Hello, hello.
I’ve left writing this update to the very, very, very last minute this week, so for fear of getting my hands slapped by Jem, I’m going to keep this brief.
We have content on the store this week, you may love it, you may not – I will always love you all though, no matter how much you abuse me, that’s commitment right there
I’ll try and monitor comments as best I can this week, but forgive me if there is a delay in my responses.
Have a good week all!

Minus 2 Euros in Italy for the Fallout DLC? Talk about elite prices for “certain” countries, huh?

” would love this blog 2 have the headline.
SCEE CLOSED BEING TAKEN OVER BY SCEA!”
please explain how this would help?. SCEA don’t even remotely offer the same content in its *three* countries (US, Can, Mex), how would it manage with 29?

Question/s : Why is the EU store always short of things like videos and even better.. wallpapers for various games when compared to the US?. I cant see why “Localization” is a problem when you seem to have the ability to release different updates for the various regions of the EU.
Like the Modern Warfare 2 wallpapers on the US store as an example? and the multiplayer trailer?.. considering its the fastest selling game in history you would have thought SCEE would have made an effort for it.
Maybe its down to the publishers? Even so…why US only? and again… why only the *ahem* Xbox360? *washes mouth out*.
Just seems we get about 60% of content when compared to other regions. I think its about time we knew why.
I agree completely, I would love to know this too !

microsoft paid activision a lot of money for exclusive MW2 content and a timed exclusive on map packs. the first two maps will be available for sometime before PSN.
looking at the first week sales, more copies were sold on the xbox in the US, than on the PS3 worldwide. (and the UK alone accounted for almost half of all PS3 sales outside the US!)

Decent update, will get the Uncharted motion comic 2 and Dracula for PSP. Possibly the Ninja Gaiden 2 DLC at some point. Much better week than Xbox Live this week I have to say, especially on the movie store front. Good to see the video store starting so strong with it’s selection.

Hi Mike, just wanted to ask (sorry if it’s been asked before). Does SCEE set the prices for content in the store or is it set by the respective distributer? Taking a few examples off the store for the downloadable psp games compared to buying the games from Play.com including the case, manual and delivery.
Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier
PSN Store – £21.99
Play.com – £17.99
Star Wars: Battlefront – Elite Squadron
PSN Store – £31.99
Play.com – £24.99
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
PSN Store – £29.99
Play.com – £24.99
WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2010
PSN Store – £31.99
Play.com – £24.99 + Exclusive ‘The Rock’ In-Game Character Unlock Code
Marvel Super Hero Squad
PSN Store – £29.99
Play.com – £17.99
LittleBigPlanet PSP
PSN Store – £21.99
Play.com – £17.99
NBA Live 10
PSN Store – £31.99
Play.com – £24.99

*CONT*
The video store is just as bad taking an example of an old film that really shouldn’t cost much:
Leon (Standard Definition)
PSN Store – £11.99
Play.com £5 (Directors Cut)or £10.99 (Blu Ray Directors Cut)
I know your not responsible for the video store but thought it worth highlighting the prices are too expensive across the whole store.
PS1 games for £3.49-£3.99 but when a proper ‘classic’ is released its £7.99 or £13.99 as with todays Breath of Fire III.
I’d love to download Breath of Fire III but i brought the disc (although second hand) for less than that including delivery.
Is FF& and MGS more expensive because they where originally multiple discs therefore large dowloads? If so how come BOF III is even more expensive being 1 disc?
I’d love to use the PSN store a lot more but it’s just too expensive, I wouldn’t pay those prices in shops but luckily most shops are cheaper.
I admit there are a few gems to be found in there and some psp stuff is cheaper than Play.com but there majoroty of the store is pretty overpriced. Is there any reason for this?

