Hello, hello.
I’ve left writing this update to the very, very, very last minute this week, so for fear of getting my hands slapped by Jem, I’m going to keep this brief.
We have content on the store this week, you may love it, you may not – I will always love you all though, no matter how much you abuse me, that’s commitment right there
I’ll try and monitor comments as best I can this week, but forgive me if there is a delay in my responses.
Have a good week all!

Where’s the DJ Hero David Guetta pack?
The US store already has it, so where’s the european version?
The in-game message tells me that the pack is available, but it’s not.
Will we get it next week?

I take back what I said about the Last Guardian trailer – we wanted the good E3 one, not this short TGS thing. Not only that, but there’s a mistake in the subs which turn Fumito Ueda into Fumiti Ueda.

@ 349 (HiddenAway)
Ta, been wondering that for a while. I’d love to use the PSN store more i love the whole download at home thing and look forward to see where it goes in the future but most for me it’s still mostly too expensive. Video store prices in particular are crazy.
@ 346 (hedges1001)
Good point, I did write it from the point of view of the ps1 game but the copy of it I brought was the psp one (admittedly second hand) for 3 or 4 quid cheaper than it is on the psn store. Fair point though it’s pretty fair for a psp game.
All in all stuff generally seems overpriced. I’d have thought by not having packaging and physical distribution costs the downloadable version of a game would naturally be cheaper. Can anyone confirm if this is a false assumption or is the price set completley disregarding that?
Ta for the feedback, not having a go here I really like the psn store just some contsructive feedback with evidence of cheaper products to highlight that more people would perhaps use the store where the prices more in line with retail prices.
Would be nice to have the most popular ps1 classics such as FF7 and MGS and no doubt other FF games maybe RE games for the same prices as the other ps1 classics.

2 weeks in a row now the Rock Band DLC has not shown up, last week was supossed to be AFI & the Bangles(showed up today), and this week was supposed to be Tom Petty(where is it?)
Why does PS3 & Xbox in the USA have these packs but only the Xbox in Europe have these tracks?
363
Posted on 26 November, 2009 at 9:18 pm by Rokoth
So I’ve been diligently reading the ‘Heads Up’ part of this blog for the past weeks, faithfully reading every comment and reply (which gets boring quite quickly) and the main (if not only) reason for the lack of content in the EU seems to be that the wanted content is not submitted to SCEE by their respective publishers. Which means Mike and by extent SCEE and SCE are blameless.
Now, a lot of people want these PSone Classics -that much is obvious- and localisation of new games shouldn’t take too much time (we’re not asking for translations and the games in the US store work fine on my PS3). The basic message is: Hey publisher we have money and we want stuff to spend it on, what company can resist that? So the only remaining reason for the lack of games in the EU PSN store is a general unawareness of our “plight”. Is there perhaps a way we can collectively bring our whishes to the attention of the big “evil” publishers?
Maybe SCEE can help us here, if even a little. After all, we are just small people and Sony happens to be a big company too, those tend to get a bit more attention.
Just a (somewhat incoherent) thought.
Posted on 27 November, 2009 at 8:31 am by Mike Kebby
They’re certainly not big evil publishers they do give us content after all
– we do ask them to release as much content as possible, but they won’t necessarily give us the reasons behind their decisions if they decide not to, or they have issues which causes delays.

@364 whilst there is a slightly lower costs on dlc the download market still returns at a lower rate than physical media so to offset the costs publishers tend to hike the price

sorry bt if u work in a big company and get the hump when people complain then go work in a nursery or something
Posted on 27 November, 2009 at 8:28 am by Mike Kebby
I really hope you’re not aiming that at me. As if I’ve got the hump – I have a lot of other work to do than just communicating with people on the blog.
Doing a weekly blog update was never in my job description, it’s something I volunteered for, and now do as part of my weekly role – however much I love doing it, and enjoy reading through feedback left here, there’s only so much one man can read before needing to get back to his other duties. I cannot spend all my time on the blog reading comments, I’m sorry, but that’s the truth.
I can certainly take the heat from you lot that’s not an issue at all, it’s only words after all, and words said from behind a screen are much different than ones said to my face

Hello Mike,
With the release of the PSPgo, a digital download only iteration of a console with an ample software library customer expectation is, and rightly should be that said software library is available from the get go. This is not a conventional retail channel, and the PSPgo is not a conventional console. I can’t just wonder down to EB or Kmart when I want a game, I have to wait for SCEE to release it on the PSN Store.
Stop moaning just because people who have purchased a PSPgo (like myself) have the expectation that SCEE will deliver a diverse offering of games, applications etc to use with their premium console. There are 100s of games created in the past (PSone Classics and PSP games)or currently being released through conventional retail channels that could be released on the PSN store for consumption.
Kind regards,
Dutch
PS. Where the hell is Vagrant Story?

Where is the DJ Hero David Guetta DLC? Why is it on Xbox Live Marketplace in the UK but not on the UK PSN?
The US got the DJ Hero DLC today though. They never get shafted like we do. I paid more for DJ Hero than they did (£170, $280) but I have to wait for the DLC? How is that fair?

