Okay, I’m not going to beat around the bush, I think we’ve got a cracking line-up this week…and if you all moan at me this week, you will have crushed my last bit of faith in humanity:)
For PS3 users you can get hold of Critter Crunch (trial and unlock) and Invincible Tiger, as well as the demo for Smash Cars, there are two packs available for Dragon Age: Origins (that’s my weekend gone then) and a host of other content too.
Oh, did I mention a certain Snake makes an appearance this week too…we finally have the PSone classic Metal Gear Solid available!
Also, I think you PSP owners will be feeling some love this week with titles available such as LittleBigPlanet, Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, The Warriors and plenty more. There are also two further minis on the store this week, Echoes and Pinball Dreams; for the full list of this week’s content have a scroll down.
There will also be a couple of titles made available this coming Tuesday (24th of November)…I was going to be mean and keep you waiting but I wouldn’t do that to you all
. Therefore on Tuesday you’ll be able to get hold of Gravity Crash (both the full game and a trial & unlock) and for LittleBigPlanet an Assasssin’s Creed costume will be available too.
Leave comments as usual, but please keep in mind that I don’t work on the Video Download Service, so I won’t be supplying answers about that…
Have a good week!

ASSASINS CREED BLOODLINES : Not working for me on a PSP Go with the latest firmware.
Mike, is there a standard point of contact when things like this happen. I downloaded it last night to find it didnt work, but i dont really know where to report any problems with games from the PSN. Is there a customer service number or email that handles questions like this.

Removing Williams Pinball from The Store Mike.
How could you let them do that to me.

I was there wielding my deathclaw guantlet, keeping them away from that game “No, don’t do this to X201, won’t somebody think of the children, please, please…” but they didn’t listen…I’m sorry

truly great update, but were we not suspposed to get adhoc party? Or was it US only? Any idea when we will get it, it looks like a great idea.
cheers

I guess AdHoc Party will be next week now as it was given a November release date originally

I hope there will be news about the release date for HUSTLE KINGS soon. Where has that stunning looking game gotten to?
See if you can get one of the team working on the game, on the blog to give us an update.

So, Soul Reaver and Blood Omen is on the US store. Among other titles. Is there a particular reason why SCEE feels they need to sabotage their PSP sales by making sure it’s unattractive to use an unhacked psp in the EU region?
Because I’m sure there must be a very good reason for it.

So Mike, Your back on replying to comments today, any comments about ASSASIN CREED BLOODLINES not working. When can we expect a fix.

I wasn’t aware of any problems with this – what’s up?

The Playstation Network Downloadable version simply doesnt work. There are many reports from loads of people saying that it downloads fine, but when you go to run it, you got the spinning logo in the bottom right corner of the screen, it then pauses, and the PSP switches itself off.
This happens on my PSP Go (firmware 6.20) but I have seen other reports on the official forums that it happens on older PSP’s as well regardless of firmware. There definitly seems to be a problem with it.
Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 10:46 am by Mike Kebby
Looks like it’s being looked into already, thanks for giving me the heads up too though.

is suppose the lbp demo and adhoc party weren’t submitted for publishing on the eu store then.
you know little big planet, made in england, would therefore fall under scee right?
a demo wouldn’t normally be a problem except sony decided it would be a good idea if even the demos on psp were tied to an account so if you want to play a demo from another region you have to keep changing the account on the psp.

Great update! I’ve downloaded MGS and tried playing it on my PSP, but the cut scenes are jerky and the sound is stuttering. Even on the codec screens! The game itself is plays fine, but without the cut scenes I’m not getting the MGS experience!
Is anyone else having problems with MGS or is my memory stick FUBARed?

Hi Mike,
Looks like a nice update. I’ve got my Black Edition of Assassin’s Creed II to tuck in to tonight. I can’t wait!
I just have two queries about upcoming titles as you tend to have know when something is due in a few weeks time.
Do you know when Final Fantasy VIII & Vagreant Story is scheduled to be out?
I’m after some RPG on the go and these two look very tasty!
No worries if you have no info buddy. Have a nice weekend.

So Sony know AC:Bloodlines has a MAJOR problem and yet they still have it for sale of the PSN, taking peoples hard earned money and providing a game they know doesn’t work.

Nope, it’s off the store, and we are looking at getting a working version up VERY soon (if all goes well).

Are you serious? $16 for Metal Gear Solid?
Hell, I’ve wanted it for ages but it’s not worth two PS1 games. Infact I could buy all three Command and Conquer games and still have money left over with the $16 Konami want for MGS.
Pass.

Mike,
I follow this blog more closely than the US blog because you actually respond to the comments. Good job!
I know I’ve asked this a million times, but do you have any idea when Konami will bring PES 2010 to the PSN store for PSPgo owners? Are we going to have to wait until the Japan release on Dec. 10th?

Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 2:56 pm by dgnfly
Omg i thought this update was great when i saw MGS, but then the american store update showed me how much even this update sucked by showing that they can deliver more than 1 ps1 classic unlike sony europe where it took about 3 month 2 release a title that was alrdy on the american store, mike can we even expect those other games at the end off 2011 or can we atleast get a ps1 game every update like the american store.
373
Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 3:01 pm by dgnfly
howcome we always have 2 wait months for content america get’s in almost every weekly updates it’s freaking lame considering the econmy you would think they would get off their asses more 2 work for their money seems there are a lot off lazy ppl at sony europe they should pay sony america team double 2 do our country’s.
still waiting for
braid
star trek DAC
resident evil directors cut
abe oddworld
pandemonium
resident evi 2
legacy of kain
they should pull the plug out off sony europe and just connect us 2 the american store.