I’d be happy if the updates could happen at a regular time. “Sometime on Thursaday” is not particularly professional now is it? I’m sorry to use the ‘M’ word, but I don’t have this problem from Microsoft on Wednesday.
And now Sony are even daring to contemplate “charging” it’s customers for the use of PSN!!!! Seriously! If Sony can’t manage its Playstation Network for free, how is adding the pressure of ‘paid subscription’ going to make PSN better? Not forgetting the fact Sony would’ve lied to us AGAIN, by initially promising PSN would always be free.
You need to get people who understand gamers into the decision process, and not accountants who’ve never even played a PS3.
Sort out a regular update time, instead of messaging everyone about (it’s not as if you guys don’t know it’s coming).

“thing is though u can rent new films releases on xbox live u cant on ps3 11.99 to buy only for new releases which defeats purpose of movies store . people want to rent then maybe buy”
Movies generate higher numbers at retail than they do at rental when released, so clearly you don’t have a clue what “people” want.

k guys stop asking for ff tactics as a ps1 classic,
1) it never had an eu ps1 release back in 97 anyway.
2) uhh square enix + dlc = no hope in hell
3) ask for the psp game instead.
and a suggestion to mike. i know how long it takes to localise a game. i study games tech at uni. but for those who dont know why not post a comprehensive walkthrough of the process and time limits that way others will finally know why game “x” has been delayed due to localisation issues.

Some of you people should be ashamed.
Weekly we keep getting stuff some free some priced, some cheap some expensive. Instead of people being happy that they give us stuff, they only complaign.
Do i need L&S?? no, but i will not complaign, there will be people that want it or will be happy about it. I dont need stuff like all those songs for rockband either, i will not complaign.
There have been weeks that i havent bought a single thing from the store, that i waited for a patch, so what? They are working on it, they give us updates and others stuff.
Asking about stuff other stores have is futile to, Mike has nothing to do what Japan, usa or even the seperate stores in europe have, i know demos being released on UK only stores not in my store. Should i complaign to mike about that?…

Posted on 26 November, 2009 at 7:43 pm by vavires
I know people using multiple accounts, who have AD hoc from japan, and been playing for months now with their friends, and buy software from us store. If u want something u can get it.
Complaigning about credit cards is not an option, its something that is been done for everything. It is not sony’s fault u can’t get your hands on one.
Mike, i apreciate your work here on the blog and have respect for the way u handle ureself. I work with customers every day to in my job, and somethimes they can push you to the limit, showing u no respect at all. but dont forget u do a GREAT job here.
Vavi.

Hey Mike
While wading through all these comments i hope you see this because i just have a small question.
I noticed that MGS has a nice boarder around the icon, marking it as a PS1 Classic, but the PS1 Classic out today does not. Will this boarder only be used for the more… “elite” PS1 games or was it a one time thing with MGS?
Thanks
BTW i think you guys who manage the store do a goo job, i know i moan sometimes (who doesn’t) but overall i appreciate what you guys do every week for us

“PSone (emulated for PS3 and PSP)

OW common!!! How pathetic can it be?! That’s the second joke classic we’re getting. Where are MGS, FFVIII, RE2, Suikoden, Gex 1 and 3 etc.etc.etc?!
And where the “f” is the trophy patch for Disgaea 3 Nippon Ichi, which you’ve promised to launch in Autumn.

“Since then, some moron….sorry, ‘accountant’ thought it would be better to save the money from not licensing and installing the emulation tools within future PS3 units, than actually make money by selling the emulated games on PSN. I’m sure the immediate savings were notable, but nothing compared to the money Sony could’ve made in the long run”.
PS2 compatibility on the old 60gb models is done via hardware (on the US/JP models) and via a combined hardware+software solution on the PAL models. it was dropped in order to remove the PS2 components from the manufacture of the PS3 at a significant saving. the 60gb model had manufacturing costs of $850 and being sold retail at $600. it’s ridiculous to think that was even remotely sustainable for the longterm viability of the platform. the majority of people buy a PS3 for new HD-gaming and if it means ditching last-gen in order to fund new game development, they’d do it.
