‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (17th December 2009)

[Update 2] Our issues have now been resolved and Blue Toad Episode 2 (and the Episode 1 + 2 Bundle) are now back on the store! We apologise again for the inconvenience.

[Update] Apologies for the inconvenience some of you have had with Blue Toad Murder Files Episode 2 (and the Bundle of Episodes 1 and 2), we are working on our error now, and will have the correct files up on the store for download again very soon.

Those of you who have already downloaded this content should delete the original content from your console, and then download the content again from your download list later today. As of writing this, the problem is still being rectified, but it should be resolved very soon.

Many thanks for your patience, and apologies again for the inconvenience.

Good morning – the store will be updated nice and early today, so I’m still a little bleary eyed :-)

Our batch of special offers for the festive period begins today, but we’ll also be adding a few more titles next week too. From today though, you’ll be able to grab games such as Burn Zombie Burn!, Bomberman Ultra and Battlefield 1943 at lower prices.

Also following the firmware update last week, minis now join the fun on PS3, so you can now enjoy the majority of our minis on both formats.

Next week we’re updating the store on Tuesday the 22nd of December, and then that’s it for the holidays – normal service will resume from Thursday the 7th of January.

Finally, as a personal Christmas gift to some of you lucky, lucky readers, I have some codes I’ll be giving out over the next week – there is no competition to enter – all I’ll be doing is scouring your comments and giving codes out to those who have left constructive/commendable feedback (think of this as a ‘letter of the week’ type deal, except it’s more ‘comments of the week’). These codes will be sent from my store management PSN account and will give you your code directly, so it’ll be safe and secure.

Hopefully all the above will give you additional festive cheer, and I’ll see you in the comments as usual.

Laters!

Hey Mike.

Thanks for the awesome update this week.

You guys are going to leave me with no money to buy Christmas presents with all this great content! :D

I’ve already had a crack at the GT5 Time Trial demo; it’s great. I think I better keep practising though after that time I just set. If there was a leaderboard for the slowest times, I’d probably be up there. :(

On a more serious note, there is just one thing though. The description on the ‘Seasonal Offers’ tab is incorrect. :P The current description is taken from last years seasonal offers so that needs to be changed if possible. ;)

Thanks again, and I look forward to Tuesday’s update next week. It’s shaping up to be another fantastic one with the LBP PoTC/Water pack and Hustle Kings (am I right? :P) amongst other surprised I’m sure you guys have under wraps. ;)

Merry Christmas. fords

Too bad I suck at giving constructive feedback, anyways thanks for the update…english peace walker demo…sweet.

Arrrgh! Where the hell is the SOCOM Cold Front DLC? Where Kebby? WHERE!?

Hey Mike

Great update. Got one question:

Is there a difference between GT5 Time Trial Challange and GT academy Demo??

Thanks in advance

    Mike Kebby 17 December, 2009 @ 11:37 am

One allows you enter the GT Academy comp, and the other is for those countries which can’t enter – therefore you all get to play the game at least :)

howdy mike, was surprised at such an early update, and even though i complain every week nothing there for me to get and wheres my ps1 classic, the mgs peace walker demo is awesome so for once i wont complain :)and my psp can get some much needed dusting off.

merry xmas mike

and we get the eng demo for peace walker before america so finally get to rub it in their face we got something good before them

AcceptedWaInut 17 December, 2009 @ 11:36 am   6

Argh, EU screwed over with socom yet again. Wheres the Cold Front DLC!!??

Army of Two 2?
Puzzle Quest reduction?

PEACE WALKER DEMO!?
AWESOME UPDATE MIKEFACE! THANKLES!

*tries to think of something to grab Mikefaces attention and get secret code*

In all seriousness thanks for a great few months at the PSBlog. Since the blog’s been around the content that’s been updated has been top notch and everyone who posts is always willing to answer some questions and I’m very grateful to feel ‘in the loop’ with whats going down in the world of playstation. I hope that this continues to grow in 2010!
:D
ACX

PS. Soooo close to getting my platinum on AC2 except I didn’t kick a dude while flying! Now I have to play through the game again just to get that one trophy FML! >.<

    Mike Kebby 17 December, 2009 @ 11:39 am

Aaargh, missing that trophy in ACII is a pain – but you get to play the game again, which is a good thing in itself ;)

Great update ;-)

Just finished chapter 1 on Blue toad, and got a top 20 time in GT Academy! This will keep me going for the winter!

heathengray 17 December, 2009 @ 11:37 am   9

Bomberman Ultra… £3.99

Thank you! This is the best Xmas ever… now my neighbour and I will have even less braincells with which to celebrate the new year, judging from the amount of time we spent drinking and playing Super Bomber Man 2

I just noticed the Permanent reductions… Dead Head Fred might be worth purchasing again for that price, just to have it always on the card!