“Lilo & Stitch a classic Psone?
Bhuauauauua Sony FAIL”
why is it so hard for people to grasp that sony would like to have a console which appeals to as wide a demographic as possible, including people with young families?!?. there is a 27million user install base, they’re not all die-hard been-gaming-for-20-years uber-vociferous internet geeks. do you write to london studios and ask them why they bothered to develop eyepet, for example? disney is a huge franchise appealing to families, why wouldn’t they submit it if they can?. so it’s a not a game for your tastes.. get over it. don’t question its place on the store.

Hey Mike,
Any news on Metal Gear Solid coming to New Zealand. Seems odd that every country in the world has it now bar New Zealand. Is it because the game contains scenes of Nuclear Weapons?
Some actual feedback would be appreciated.
PS Why doesn’t the US store have all the Disney “Classic” games? Again, seems odd that a distributor as large as Disney, does not yet want to distribute in the USA.

@365 I think the DLC is delayed due to the stupid pricing about at the moment for the track packs.
Mike, if you read this in the morning. Just a heads up on next weeks track packs. 3 x 99p songs they are attempting to sell for £3.99!!

not too much to ask for really!

Mike,
Ever thought about making a new blog section for adults… then people like us can talk sense, and leave these children to talk about things they know nothing about!
Or best of all, cancel the blog bit all together. Just advise on the update each week.
It seems that people don’t realise, all this is done for FREE. This blog, the store update, demos etc. If you have the other console, you will know that they get £39.99 from each user in their budget, so maybe their service is slightly better… but me for one, and many other ADULTS, don’t complain about this.
Do you also realise that you who complain, and also have moaned about the possibility of Sony charging for online services, are the one’s that are making Sony contemplate this ???
You are the people who complain about people not answering (who are trying to get the content on store), and then complain because it’s late!!
At the end of the day, we get this service for FREE.
All you need is patience, and the content will come. There is no way any company would with-hold goods if there wasn’t a good excuse.
388
Posted on 27 November, 2009 at 2:02 am by kizalini
OK, I shouldn’t have mentioned about the other console company having a better service… cos I seem to remember many demo’s failing on me after downloading; and having to download them 4 or 5 times. Never happened on PSNetwork. As mentioned before, and as I understand; Sony have a strict procedure to ensure no bugs are put on the store, to ensure nothing like the above happens.
I have full respect to all the people who make these blogs, and appreciate what they do. There is no way they should be put under such pressure by impatient, arrogant people.
If the criticism was constructive, and items were mentioned once (not repeated 10 times like on this blog) then it would make this blog site much better.
At the moment, it is like an Anti-Sony war going on; like they’re purposely with-holding content … which it turn would reduce contribution for Sony … why would they do that??
389
Posted on 27 November, 2009 at 3:13 am by Dutch_Rootsman
@ 391/2 – Why don’t you ask Vicarious Visions?
Hahahahahahaha MUA2 DLC will be the evidence in the argument as to whether SCEE withholds content for years to come.
Also, people do not have to pay for Xbox Live updates, demos etc. They have to pay for multiplayer but that is beside the point. Xbox Live Marketplace and the PSN Stores are points of difference, if Sony wants more people to buy a PS3 then they need to offer a steady stream of quality content on the store. Physical media will be round for ages, but each company has learned that sticking their finger in the virtual pie yields results.
Just because we complain does not mean we are childish or stupid, granted sometimes we could articulate ourselves better but once again beside the point. We complain because the PAL PSN Store delivers below consumer expectations. Until it meets or exceeds expectations please expect more complaining.
PS. Where the hell is Vagrant Story

nothing against you mike but whats with the kiddy PS1 updates latley?
SCEE does realize there are people above the age of 10 that would like to play some ps1 classics.
US gets command and conquer, oddworld abes oddessy, oddworld abes exodous, pandemonium, resident evil, resident evil 2.
and what do we get?
whinnie the pooh and lilo and stitch.
i mean come on, why does the US always get the good stuff.
why do we always get the short end of the stick?
no wonder 99% of people have a US PSN account.
also why are games smaller on the US PSN than the AU PSN?
crash bandicoot 3 for example on the US PSN its 180MB on the AU its over 300MBs.

Posted on 27 November, 2009 at 8:22 am by StefNighthawk
@366, Communication is a two-way street.
SCEE should not wait until a publisher comes to them to put their back-catalogue of PSOne games on PSN.
SCEE could easily convince the publishers to put the titles on PSN by way of incentives.
It seems Disney is the only publishers who found its way onto the European PSN.
And what’s with Silent Hill, Crash Bandicoot 2 and some others who were put on the store for a very brief moment.
How long does it take to get the permission to put them back on the store or to fix the issues those games have.
My copy of Crash Bandicoot 2 works fine by the way.
Posted on 27 November, 2009 at 8:35 am by Mike Kebby
I’ve repeaetedly said we have been working behind the scenes to get more onto the store, you won’t see the fruits of such labours straight away (and sometimes hard work doesn’t always get repaid with content unfortunately) but just because I am not on here every week telling you everything we’ve been doing all week doesn’t mean we are not working on projects.
There are LOTS of things you don’t see us doing, that doesn’t mean we aren’t doing though.
I would LOVE to give you all everything you want, EVERY week, but I have to manage your expectations and say this will not always be the case, we are reliant on content being submitted to us, we don’t own the rights to 3rd party content so we cannot realease anything until we have a submission, and it’s been verified, has passed QA, and is fit and raring to go.
