Okay, I’m not going to beat around the bush, I think we’ve got a cracking line-up this week…and if you all moan at me this week, you will have crushed my last bit of faith in humanity:)
For PS3 users you can get hold of Critter Crunch (trial and unlock) and Invincible Tiger, as well as the demo for Smash Cars, there are two packs available for Dragon Age: Origins (that’s my weekend gone then) and a host of other content too.
Oh, did I mention a certain Snake makes an appearance this week too…we finally have the PSone classic Metal Gear Solid available!
Also, I think you PSP owners will be feeling some love this week with titles available such as LittleBigPlanet, Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, The Warriors and plenty more. There are also two further minis on the store this week, Echoes and Pinball Dreams; for the full list of this week’s content have a scroll down.
There will also be a couple of titles made available this coming Tuesday (24th of November)…I was going to be mean and keep you waiting but I wouldn’t do that to you all
. Therefore on Tuesday you’ll be able to get hold of Gravity Crash (both the full game and a trial & unlock) and for LittleBigPlanet an Assasssin’s Creed costume will be available too.
Leave comments as usual, but please keep in mind that I don’t work on the Video Download Service, so I won’t be supplying answers about that…
Have a good week!

@Scourgewood
If you understood the process you would know it is that simple.
However Sony are not going to allow people to put discs in the drive and convert to EBOOT as people will just buy and sell discs, or share them. This is the same problem with the UMD transfer scheme to PSPGo, Sony has no way of linking a physical UMD or CD to a PSN account as discs do not have unique identifiers.
The biggest issue for me with PSOne titles is they have had several years to start releasing titles, especially with the promise in the Official PSP mag (RIP) of 800 games, and so far we have had a couple of classics only. I understand the reluctance of some publishers but Sony themselves should have EVERY 1st party title up to set the example.

Hey, don;t know if it got addressed or if this will..
but what’s going on with Mercury Meltdown? i’m using media GO if that makes a difference?
advertising it at £4.79 and it not being there feels like a mean joke haha

As far as I know, it’s removed because they found some bugs in it. (too much). and it should be back later when those bugs are fixed.
that’s what I’ve heard,

Hey,
Isn’t it possible for us to buy and download the correct version Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines now and get a refund for the incorrect version. Im sure you can see somehow that i bought it two times if i use this methode?
Would be awesome to play it earlier than having to wait untill monday for some codes to allow me to download it again for free!
Feels like a punnishment somehow. Would be awesome if this methode could actually be set in motion instead of a code for free download monday.
Cheers

Any comment on the ongoing MUA2 DLC drama? Will we actually get it next week?

Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 8:58 pm by Scourgewood
graz16: I can understand how Mike feels having to keep on repeating himself.
Maybe just maybe, it isn’t that easy to get publishers to part with the original code. There could be a million reasons. I did say I could be way off the mark. But really, put your frustrations to Sony about the PS1 releases please!

Nevermind, found the comment. Searched for “marvel” and “MUA2″, but neither were in the post. Still displeased about this, regardless of whose fault, and hope that if we get more DLC we get it when the USA and Xbox Live get it.

Well, I may as well chip in here with my thoughts on both the Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines situation (as I am another with a non-working copy) and also the US vs UK PSN storewar.
I posted both of these on the Playstation Forum, but that place scares me. Without wanting to sound offensive, i’m disturbed by the lack of capital letters and punctuation on display there and everyone here seems like a friendlier bunch.
Firstly then, my email to Sony on AC:B.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I’m sure you’ve had plenty of complaints regarding Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines already, but I wanted to send it directly to you (rather than stick it on your forums or blog) where I imagine things get easily missed due to the high amount of traffic both of those get.
As a loyal Playstation customer since the launch of the original console (owning 2x PS1′s, 3x PS2′s, 2x PS3′s and 3x PSP’s of various models, including the Go, i’ve probably already either bored you to death with that list, or I appear to be bragging, so I apologise) I feel slightly screwed over having to wait to play a game that I purchased on Thursday. Everyone who buys and downloads the game from now doesn’t have to wait, so why do I?
412
Posted on 20 November, 2009 at 9:35 pm by Dark-Rakugosha
I understand, that Ubisoft may have provided you with a duff version and that isn’t your fault (although the lack of a testing proceedure is rather alarming) and the speed in which you replaced it with a corrected version is admirable, but why am I sat around here, with no information on when I can download a corrected version? My only options are; wait until next week and pray for information to come, followed by a code. Or, pay for the game again, neither of which are good enough.

Sony, at the moment are starting to rise again, outselling the Wii in many parts of the world. This is thanks to many new customers and people like me, who enjoy buying shiny new things and bought a second PS3 when the Slim was launched. If you’re struggling to keep the existing userbase happy, lord knows how things will go when it doubles in a year or so’s time. My apologies for coming across a little ***** there, I just don’t want Sony to go down the route of other companies and run an inefficient customer services department and tarnish your reputation. Thankfully, for yourselves, this problem only effected a few hundred people who rushed to buy the game when it was released onto the store. The bad news is, these people are the REALLY loyal ones (like myself), who rush to buy titles instantly and don’t wait for sales or discounts. Annoying those people only results in driving them to either wait (which doesn’t help sell the rise of Digital Distributon, especially at a time when you’re trying to convince more of Third Party companies to release titles on PSN) or even driving them to alternatives (UMD, or even a competition console).