Mike…your awesome n all but I’M UNEMPLOYED!! lmao How is this for a U Turn your releasing too much for my wallet :’(

hehe yeah tho but loving the updates the past 6 weeks all been quality. Loving the Early update i enjoyed going through the store with my tea and toast hehe. Peace Walker demo was a lovely surprise i gave up on the japanese one i couldn’t get passed the beginning LOL.

Hope Santa is as good to you as you are us.

*ponders do i splash out on a few special offers or wait for tuesday*

Smeghead42 17 December, 2009 @ 11:38 am   11

Say, i’ve been to my Brutal Legend Trophies and new solo players appeared. But the pack on store only talk about multiplayer maps! can youtell me exactely what’s inside? thanks a lot a keep up the good work!

Well, hopefully this will be a week where no one complains or states that the update “sucks” or whatever else we see trotted out every other week!

Plenty of things on there for everyone, and I cannot wait to try out Dante’s Inferno but now I have the problem of spending loads this week and next! Oh well, what do I need money for over Christmas? ;)

One thing I would like to ask, though, is do you have any idea when Abe’s Odyssee/Exodus will be released over here?

Anyway, top update so thanks once again. :)

nukester84 17 December, 2009 @ 11:38 am   13

downloading the army of two 2 demo now and redownloading my psp minis. merry chrimbo and happy new year mike. hope to see one last good update of the year.

    Mike Kebby 17 December, 2009 @ 11:39 am

This is the last ‘big’ update of the year, but there will be some good content still on Tuesday.

I know I give the store some stick but this year brought so many great games. Shatter, Flower, Fat Princess, Gravity Crash, Pixel Junk Shooter. So hats off to you guys for providing me with some cracking titles that kept me busy.

Tridentmorph 17 December, 2009 @ 11:39 am   15

Great update, just blown over £30 on new stuff. Can’t wait for the blue toad murder files to download, looks really interesting.

Cheers for a great Christmas treat.

when do we get ffviii? any word? great update btw :) love the price drops :) a couple of games like puzzle quest i always thought of getting but price put me off.

micromagic 17 December, 2009 @ 11:39 am   17

Wow, never seen an update so big. Good work guys. My wallet is going to shed a few tears.

Noisepurge 17 December, 2009 @ 11:39 am   18

awesome! Mike, how about some new user-avatars ;D

Very nice and big update today but can you please give us an update on the Socom: Cold Front DLC.

Great update this week – and with the LBP expansion pack next week is looking strong too, so you guys are certainly ending the year strongly.

really pleased with the price on Braid too – will definitely be picking that one up.

@Mike Kebby

FF8=???????????????????????????????????????? WHEN

can’t wait to try out more new minis, also liking the amount of xmas special offers.
merry christmas mike

Shadow-King 17 December, 2009 @ 11:42 am   23

Awesome update, just wish i had more money to buy all the stuff i want :(

yeah ! Great update ! Thanks Mike.

Dante’s Inferno demo coming next week, I guess ?

Merry christmas, happy new year, happy birthday ! Good holiday too !

Thanks again for your post !

(Sorry I’m French, my english is not so good xD)

Blue Toad Murder Files for the win! Been awaiting its release since Eurogamer Expo. (now all I need is a PSN card for christmas XD)

It’s still a shame that Tetris will not be available for the PS3, but will redownload the other minis I purchased earlier. Am very curios.

PuzzleQuest for the PSP is a must buy at that price! :O Shame I already have it on UMD.

THAT is an update! Very nice one, thank you very much !

I’d type something constructive but my keyboard seems to be full of sand from all the time I’ve spent spinning off the track in GT5.

Looking forward to the LBP/PoTC stuff!!

Hi :)
Was really looking forward to Blue Toad Murder Files™, any release date available for Australia?
With the imminent comic store and video store coming soon, I’d just like to suggest something a little more eye catching to access them along with the little tabs at the top of the store, maybe some icons on the xmb, or a kind of in-store xmb with games, videos, comics being the main category icons; and new releases, A to Z, minis, etc, being the vertical icons. Even perhaps just making the game/video/comic tabs a different colour?
All the best Mike :)

This must be one of the better PS Store updates for us europeans in a while! Just downloaded the GT time trial and Army of two demo. And finally Braid is available for us too! I’m really exited to try it out later this christmas.