Funny isn’t it Mike, long before the days of digital distribution, there wasn’t this much fuss about “They got their games before us” malarky. Ok, localisation still happened, but I’m pretty sure people were more patient back then. Blimey, I’m sounding well old now.

Erm…while you’re about (sort of) is Vagrant Story out next week?
Great update by the way, I’m not surprised that it is still not good enough for some people. As they say, you can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot please gamers. Ever.

you don’t think it’s weird that sony american can get new real gaming content on their store while with most europe update it’s just wallpapers or stuff most ppl don’t need, cause you hardly see any content being released here first you would expect them 2 atleast get us something everyweek. i am not a rock band or guitar hero fan i am not waiting for those things i just want games for a so called gamer’s console, if it takes time howcome japan and america has double the games in the same amount off time we may have more countries but, i take it that he isen’t doing this all on his own he has a team working with him round the clock just like the other 2 sony offices. it feels more like sony is giving a cold shoulder 2 their european install base while they say it’s bigger than the american one.and patience might work on the store in your country but not in ours we get half the content you are getting even now.

dgnfly: Just out of a point of interest. It’s happened this way for as long as I can remember, (order of area release in relation to area of origin.) All Final Fantasy games that I can remember, were released in Japan first, came out in the US second, then Europe got them last.

Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 4:41 pm by dgnfly
dude all those ps1 games have been through that before so there should have been no delays in the language department then it comes down 2 the PEGI what for the most part shoulden’t take that long considering it only took about 3 months for RE2 and legacy of kain and it’s not like the old days it’s digital distibution they don’t need 2 repack it for sale or anything,(order of area release in relation to area of origin.) dude americans even get content that was made here first. and the dutch store got fallout 3 content 3 weeks later and it’s in english what ever should ppl do who can’t speak or understand english. plz correct me if anything is wrong.

Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 4:51 pm by Scourgewood
You have to remember that some games code will need to be tinkered with to get it to work properly. Games companies have their own special coders to convert the PS1 games to a digital copy, and that’s not as easy as it sounds. They’re not going to employ loads of extra staff to re-convert titles when they could already be in the middle of a big project. Plus they’ll still convert them in order of area release.
Look, let’s just cut to the chase. Sony are doing what they’re doing for a reason, ranting and raving here isn’t going to get the point across to Sony, just aggravate a few people. If you’ve got a problem with it, send a letter to Sony about it.
But if you can’t be bothered to do that, then just wait until they come out, we can’t say fairer than that.
391
Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 4:56 pm by Bahamut44-4
@dgnfly
You really think SCEE and Mike are just sitting on content just to make you angry? Gimme a break.
Publishers prioritize Europe last, whether we like it or not. It’s been that way in this industry since the beginning of time. SCEE cant help that nor Mike. I truely believe Mike does his best for the store and his customers but he’s not Chuck Norris, he cant to it all.
As for PS1 games there could be any number of reasons that publishers cant bring them to us. Old contracts and royalty payments, distribution rights and so on. It’s not (all) down to SCEE’s incompetence.
SCEE are far from perfect I agree, but cut them some slack.
392
Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 4:57 pm by dgnfly
you should know that won’t help sony cares like most company’s about profit and sony europe even screws up on their release dates like psp games that are broken or releasing content like call of duty classic while it shoulden’t have been released. but for now i’ll leave it at that. but 2 disappoint you all i’ll be back.

Mike, do you know when we can expect a solution for the Assassin’s Creed problem? Today? Or will it take some more time, and if it does, are we talking about one or two days, or something like a week?
395
Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 5:04 pm by Rsoulman
Scourgewood,
you wrote that they need to work on the game codes so how come the illegal visions are that easy to convert?
I know that sony wont just do the same way as people that hack games but its more easy that way to play ps1 games and there for it dosnt take that much time.
so pleas answer that if you can

Thanks in advance and hope you have a good weekend

Having a PS1 cd and dumping it in a drive, spooling off the data, then dumping it onto the PSP isn’t do-able. For a start, each PS1 game has a unique file that allows it to work on the PSP and that’s just for the Playstation Store games. Sony thought about that way before the first PS1 games came out on the store. I would imagine a PS1 game from the original source disc would first need to be modified to account for the single analogue stick, (there may be more, but I’ll never know.) Now if a game has audio tracks on the CD, they’ll need to be compressed to shrink the overall size of the game. I would imagine there will be far more processes than just that. But it’s definitely not as easy as putting the CD into a drive, clicking a few buttons and hey presto. Admittedly, I’d love to know what processes the games need to be put through to be playable on the PSP/PS3.
399
Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 5:31 pm by Scourgewood
I can understand as it would mean people with the original copies could convert them to work. But it would also mean Sony would lose out as people would be downloading the ISO’s off the net and converting them. So Sony devised a way that you could only play the games again by downloading the official PS1 games off the store. And basically, they’d need to go through conversions to allow them to work on the PSP/PS3.
(This is just common sense/logic, this might not even be the case. but as I said to “dgnfly”, If you want to know more, ask Sony personally.)
The blog now thinks I’m spamming, great!
