‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (10th December 2009)

So, we’re into the business end of the year; three more store updates to go, and then the festivities begin. :)

Things are ramping up in terms of content, and I’m sure there is something that caters to everyone’s tastes in each of the updates that round out the year. We’ll also have a new batch of Special Offers next week to see out the year too, so keep your eyes peeled for those.

To start us off this week though, for PS3 we have the anticipated PixelJunk Shooter, combining old school mechanics and the usual quirky styling you expect from the guys behind the PixelJunk games.

Moving on to the PSP, we have a new batch of minis available (don’t forget from the 17th minis will be playable on PS3 too), and you can also grab digital copies of Avatar and Tekken 6 (this title is not available until Friday however) too.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that there is additional Metal Gear Solid love for PSP this week, with the digital releases of Portable Ops, Portable Ops + and the Digital Graphic Novel.

There is plenty more available however, so for the full run down of content, scroll down for more.

Hmmmmm Shooter it is then!

Any idea on times of the update mike or will it be a late one? cheers

PixalJunk PixalJunk PixalJunk sweet

No PSone titles? :’(

I think you’ll find it’s “old skool” :P

any news on adhocParty yet?

Decent update I guess….Ill probably pick up shooter, but considering the difficulty of the last 3 games i dont know if ill bother..They were just to frustratingly hard..

Suppose I’ll wait for the next update to see if there’s something to my taste there then. :P Nothing for me this week.

wicked news about adhocParty cheers. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for 22nd.
thanks.

any updates on the ps1 titles? vagrant story and ff8?

    Mike Kebby 10 December, 2009 @ 2:07 pm

Looks like they’ll be coming sometime after the New Year now, the emulation process for PSone titles is quite drawn out.

Nice update will be picking up shooter cheap killzone for psp and the uncharted digital comics :)

Hey what’s this, the people who bought the Uncharted Motion Comics when they came get to pay thesame but don’t get any exclusive multiplayer skins?

What’s up with taht?

Not a bad update with plenty of content so some regulars on here will have to find something else to moan about.

PixelJunk Shooter looks pretty cool so I will buy that.

Next weeks release of Blue Toad Murder Files is what I am really looking forward to. Looks fantastic!

SuGaR_rAy_RiDeR 10 December, 2009 @ 2:06 pm   14

not a great update, some nice special offers though, lets hope we have something lined up for xmas…hint hint (maybe FF8 :-)) don’t suppose you if we are getting any psone classics for the rest of this month….i know it’s getting old but i might as well ask before someone else on here unleashes hell on you :-)

sowasred2012 10 December, 2009 @ 2:07 pm   15

Whoah, whoah, whoah – Mike, I’ve bought three of the Uncharted comics already and was planning to get the 4th one shortly, do you know if the skins come with the fourth one? I don’t wanna spend money on buying the bundle just to get them…

Otherwise, good update! :D

Is there any possibility that we can go a week without any stinking chatter about PS1 classics… please!…. god forbid… give the man a rest

TehDarkLocke 10 December, 2009 @ 2:07 pm   17

No info on CRASH BANDICOOT 2?

Please, it’s a Sony published game and you promised to look into it in one of your replies

Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot Warped and Crash Team Racing are all up on the store. Why not Crash 2, the best one IMO?

Also, info on Vagrant Story?

ljforlozz 10 December, 2009 @ 2:08 pm   18

Whens resident evil 2 coming to classics??

Nice update, this week :)
I’m looking forward to trying some Mini’s on my PS3!

I won’t bore you with my regular ‘FFVIII?’ question this week, but I *do* have another question for you!

Last month, the square enix newsletter said that Vagrant Story would be available on November 12th (I think… it was definitely dated for November though!). A couple of hours later, they sent a new email out but this time it said ‘coming soon…’
Any idea why they changed the release? Can we expect to see that or FF8 this side of Christmas? *only 2 more updates to go!!!*

- Neil

    Mike Kebby 10 December, 2009 @ 2:09 pm

Date was changed because we never gave confirmation – it’s still in the emulation process at the moment, so we’ll see when it’s available (it won’t be this year however it seems).

