‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (19th November 2009)

Okay, I’m not going to beat around the bush, I think we’ve got a cracking line-up this week…and if you all moan at me this week, you will have crushed my last bit of faith in humanity:)

For PS3 users you can get hold of Critter Crunch (trial and unlock) and Invincible Tiger, as well as the demo for Smash Cars, there are two packs available for Dragon Age: Origins (that’s my weekend gone then) and a host of other content too.

Oh, did I mention a certain Snake makes an appearance this week too…we finally have the PSone classic Metal Gear Solid available!

Also, I think you PSP owners will be feeling some love this week with titles available such as LittleBigPlanet, Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, The Warriors and plenty more. There are also two further minis on the store this week, Echoes and Pinball Dreams; for the full list of this week’s content have a scroll down.

There will also be a couple of titles made available this coming Tuesday (24th of November)…I was going to be mean and keep you waiting but I wouldn’t do that to you all :). Therefore on Tuesday you’ll be able to get hold of Gravity Crash (both the full game and a trial & unlock) and for LittleBigPlanet an Assasssin’s Creed costume will be available too.

Leave comments as usual, but please keep in mind that I don’t work on the Video Download Service, so I won’t be supplying answers about that…

Have a good week!

mitch_uk_psn 19 November, 2009 @ 12:25 pm   5

Great update – and a mini one on Tuesday, bonus!

ginjaninja88 19 November, 2009 @ 12:25 pm   6

great stuff overall is the little big planet costume of assassins creed on psp or ps3 version??

Mike rummages in his cupboards and finds…

Gold :D

Any news on the LBP Deathclaw costume? ;)

When is Military madness: Nectaris coming! I want that game…

2 questions for you Mike…

1. Why isn’t MGS available in NZ?

and

2. Any news on Final Fantasy 8 at the moment?

Otherwise, Great update :)

    Mike Kebby 19 November, 2009 @ 12:39 pm

Konami didn’t submit it for release there I’m afraid.

No news on FFVIII just yet.

Pin-Pin-Ire 19 November, 2009 @ 12:26 pm   10

More PS1 classics please :)

woo metal gear solid.

eastavenge 19 November, 2009 @ 12:26 pm   12

Ahh quite a lot. But i have to wonder; How many actually buy the premium themes?

Great update guys! I’m so happy that finally we have a release date for Gravity Crash!

sowasred2012 19 November, 2009 @ 12:27 pm   14

Super happy with all the stuff happening today re: this content, the video store, new firmware etc – I just wanted to ask one thing:

I’m absolutely itching to play Silent Hill 2 again (Paranormal Activity got me in the mood for real scares), any chance of that coming to the store?

Paranoimia 19 November, 2009 @ 12:28 pm   15

Woohoo! Will be buying The Lost Frontier for sure, and maybe Arctic Edge after trying the demo. And will be buying Gravity Crash next week, too… quite possibly both PS3 and PSP versions.

Looking forward to Gravity Crash. I’ll just trial it until Pixel Junk Shooter comes out then choose. Any idea when this is released? Nice one Michael!

get2sammyb 19 November, 2009 @ 12:28 pm   17

Great update. TONS of PSP content I want.

Metal Gear?!

Sorry, I had to.

YESSSSSSSSSSS mike did konami finally give in 2 your harassment lol. after weeks of waiting their is finally stuff i want to buy:D. Everyone should give mike a week with no moaning this week as its well deserved. it may not of been all down to you mike but am gunna thank u the most anyway, well in m8 :D

Well I guess I have to crush your faith in humanity, but where the hell is the ultimate alliance DLC? The Vicarious Visions moderator has posted on the games official forums saying they sent the content way in advance of the 12th of November release date, so there shouldn’t be any real excuse. Not your fault personally, but the PSN EU guys are useless at times.

Hi Mike,

Good to see Critter Crunch at the price i was hoping for.

Couple of questions that i hope you are able to shed some light on:

1) Is there a reason that the Store no longer receives trailers (be it Cinema releases and Blu Ray)? Seeing as Sony champion the format, and being a film company, I thought they would have advertised things like this more???

2) I realise that we don’t always get PS1 classics the same time, if at all ,as the US do (citing localization issues), but I read on the US blog the other week that they received Tekken 6 wallpapers. Surely, wallpapers don’t need localizing do they?!?

Cheerz

almighty-slayer 19 November, 2009 @ 12:29 pm   22

Too late i spent all my money on the vidstore i’m afraid.

I was wanting LBP too!

A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

From this update, I shall be mostly buying:

Disgaea (very nice price by the way)
Critter Crunch (ditto)
Gravity Crash (but why Tuesday?)
MGS

All over my face.

    Mike Kebby 19 November, 2009 @ 12:41 pm

Tuesday is to match the US release date…we had lots of discussions on the release date, and this was decided to keep everyone happy ;)

Daxterfan94 19 November, 2009 @ 12:29 pm   24

METAL GEAR SOLID!!! thanks! :D

Cool Boarders 2 (How hard can it be, its a 1st party game)
All Tomb Raiders released on PSone

Hey Mike, great update…question though. Any idea on a time or approximate time when the store will be updated with the new content?

