Pretty cool that we can use our PS3 to watch streaming TV items that we’ve missed.

I’ve got a suggestion for the next firmware update(s), so if you would be so kind to pass it along?

It’s a rather simple addition that would make the UI (User Interface) a bit quicker and less frustrating: Whenever a notification pops up (Friend online/offline, Message received), it would be great if we could, then, just press the PlayStation-button (for as long as the notification is active) and get taken directly to the User profile of the friend that just connected, or to the message/invite we’ve just received instead of having to manually go through the (often slow) XMB-menu to read it.

If a new music visualisation were present in a firmware update, would Sony advertise it or leave it as a hidden extra?

A great firmware update, kindof not related I guess but I was wondering if any info could be given on how the ABC integration is coming along for the ps3 in Australia. Again might be beyond the info available to u.

This is great but PLEASE can you tidy up the music section, i want my PS3 to be the media centre of my living room but when you have a lot of music it is awful to browse, so slow.

will you be able to find psn users from ur friends list on facebook?

Excuse me James but could you also add this to your list:
Staying connected online on PSN when playing a blu-ray/DVD Movies…. should be an option. Especially continuing to download content from the Playstation store while watching a movie. This would be very nice if implemented.
This is not absolutely necessary tomorrow… but these small things do help users make the most of their playstation 3 experience.

@58, that sounds like a good idea, but if it was for a friend coming online then it would be annoying if you have a lot of people on your friends list because it would go to their profile too often when you dont want it too. maybe if you press select when in the XMB, or double tap the PS button or something like that

@59 yeah id like to see some new visualizers, theres only 3 there right now and im bored of them, how about some visualizers similar to the PSP ones

The PS3 keeps getting better! Did not know we would have the NOS channel that soon. VidZone will be added next week. I’ve been using my PS3 as a movie streamer a lot and playing all the cool games that were released recently (Uncharted 2, R&C CiT) Friday I can add AC2 and the BFBC2 beta!! These are good times to own a PS3!! Keep up the good work!!!

yeah the new layout of the photo section would be great for the music as you would be able to see all the album covers in a grid, thanks for passing that on

@58: I have 99 friends in my list and I don’t think it would be annoying, because most of the time that I want to go to the in-game XMB, it is BECAUSE someone connects or because you’ve received a message.

Also, whenever it *would* happen that you accidently press the PlayStation-button while a notification-window is active, pressing the Circle button would take you straight to the main in-game XMB menu anyway, so it’s no big deal.

Double-tapping wouldn’t be very User Friendly by the way

Hey James, quick question if i may;

With the revamped friends list will we still be able to see what games all are friends are playing simultaneously as was introduced in 3.0

Hopefully with the removal of those ugly boxes you guys wont be removing this too. (It’s been a laugh scrolling over to friends and seeing 10-20 people all playing MW2 at the same time.)

Umm, any news on the European Video Store. Wasn’t there meant to be an announcement today?

NZ always gets the shaft, no playtv, and they’ll probably cancel the vidzone lol.

Any updates on a fix for the issue that those of us living in the UK, but having a EU playstation is not getting the iPlayer icon?

Why no TV channles for Germany? There have been rumors about ZDF Mediathek for ages, implement it! Would be great!

Dunno if the SCEE guy is still around but i had an idea hopefully you could pass on, it would be cool if on our PSN profiles there was also a link to our facebook pages it would give us another way to interact with our PlayStation buddies.

Also I am wonder if PlayTV wil ever be available in the Netherlands? If so then will it be DVB-T or also DVB-C (which most of the network is here). Plus will there be a place for the smartcards that they use here?

Guys please implement the grid layout for music and movies too, its a nightmare when (like me) you have 300+ albums and 150+ movies and trying to get to the bottom of the list takes forever.

I’d much rather use my PS3 as a media hub rather than say an Apple TV but the ATV is more accessible at the moment.

So.. are you gonna tell WHEN you were planning on releasing this update? I can only update through PC and I can’t find it anywhere on your pages.. your latest is 3.01!

I’m a big fan of the changes made here but could I please make a tiny suggestion? Can you add a browsing improvement for the music side of things please? It takes way too long haveing to scroll down a huge list to find a specific album, artist etc. Something along the lines of the photo update thats coming with 3.10 would do nicely. So basically if you have folders (in the list vertical style) for each of the sorting types then within those folders alphabetical grid style folders to enable faster location of whatever you are looking for. Having to select the sorting folder would make the folders inside refresh (similar to what they do when choosing a different sorting type at the moment) and show the sorted grid folders. Hopefully that makes sense but in essence it would improve the browsing for those with extensive music libraries.
