It’s a bad metaphor…granted. It doesn’t even make sense but it doesn’t mean this update is any less great because of it. In fact, the distinct woefulness of my title can only enhance the greatness of its content.
Things to Shout About
With our upcoming event on Dec 3 that I am personally branding “VidZone + Groove Armada + Home = WOW” otherwise known as “VidZone exclusively presents Groove Armada to Home,” the launch of the first wave of new countries resulting in a lot of smiling Dutch, Austrian and Portuguese people, and with some equally as happy Scandinavian fellows to follow imminently, everyone at VidZone Towers is in fine spirits, seeing the more flamboyant employees breaking out in sporadic dance routines and the more retiring types settling for a simple high five with a trusted colleague. Go HERE for details of Groove Armada and HERE for country rollout details.
Free Wallpaper
Groove Armada have kindly offered every single VidZone user a free WALLPAPER which you can download from the PlayStation Store TODAY. Available for a limited time only!

Some details:
1. Cant you take away all the censouring?
2. Fast videos seems to lag.
Other than that I only need continously adding of videos and you will have me hooked for a long long time!

Tried again today, still isn’t working. It starts, and I get through the catalogue update screen, but then I get stuck on the “Updating music video streams” screen. Sometimes I get an error message there, sometimes I don’t. I never get past the screen. How annoying.

its amazing where a blog is set up and they want people to send comments/ask questions but when you ask about where artists like aerosmith, guns n roses, house of pain, coldplay etc there is never a reply or reason. would be nice to know if this is a problem with music companies or is sony just being ignorant

@159: ..Aerosmith is..was at least distributed by Sony/BMG as well, no..? ..probably a licensing deal thing.
I’m impressed with the amount of good content, though. Lots of songs that I like, but have never seen the videos for. So ..really great. (I’m marking the calendar – this will be the one time I will ever plug PR pushes from evil record-labels :p)
(Small comments on the interface:
-should probably have a way to jump to the “now playing playlist”. A drop-down sheet so you can flip and move vids, and then continue browsing artists
-slowdowns when flipping through the playlists. Maybe create a floating focus-control, and let the users skip through the menus with the thumbstick, viewing only text – then loading the pictures when the list stops.
-adding videos to multiple playlists.. doesn’t seem to work.
-moving videos in playlists, or adding multiple videos.. a push right in the list (nudge the square box right), then pick option later, move multiple vids to list, collect downwards after each other, skipping the ones not selected, that kind of thing..?
Otherwise.. simplistic == great. Thumbs up.)

VidZone is broken for me.
It seems to work fine until it wants to display an advert (now playing goes blank), then it will get stuck on the loading circle and never progress on to the advert or next track. Because adverts cannot be skipped, it locks VidZone from working until I quit and load it again.
I tried deleting the VidZone data from Game Data which allowed one advert to play, then after a few music tracks it hit another advert and got stuck again.

2 suggestions
1. Queue next. (add to playlist after current song)
2. Go to artist. (when searching for video name/genre)
These options can be put in the dropdown menu.

Even though Metal has been splitted from Rock, which I´m thankful, the search by genre is still…let´s be kind, defective.
If I search in the Letter “C”, I get Christina Aguillera, for example, amidst Bollywood and other stuff that is not at all metal…ish.
Is it possible to fix this? Or to see what´s new,I still have to search letter by letter, on the artist search, spending quite a lot of time?

Can’t wait for next thursday when Vidzone comes live in Switzerland!
Some tips for a future update:
1. Share playlists with friends: It would be great if you could send your playlist with your favorite tunes to somebody. I think Vidzone would benefit a lot through this kind of advertisement
2. Keep the recommended playlists or make a new archive folder. Sucks when you have a good recommended playlist, and a week later its gone.
3. A clever music system where you can choose which type of music you like and it informs you on new music in this genre.
4. Request tab: Where users could make tips for tunes which are missing on Vidzone. You can then look at the results and react very fast on new trends, etc. (for example if you get 100000 requests for Slipknot, you know that you have to put it up)
5. A last session “Play now” tab: where you could look which songs you listened in your last session.
6. A premium service: For a small yearly fee, you can cut out the advertisements. That would be really nice, and I think a lot of people would use this method.
Else: Keep up the good work. I already discovered a lot of bands which I didn’t know before. Great app

Should rename VidZone to OneVidZone… it plays ONE video then hangs – and has been doing this for almost a month now. This happens ALL the time, to me and everybody I know. They don’t respond to complaints on twitter about this problem. Some people say “don’t use openDNS”, but that’s nonsense. I’m not using openDNS. The application is now entirely useless.