While i’m here, I guess i’ll bring up something else. Loyalty to existing users.
I know that you want to push for new customers as much as possible (understandable in such a cutthroat marketplace), but I find the ‘register your PS3 online and get a free digital copy of Transformers’ to be a little insulting. Again, as one of many loyal customers, it isn’t encouraging me to use the new Video Delivery Service to know that I won’t be getting anything for free, despite in the past having spent something crazy like £2000 on Sony consoles alone, but someone who spends £200 tomorrow gets a free movie. I don’t really expect anything for free, just feel slightly slapped in the face by this. In fact, when Sky were offering free HD boxes to new customers, I called and asked for one, having been a customer of Sky for more than 10 years and they said no. So, I cancelled and went to Virgin Media instead. I’m not suggesting for a second that i’ll have a Playstation bonfire for the sake of one film (that I admittedly own on Blu-Ray already), but please think about rewarding the loyal customers as well as trying to tempt new ones.

Since no compliants email would be complete without a sobstory, i’ll give you mine. I was meant to be spending six hours travelling on trains over the next two days, of which I was going to spend the time playing AC:B. Now I might have to, read a book or something. It’s 2009, who reads books anymore? …and don’t take that as a chance to sell me an eReader.
Anyway, since i’ve already wasted a good ten minutes of your day, i’ll bid you farewell. Please forward this to the relevant parties and I hope to hear from you soon.
Cheers,
Dr David Nippleback*

No Rock Band DLC this week even though Harmonix advertised and still are advertising this weeks DLC as being released on Thursday 19th, another case of EU PS3 users getting shafted up the khyber.

Dude, you really didn’t either read or understand what I wrote eh?
To quote:
“I understand the reluctance of some publishers”
Was this not clear?
“Sony themselves should have EVERY 1st party title up (i.e their own titles) to set the example.”
If you think the team Mike is part of, who are responsible for publishing content on the PSN, who are part of Sony’s entertainment division, are not responsible for Sony’s own in-house developed PSone titles not being on the PSN then I can’t argue with you.
Sony promoted this function of the PSP, not me or anyone else who gets frustrated with the lack of title.,They promised hundreds of titles and can’t even get all their own titles up after a few years.

@SMOKING-GOOSE
Because it’s not as easy as people just requesting things and *POOF* they appear like magic on the XMB.
If Sony didn’t put Facebook on, people would say ‘hey, why haven’t you got Facenbook, Xbox 360 has it’.
Crossgame chat may (or may not) have been held up by EA. To be honest, since Skype was brought to the PSP a while back, i’d like to see it brought to the PS3, that would have a much broader appeal than just cross-game chat.
They are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.
I won’t entirely forgive them for not cramming as many First Party PS1 titles onto PSN as possible in the last two years, as I thought that would be a priority (and again, it would encourage greater Third Party support).

I downloaded Metal Gear Solid and halfway through the game this screen appears “Insert DISC 2″
Seriously, I don’t have any DISC 2 when I download from PSN. What should gamers do about this?

Dude, again you dont seem to be able to either read or understand my post.
I suggest you read again, because your responses are just irrelevant.
This blog is exactly where we all get to comment on the content, or lack there of, on the PSN. If you are satisfied with the content for the PSP then fine. Those of us who aren’t are allowed to express our dissatisfaction.
Oh and Thank YOU

graz 16: Don’t make me put you in the naughty corner.
This is a blog, not a feedback forum. So many people have complained about what you’re complaining about. If you’re really that concerned then write to Sony, get them to explain it to you, come back here with the letter and put everyone to rights.
Putting your complaints here isn’t a very direct way of doing it, that’s why I’m telling you to complain to Sony/SCEE.
THAN-Q
P.S. If you can’t understand that, even if I have told you several times, then I’d advise you to go back to whatever arrogant planet you came from.

A blog, where Sony posts details of its PSN content, which has a comments section and which Mike reads and responds to. Thats not feedback at all is it? and certainly not direct feedback to SCEE and the team who put content on the PSN.

Dont worry, I am walking to the corner.

It’s awesome to finally see a worthy PSone Classic title in PSN again. Hopefully it won’t take long until we see other great titles from Konami like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Suikoden and Suikoden II. Not to mention Silent Hill which used to be available, even if only for a few days.

Here’s a question for the bods at Sony.
Why are you breaking the law?
Consumer rights state that a consumer has the right to full information to be presented prior to making a purchase. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Sony is disregarding this and misleading consumers.
Has anyone else noticed that it is damn near impossible to find out how large a file is before downloading it? It says ’12Mb minimum’, but that is not exactly useful. I’ve now bought two separate games and been unable to play them thanks to this issue.
Don’t get me wrong, I could more than likely just buy a new memory card, but the fact is that I shouldn’t have to.
All of this information should be available to consumers, PRIOR TO PARTING WITH ANY MONEY.
It is my honest opinion that Sony are breaking the law by not providing all of this information, and I wonder if perhaps someone would like to respond from Sony?
…actually, who am I kidding, right?!?
