Hi Adam,

are their quite a few down the pipe for the rest of 2009 and 10?

Hi there
Glad you like them, there are some great games in the minis category.
We do have a steady stream of minis titles coming for the rest of the year and into 2010!

great post, u actually turned my apathy into a bit of interest. not that i had anything against the idea of minis, just havent had any exposure to any that interested me. The blurbs of urs for a few caught my eye like brainpipe and fieldrunners. Don’t think tetris is on the aussie store

@Suzzopher
You beat me to it!
I was just about to ask the same thing..where is Pac-man CE?
The game was listed as a launch Mini and slowly disappeared…I hope its still coming though, that is the only Mini I am particularly interested in

oh are you guys also thinking implementing a User rating system? so people who have bought the game can rate it?
I don’t see many reviews for Mini’s (or at least.. a lack of buzz) so it might be good to get users to pass their own opinions like with the Apple App Store and Android Store.
just a thought ^_^

Hiya,
There were actually quite a few reviews. Both Eurogamer and Pocketgamer did a large number of reviews (including for our own title Kahoots) which through a combination of our own push and that of Sony has yielded a great deal of excellent feedback (certainly from our POV).
So for example (and apologies if this comes over as a rather crass attempt to plug our own stuff), we’ve been able to add a whole press section to savethekahoots (http://www.savethekahoots.com/press/index.html) which shows all our reviews, but because the availability in the US is still pending, the IGN’s, Gamespot’s, 1UP’s of the internet are yet to evaluate the title.
Obviously I’m approaching from the perspective of our own stuff, I cannot speak for my fellow developers.

Some of those Mini’s look really good, sort of makes me wonder how these (and similar iPhone games) can be sold for a few quid but a PS3 version of a puzzle game (which in some cases are near identical) costs £7.99, with a few notable exceptions like Numblast (which ironically I find more fun than some of the £7.99 puzzlers). You should launch a Mini’s scheme for PS3 too, similar to the indie game thing they do on XBLA.
I think the idea of the Store having user ratings for these small independent games is a good one too, if their game is good enough they shouldn’t need to worry about the ratings – a bit like finding a good 5-star level in LBP. It would be quite simple to police, you can only vote if you’ve paid for/downloaded the game and each PSNID is limited to 1 vote per purchase. It’s the next best alternative to offering demos/trials
They do it on the iPhone and many other sites that have downloadable content, and lot’s of e-tailers have a voting system of physical purchases too, so why not add a rating/review system to the PSN Store?

I bought and enjoyed Kahoots (had me glued until I’d finished it 100%) and Break Quest is tempting me.

Glad you enjoyed it!

MINIs worth downloading are:
Tetris
Breakquest
Kahoots
Pinball Fantasies
Fieldrunners
Red Bull X-Fighters
Ones to avoid:
Alien Havoc
Funky Punch
(Obviously my opinion as well as that of many review sites like Videogamer.com)

I can’t recommend BreakQuest and Vempire enough! They’re great games, definately worth the £2.50 price.
Fortix is so-so.
Sudoku and Tetris are good minis to have on there too.
Brainpipe… give it a miss. It’s certainly original but let down hugely by the loose controls
Kahoots is quite a fun game too, even if the cutesy graphics annoying yowl at the end of every level get’s a bit much at times.

Is it possible to play Minis directly on PS3 ? I don’t have PSP, but I’d want to play some of those funky little games
If not, maybe you’ll allow it in (near) future ?

Please please please reply – I have posted several times on another thread and I have emailed twice…
I still have not received my download codes for GT PSP and the 3 free games. I registered the ‘GO! before the 10th of October and still nothing.
Please contact me because at the moment I am being completely ignored.
Cheers..

@ Post #3 – tetris is available on the Aussie store, however you have to access the minis section through the link on the whats new page – this is the only way to get Tetris to appear, I can confim this 100% as i have purchased, downloaded and transferred to my PSP

I would call the customer support service. That is, most likely, the best way to contact Sony and get an immediate reply.

I heartily recommend KAHOOTS for it’s quirkyness alone. A shining example of what other minis can aspire to be!
Unfortunately i found my other purchase, BreakQuest to be practically unplayable. This makes me sad (a) cos i have a soft spot for the brickout genre and (b)as far as i know the mini’s are not going to be patched
Nice to see a full list of minis but maybe a little bit more description would be nice – for instance i’m not clear on what zombie apocalypse is…

@23
I think I know what you mean about the controls in BreakQuest, but have you tried adjusting the sensitivity by any chance? I use the analog stick for fast movements and the d-pad for smaller tweaks. BreakQuest is one of my favourite minis, some of the levels and power ups are just fantastic.
Next on my list to buy is Zombie Tycoon. I’ll have to consider Circles Circles Circles too.
This is a great idea for a blog post Adam, hope we can see one every month or two.

Sony should make a PSP Phone. I prefer to play such games on a phone, and i guess there would be countless people to buy a PSP Phone. SCE Team up with Sony Ericsson, i know you can do it. make.believe!

I’d really like to point out that the Zombie Tycoon screenshot shown in the post is a really old screenshot that doesn’t do justice to the actual look and feel of Zombie Tycoon.
As for reviews, take a look at what people are saying about Zombie Tycoon:

http:/ /psp.about.com/od/games/gr/zombie-tycoon-psp-minis-review.htm

And here’s even a video review that show actual gameplay:

Nice post, it actually convinced me to buy Kahoots (the idea of it as a destination for iphone ports totally put me off previously) but I don’t regret it one bit. Very nice game.
