FINAL FANTASY XIII – The Time Has Come

Is this set in the same “universe” as any of the other games (I havn’t played a FF from start to finish since FFIX)and will it be easy for new fans to jump in and know whats going on?

I was expecting a bit more than that.

I was hoping for.

1. A demo,
2. FF VIII release date,
3. December release date

Sad we didn’t get any of these.

@ 101: Each game is completely separate from the last, so you won’t need any previous experience to enjoy it

theshepanator, all the main numbered final fantasy titles are totally independent games with their own world and characters.
there have been a few true sequels but this is not one of them.

Will there be an option for Japanese voices? Bluray is big enough for it, I think.

I haven’t been interested in an FF game for some time now; I was disappointed with FF XII, and I’m not feeling FF XIII.

I don’t like how Mr.Kitase lied to the fans when he said there would be NO compromises but the PS3 version will not have the Japanese voices with English subtitles because, well, it can’t fit on the Xbox 360 and since they want to be “fair” to both platforms, then they won’t put it on the PS3 as well, regardless if it can afford to have the Japanese audio track or not. Which it totally can.

We bought their games since the PSone and we PS owners gave them the green light after the succses of FFVII and after all these 3 years you cant release one single game on PS3 which even it´s multi-platform

Wanted to add, i’m looking forward for this game, will buy it day 1, like every FFs since i am 10, but… please, put japanese track in the bluray, don’t delete it to us just because it doesn’t fit in 360′s dvd9s, i’ll buy it anyways, but be fair with us

Wow that’s got to be one of the most elaborate release date announcements ever! Who was the presenter, an actor or someone who works at SQUENIX Europe?

Also since this was a dual US/EU announcement I hope to god that they used the European dating convention and not the US one that is normally used for games and movies – otherwise they’ve just announced it’s coming out on the 3rd September 2010!!!!!

The gameplay clip looked a bit uninspiring if I’m honest, the only FF I really got into and finished was FFVII (and would buy a HD remake in a heart beat), I bought FFVIII for PC and FFXII for PS2 but got bored of them really quickly. The new clip looks like more of the same and doesn’t live up to the early CG trailers of fight sequences that were supposedly in game (back when it was a PS3 exclusive). I’m not saying that’s the 360′s fault, it’s just always been the way FF has been marketed. I may skip this and wait for FFvsXIII and see what they can do with a true exclusive that sounds like it’s taking a different approach to the usual FF formula…

what the hell, in march, i thought gran turismo 5 is coming out in march , both in the same month, thats fu fu!, well thats me assuming that we get it in march!

I’ve just checked the US version of the site and sure enough their version of the trailer has 03.09.2010, so it definitely means March!

However, I’ve also just checked the My Hands single on YouTube and I’ve got to see it’s pretty ‘meh’, I’m not seeing how it fits in with the FF universe…

As far as cash-in’s on Simon Cowell’s reality TV stars go I think I prefer Adam Lambert’s attempt at the 2012 theme song, also that one lyrically fits with the movie rather than just being a random track off his album.

I WAS a Huge fan of SE(SQUERSOFT)-products, hell i even bought there Merchindise.

But i will dont support them , i will Buy FF13 it used.
And believe me The Game itself is dumed down only to fit on a last Gen DVD(360).

They Abandoned there LOYAL FANBASE, Star Ocean 4 and Last Remnant comes to my mind.

SE has lied to there LOYAL FANBASE.

BTW this announcment is not big, BUT your Buissnes decisions, There are big (and if i say big, than i mean “BIG”)Buissnes mistakes.

I only hope that Level 5 will be acquired by SONY, cause there are the new SQUERSOFT in my OPINION.

I almost died when I thought it said september 3rd….then I realized in Europe they use a different calendar style than the USA…thank goodness. I cannot wait until March.

Just heard My Hands by Leona Lewis….please use a better song for this game!!! Her rendition of Run is amazing…but My Hands? This just seems like a publicity boost. (I love her voice, just not liking this song for FF!!)

Dear Antonio I dont know if you realise but Leona Lewis is very devisive . For many she equates to marketing and TV “talent” shows rather than musicianship. By associating FF with her you associate square with that. Does your schedule allow for Japanese sound tracks as an option to this ….

well done Square for having the same US/EU release for such a hugely anticipated game! Saves me importing from the US as I wasnt going to wait for a local release for this one had the EU version been delayed like previous FF games.

Is it just me or does the actual game look just like Final Fantasy XII? Even in terms of wandering aimlessly around flat surfaces. Still, lots of good looking cutscenes to watch!

That announcement was not big. Not even a little bit. It was medium-sized, like all release date announcements. Just because you dressed it up in a fancy way doesn’t make it big.

And Leona Lewis? Way to damage my anticipation of the game! Ugh, I can’t believe it. Oh well, at least I have a few months to get used to the fact that the theme song will be utterly awful.

I’m still going to get the game of course, I’m counting on it filling in the fap FFXII left feeling empty when I played that. It looks so much better, and hopefully when I play this I’ll forget all about the awful Westernised tosh that was FFXII.

the last time i check, you guys are no where near filling out the bluray, so when will the japanese voice over be added?

I’m not accepting the ‘Both versions must be equal so no special treatment for PS3′ excuse, it’s already done so why can’t we have that option?

The Leona Lewis thing turns me off.
I hope some kind of dual audio option compensates for this.

I adore Leona Lewis and I adore Final Fantasy. To have them fused in one product is beyond amazing. I had chills all throughout the last part of the video. And the trick with the release date was fun! 9.3.2009 can’t come soon enough.
I will be lining up.

o___O Leona Lewis!!! Jebus Christ! I’m glad im getting the Japanese verison next month instead of waiting! Knowing the theme song is by her will kill the EU/US version to be honest. Shes just another manufactured money maker. That Simon Cowell is good at turning s##t into money isnt he? Shouldve stuck with the original Japanese theme, it was so beautiful.