Great update. Thanks Mike!

“It only does everything”

YEP IT NOW DOES.

great update, thanks mikey.

Diablo_Rosso 19 November, 2009 @ 12:30 pm   29

Getting MGS, i’m glad it’s finally coming. Let’s hope to see some more classics, Tomb Raider 1, 2, 3 & 4 would be great.

Williams Pinball Classics!!

Mike, you beauty. I’ve been waiting ages for this.

Thanks. :D :D :D

Wooww great update! Gravity Crash seems to be awesome, but until 24th November it won’t be on Playstation Store?? why??

Mike any chance of ringing capcom up to see if they can release resident evil 2? or E-mail em or even text em ^.^

Wow, Metal Gear, Disgaea, Darkstalkers, Capcom Puzzle AND Movies, this is how it should be, need to get a 32gb card now!

Excellent update Mike

jimmy-google 19 November, 2009 @ 12:30 pm   34

Really good list this week My bank balance will be looking a little thin. I may need to pick up another memory stick for my pspgo as well.

Only one question. Do you know if F1 2009 for PSP will be on the store any time soon? I think it’s released on UMD tomorrow.

I recommend checking out Critter Crunch – one of the best games on PSN in my opinion.

Great to see Metal Gear Solid up there, I still have the original discs so I won’t need it.
It was a really needed seeing how long it had been up on the US Store, good to see it eventually was coming.

I’ll be picking up the Sgt. Pepper’s album anyway, good to see that wasn’t delayed like Abbey Road last time, Sgt. Pepper’s FTW!

Blasteroids 19 November, 2009 @ 12:32 pm   37

YAY! TB:RB DLC on the expected date! :)

Mike, any news on the RB Track Pack pricing. Yeah, I am a stuck record ;)

    Mike Kebby 19 November, 2009 @ 12:42 pm

    Hooray indeed ;)

It’s been a convoluted process, but we’re getting there – not sure on an ETA just yet though.

“* Metal Gear Solid (£7.99/€9.99) Rating: PEGI 18+

Availability: Not available in New Zealand”

What? Why not New Zealand? The way I see it there is absolutely no reason why it shouldn’t be available in New Zealand, especially when it’s available in Australia! Any explanation on this one, or at least a date when it will be available?

    Mike Kebby 19 November, 2009 @ 12:43 pm

I don’t know, it’s up to Konami, it could be they didn’t get a rating finalised, or legal issues, or licensing issues – there’s a myriad of potential reasons why not – I couldn’t say to be honest…

Epic update, keep them coming!

TheKillerSnowman 19 November, 2009 @ 12:33 pm   40

THE UPDATS ARE LOL THIS WEEK TOO :( WHEN DOES THE AVATARS COMING ???????????????

    Mike Kebby 19 November, 2009 @ 12:44 pm

    Always one isn’t there!?

Avatars are coming, you’ll know when I have something to confirm.

Dutch PSN store is currently riddled with language errors, some of them:

Pain FatPrincess icon on the main page says “gratuit” instead of “gratis”
Pain Schnell-Oocher Paket is listed fully in German
Racket & Clank Waffen Trailer is listed fully in German
Final Fantasy 7′s description is listed in Spanish or Portuguese

so mike once again any news on ff8? not a bad update this week just nothing for me as mgs1 was mine a few months ago. hopefully the us store update will have ff8 :(

Nice nice nice. Cheers Mike. :) I managed to find a copy of MGS from a local boot sale but the second disc wasn’t in it. Dude just gave me the game for free, said I may as well play through half of it (“Why would I want half a freakin’ game?” was my response, oh well). So I’m glad I can download that now and get my game on.

If nothing else, I’m buying it as a protest vote to get more real PS1 classics on there. If third parties can see that these things sell, they’re probably more likely to put more stuff on there quick-sharp. :P

As someone said, more weeks should be like this. I’m sure there’s stuff from your ol’ archives that you can dig up and offer when there’s a slow week (like a good ol’ SCEE-published PS1 classic or two), so I hope to see more packed weekly updates. =)

Nice one on the continuing special offers too. I’m usually very wary against spending over a tenner on certain games over digital download, but the PSP EA Replay has caught my eye for a while and I wasn’t prepared to splash £16 on it. At £12, I’m thinking now may be the time. Road Rash on the go, awesome.

whoismilan 19 November, 2009 @ 12:36 pm   44

Finally MGS! :D Awesome update this week.

Good update.

capitancogorzas 19 November, 2009 @ 12:36 pm   46

woohoo, I’ll have to get some more PSN cards.

Assassin’s Creed PSP looks fantastic, though IGN says it doesn’t play that way (still, what do they know?!).

I’ve been waiting for Gravity Crash for ages, so really happy to see that’s out on Tuesday.

Mike are we missing Ad Hoc Party?
