and ‘Mike Kebby Fanclub’ T-shirts hit Playstation Home?

Do you know if Ghostlight have submitted any dlc for Agarest by any chance? I won’t be offended if you’re not allowed to answer or you have no idea what the 2 are. XD

I cant reccomend super sonic acrobatic rocket (pause for breath) powered battle cars enough at £3.99. amazingly fun online which is still really busy after almost a year, free extra maps to download..
and if you like being scared [DELETED] whilst playing your games.. Siren is amazing, highly underrated imo

Nice price point for Dragoneer’s Aria. It’s got mixed reviews but for €15 I can afford to take a chance on what is an obscure RPG. €15 is pretty much the right price for non-mainstream games like this, hope more publishers see sense when pricing similar games.

Oh Mikeface forgot to ask.
I saw Jem at the Darksiders event last week (I was one of the lucky 10 that got to go) were you with him? there was a guy there but didn’t know if it was you… i was tempted to shout MIKEFACE but decided not to

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars (epic name) is a no brainer at £3.99. I’ll be sure to pick that up; the trial was good fun.
Another good update on the whole this week.
Let’s not forget that there are some fantastic retail releases coming out within the next few days! R&C:ACiT is an awesome game and a must buy for fans of the series; it’s another fantastic title from the guys at Insomniac. Also, I hear that a little game called MW2 is out next week.
Thanks, and keep up the good work guys.

Tuesdays content will be one if not more dynamic themes of Modern Warfare 2. Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward states ‘PS3 owners needn’t fret either: “we’re working on some Dynamic Themes for PS3 as well. I’ll be sure to post a preview when they’re going out,”.
Theres all the confirmation you need
Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 12:43 pm by Mike Kebby
Let me quash this rumour now – there are no dynamic themes coming on Tuesday

Looking past the fact that i sold my PSP 2000 for less than it was worth. Ignore the fact that i got rid of my favourite games for it and have to re buy them. And see past the fact that i have to pay top money for PSP games that are cheaper elsewhere…….
….the fact is i cant even by PSP games for my PSP Go. What a shambles!!!! Looks to me like Sony are going to treat PSP games like nintendo treat Virtual Consoles titles, only worse.

Mike said; Also, whilst I understand that it’s great to have PSone Classics to play on the PS3, is that really the reason you bought a next generation console?
No this is why we bought a PSP along with a PS3.

@ kap . totally agree with u m8 , mike im really starting to think scee are taking the mick out of us with the ps1 games ur putting up i mean last 6 or 7 ps1 games have been for KIDS . ps3 isnt a kids console m8 so what gives im losing all faith in scee now with store we plough money into it only to get kicked in the nuts everytime a ps1 game comes out . ps3 is a hardcore gamers machine with average age from 18 to 36 im sure i read . STOP BRINGING OUT KIDS GAMES CMON MAN. thats just put me right of spending on store now
Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 12:54 pm by Mike Kebby
If Disney want to bring out all their PSone titles to the store, we’re not going to say ‘no thanks, we don’t want your content’ are we? People buy them, so it would not be wise to say no to a revenue stream there.
I am in total agreement that we need more variety in the PSone titles we release on the store though, and we are trying hard to get more titles released in the future.

Honestly, I was expecting much less O.o
Not because “I’m used to bla bla bla” but because of Mike’s warning.
I vote yes for the ‘be nice to Mike week’ but I think I’m always nice to Mike.
It’s also nice to see games below 40€ for a change. Too bad Star Wars broke the momentum… Will have to google around for Dragoneer’s Aria
Is Tuesday’s content Europe-only or it will also come on the same day for USA?

Mike,
Any chance of a blog on the details and difficulties of getting the old PSP games up on the store? A lot are available on the US store, but I would much rather buy then on the EU store if they would only give me the choice. Giving us poor users a run over of the difficulties involved would at least be a bone!

Hi Mike, really likely the weekly free Eyepet content at the moment.
Just wondering if you were going to do a release schedule for psp games coming out or a preview of which games our coming to the store? There’s a lot of great PSP games (little big planet, f1 2009, assassins creed, jak and daxter, invizimals) coming out but there doesn’t seem to be any information anywhere on when.
Thanks

lol yea mike we have an agenda we basically want games other regions have so we can BUY them off u . lmao m8 u should listen to your customers we want to buy this stuff u knw part with the MONEYS . agenda mike i knw ur unwell bt that was terrible wording
Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 1:06 pm by Mike Kebby
Not bad wording at all, there are posters who who truly believe that we don’t want to release content, there is no reason why this would be true.
We don’t sit on content, if publishers where to give us all the content you want, we would release it – that was my point. I think some people believe I don’t listen, or don’t want to help – which is as FAR from the truth as is possible.
I know what you all want, I am trying to help you get what you want, but sometimes things are out of our hands, and rest with the publishers (or the specific reasons barring why they cannot themselves give us content).
96
Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 1:03 pm by kizalini
Mike,
I never realised you personally released all the content onto the store each week ???
That’s the impression I get from all the people putting the blame solely on you each week; when all you ever did was set up a “heads-up” to advise what was coming to the store each week!!
Me personally; I bought my PS3 for PS3 games and BluRays only … anything that appeared in store was just an added bonus.
The fact that people come here EVERY week and complain about the lack of PS1 classics is ridiculous… and they threaten to get rid of their PS3 because of the lack of old games!! You seriously need to wake up and get with the Next Generation!!
Mike, you are a good guy and you do a good job. Keep up the good work.
Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 1:08 pm by Mike Kebby
Didn’t you know, I control all the publishers and personally decide on every single bit of content that gets released…

Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 1:06 pm by rossthebassist
Mike i havent posted a comment in a little while. but im sorry your feeling unwell and hope you feel better.
im in agreement disney PSone classics… not for me. pretty much the free brutal legend pack is enough for me to give this a 5 star update. because we have it for free. xbox users have to pay points… free content is always the best. but also Ghostbusters PSP. for me this content isnt raining. its a slight drizzel with a glimmer of sunshine.
just out of intrest, i may have heard somthing about a battlefield bad company 2 exclusive beta for the PS3…. coming very very soon… could that be tuesdays content?
98
Posted on 5 November, 2009 at 1:06 pm by Jnordg
Crap update as usual with content for all the little crap games.
On another note; i find myself EXTREMELY annoyed on a little ‘feature’ that was introduced with 3.0. Namely the fading thing in the menus, where if you are scrolling through your music and stop on a song, all the other songs/albums fades away after 2 SECONDS! Jesus christ, who came up with this? Because of this you have to scroll constantly like a mental pasient just to get a glance at what music you have on the PS3. It’s stupid, it’s a bad idea. I refuse to believe i am the only one who finds this completely useless. I guess it was implemented to make the menus and the PS3 more ‘cool’ and ‘hip’. Well the only effect it has, is ruin the user experience!