Hirndoctor 10 December, 2009 @ 2:08 pm   20

Is there a special Theme, such as a ‘xmas theme’ or something like that planned for the next update? That would be very nice ;)

Guillemots 10 December, 2009 @ 2:09 pm   21

Pixel Junk Shooter for me. :)
Question: where’s Dante’s Inferno Demo?

NCFCRulz2007 10 December, 2009 @ 2:09 pm   22

Any news on the next pack for Magic Ball? Cheers

Jack-Bauer-89 10 December, 2009 @ 2:09 pm   23

Might invest in Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops.

Soild_Nat 10 December, 2009 @ 2:09 pm   27

PixelJunk Shooter i think, a great game in the series and at a fair price. I hope some past PixelJunk titles get the special offer treatment in celebration of this release, i never did pick up Eden and i think i should!

Lots happening at Sony HQ this week, new forum design, massive home updates, i just need X-Men available to rent in HD on the vid store this week and you have ticked all the boxes!

Gavin_Rozee 10 December, 2009 @ 2:10 pm   28

A good PSP update. Portable Ops would be mine if I didn’t already own it.

Props to Konami for not charging 31.99 GBP (LOL Tekken 6!!!).

Smegzilla 10 December, 2009 @ 2:10 pm   29

I can only get the free stuff off the store at the moment ’cause I had £75 nicked out of my wallet the other day.

Looking forward to Blue Toad Murder files next week though, but I’ll probably have to get it after xmas. Will be sweet though.

Dante’s Inferno is exclusive release in the US not PAL. It will be with us in a couple of weeks when Xbox Live gets it too

xchris2008x 10 December, 2009 @ 2:10 pm   31

I’ll grab the Uncharted comics/skins, Eyepet freebie and the fairytale demo thing might be fun going by the videos I watched

Just under £9 for Portable Ops?! Get in! :D I thought they may wait until Peace Walker is nearly out then release it strategically then. So glad they didn’t :)

NCFCRulz2007 10 December, 2009 @ 2:13 pm   44

Regardless, great update this week. I’ll probably pick up PixelJunk Shooter and Call of Duty Classic.

AcidCrashX 10 December, 2009 @ 2:13 pm   46

HEEEEY MIKEFACE!!

holy balls that’s a lot of content.

question, Portable Ops and Portable Ops+ … why is the 1st Portible Ops more expensive than +? .. i thought + was out after with more content? :S

Thanks for the update Mike. how you finding your new position btw? ^_^

ACX

    Mike Kebby 10 December, 2009 @ 2:18 pm

I think Portable Ops + offers less content, hence the cheaper pricepoint.

The new position is great, extremely hectic, but great thanks :P

TehDarkLocke 10 December, 2009 @ 2:14 pm   47

If you don’t have any info on Crash 2, you could at least say that you don’t have any info on it…

Nice update though, and thanks for the hard work you’re doing on the store…

    Mike Kebby 10 December, 2009 @ 2:20 pm

Sorry there, I don’t have any specifics regarding Crash 2, I believe there is some legal clearance that we don’t have for this region – hopefully something can be sorted, but I don’t know if this is possible yet.

fuzzygnome 10 December, 2009 @ 2:14 pm   48

looks a bit weak this week. but next week we should get gt academy time trial. should keep me amused.

DuDeAcIoUs 10 December, 2009 @ 2:15 pm   49

Hi mike, thanks for another good update. Just 1 question for you, Any news on Pro Evo coming out?? itsbeen out in stores for around 3 weeks? Anyway thanks again :)

Gavin_Rozee 10 December, 2009 @ 2:15 pm   50

I highly recommend that people buy Portable Ops. Not only is it great, but I really appreciate that Konami are asking such a good price and not ripping off their customers.
