Hi All,
I’m Gordon Van Dyke and I’m the Associate Producer for Battlefield: Battlefield Bad Company 2 here at EA’s DICE studio in Stockholm.
Today we’re excited to announce that our forthcoming multiplayer beta is coming exclusively to PS3, so you’ll have a chance to experience all the action, destruction and vehicular warfare ahead of our full release on the March 2010.
Starting on November 19th the beta will feature the huge ‘Arica Harbour’ map where up to 24 players compete to secure valuable crates in the ‘Rush’ game mode as the action moves across a variety of different locations. From an initial vehicle assault on a military outpost the war winds through streets of a deserted town to an intense final fire-fight in an industrial harbour.

Getting access to the beta will differ from country to country but here are a few specific ways of getting hold of a key…
- We’ll be holding a special limited giveaway right here on the Playstation Blog
- Pre-ordering the game at participating retailers
- Checking out selected gaming sites such as IGN or Gamespot in North America.

Can Dice please answer a simple question for me? I loved battlefield bad company online. Except a few months into the game, I could never EVER reach a server to play, it was always ‘no available servers’ and I’d spend 15 min just trying to get into a game, it was ridiculous.
I hope you fixed that in BC 2.

Hi. This of course not the experience we want our players to have. (Or ourselves to have, since we internally are looking forward to play this in a live environment more than anything)
The matchmaking system is rebuilt and enhanced for BC2, and I agree those 15 minutes are absolutely better spent on the battlefield blowing stuff up.

i’ll definitely be getting this game, need to know which UK stores will have the beta access promotion. at minute, none of game, amazon, play, shopto, etc have any such promotion.
i was hoping for more than 8 multiplayer maps though (in the final product), or even if more maps will be available as dlc (and i don’t mean differently orientated versions of the same map

Screenshots look amazing!
Graphics look much improved, or is that just because there is no grain filter on?
Talking of which, does BFBC2 have a grain filter like the 1st one?

Respect for answering me, Kristoffer.
I’m really disappointed with Battlefield 1943 because of the mic issues. I’ll wait for the beta testers to give their insight about this one, thanks
(And yes, if by any cosmic ray I’m able to gain a code, I’ll be testing squads and mics thoroughly too)

Yes :] , thx for this upcoming experience. I always liked BF games , started at BF2142 [ pure awesomenes ) , then moved on to BF:BC , then BF 1943 and now looking to this.

YEES! Must have this! Had the beta in the first game, and still plays the full version! =D It’s a really great game! Can’t wait for the sequel! I’ve got a PS3, but why isn’t it coming to the 360?

i’ve been playing batlefield for years on the PC. i never thought id make the tranition from pc to ps3 but i loved the first one on ps3 and have been enjoyin battlefield 1943 too. looking forward tothis one now.
I’d a return of the defibrillator. i loved the medic class in bf2 and bf 2042 but ive been usung assault since ive been playing on ps3. anyone know what the classes might be?

Hi. The classes are Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon. The support kit is carrying the defibrillator, together with medpacks and a light machine gun. It’s a real combat medic and absolutely my personal favorite. Except possibly Engineer. And maybe Recon, the mortar strikes are awesome. I also love the Assault kit. Argh, they’re all fun.

played the game today at ea’s winter showcase .. loved it.. as always another BF game that i think current fans will LOVE and also bring new players over.. loved the game alot!
Ps3 version was playing and it was running great

Have always loved the Battlefield games, adn even though the beta starts 9 days after MW2 comes out, I’m sure a lot of people will be playing it, including me.

I would love to get a beta code!! I have been following the progress of this game and truly believe the end product is going to be awesome. The destructable enviroment and physics look so good even when compared to the first BB>BC, keep up the good work guys, I have nothing but respect for hard working devs who push for their game to be the best they can be. Hopefully if I get a code somehow from somewhere I’ll see you online.

wow this is a great surprise. I bought BF:BC last week as I saw how amazing BC2 looks and the online is amazing! Been playing it non-stop, it does so much stuff right. Thank you for making the game and I look forward to BC2 beta and game very much.

Best of luck to all the guys at DICE with the upcoming Beta test. Every battlefield game is awesome and I am proud of my veteran rank. But nothing beats Bad Company, still is awesome online. I hope you guys retain ‘Conquest’ in BF:BC2? that IS Battlefield IMO.

Absolutely! Conquest will be in there, and also Rush which you will recognize from Bad Company 1.
Bad Company 2 will have a total of four game modes, btw.

Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God, Can’t wait that day will come. BFBC was my first BF experience, and I like it so much that all other FPS is nothing for me now. Can’t wait for March want this game right here and right now, hope somehow win the key.

I got Battlefield 1945 shouldn’t i get into the beta automatically.
Why cant we have “download themes on PSN” (US) and get a chance to join betas?
So hard to find places there they give away beta codes.