Thanks for the update. Will there be any more store updates before new year?

and mike please say we get a disney game on tuesday, wouldnt be xmas without one :P

Braid — not in Russia? Why?

Chrisalddin 17 December, 2009 @ 11:45 am   32

hi mike!

got some question for you

Yu-Gi-Oh GX Tag Force 3 for the psp comming to psn?

and i know that on umd Yu-Gi-Oh Tag Force 4 is out on UMD on the 22/01/2010 well that be on PSN as well?

i just need to know if there in the pipe line atall no Dates just well we get them Some time!

next do you think you can chat to them developers/publishers about pricing! 31.99 for a psp game is just To high!!!! the most it shode ever be is 29.99 same a RRP ( you can not RRP a UMD game at 29.99 and then PSN Sell a game for 31.99 i know it not Sony who do this but the developers/publishers it time some one had a word and i like you to have a go at the lest at geting the developers/publishers to see this is not right!

have a good day mike and a nice week

merry x-mas XisTG, merry x-mas (smiling in a mccauley “home alone” culkin way).

UmiChan_88 17 December, 2009 @ 11:45 am   34

Yay nice & large update today :3! , minis, some good deals, the gt5 Academy time trial, braid the singstar viewer… nice update there :D . The only thing i think that will make tahat update better.. will be maybe new users avatar, a twitter app (that would be nice =P), and maybe the option to can make gifts to friends over the store..

But anyway as i said nice & large update, and Merry xmas to all the people!! ^^

ChemicalBacon90 17 December, 2009 @ 11:45 am   35

I think someone needs to ask Santa for a watch this Christmas. lol
(http://twitter.com/mikeck/status/6759425875)

Saying that, it’s my own fault for not remembering SCEE time is usually a fair bit behind.

Only joking! :D

That’s a stellar update this week guys. Great job.

Re: AcidCrashX
I think there will be a flying section in one of the DLC for ACII. Not 100% but I caught a glimse of the wings in this video http://kotaku.com/5427960/patrice-explains-the-assassins-creed-ii-dlc

OH! OH! Mr Kebby!
Can I have a present please?! Pretty please? I’ve been so good this year and I worked really hard to get my PSN level up and I bought heaps of PSN stuff and I think Playstation is really wizard!

Pleeeeeeeeaaaase!

Excellent work im a first time poster and i couldnt pick a better time.Since jumping ship from the 360 i have not stopped being amazed by the quality of games the ps3 recieves.Yeah theres some parts that need updating but what console dosent. The thing that ups the ps3 game is the community, They actually help and listen.
Got myself some minis and im eyeing up bluetoad murders as it looks great.
Thanks for your help, advice and news mike.Have a great christmas and keep the ps3 dream alive!!!!

GhostViper 17 December, 2009 @ 11:49 am   39

Wow, updating before I wake up. Nice work. (But i slept until noon. Holiday :D). If you keep this up, your gonna empy my wallet before I’ve bought all the christmas pressants. But still, keep up the good work ;)

Wow. That’s an awful lot… You mentioned the update was to arrive “nice and early”? I have stuff to do at 4 pm, can I look forward to checking the new stuff out before?

And I know it has been mentioned before, but are the minis compatible with shining HD? I tried to vacuum the thread regarding the firmware update which enabled the minis support, but it didn’t seem that any answer was evident.

Anyway, I’ve been looking forward to Braid ever since it took over the 360, so I’m psyched any way!

Nice update!

RothenburgODT 17 December, 2009 @ 11:49 am   41

Great Woden’s Sword! That’s a sizable chunk of special offers!
I highly recommend Kula world to anyone who likes puzzle games, I originally had it on PS1 and loved it, bought it ages ago when it was first released.
Now if only they’d release Kurushi (a.k.a. Intelligent Qube), that would make me a very happy chappie!
Looks like I’ll be buying another PSN card for some of this stuff, I’ve got enough to cover Braid and the LBP content next week, but I gt the feeling I’ll be topping up my account in case a couple of other gems/surprises pop up on the 22nd!!

Dear Santa, can I please have Prince of Persia Classic on next week’s special offers, it would be great, I love rudolph and mince pies, thanks.

P.S. Mike, is that an error on the Lemmings prices, the old prices don’t look right!?

Hey, thanks for the early publish mike :D

Also, ive seen that the minis category has been put on the front page, so what did it replace? Ive forgotten what was there. Also, The price reductions on the PSP titles are awesome too, £15.99 down to £2.39 is excellent! Ill be buying a couple of those too hopefully support overs doing the same, and they do look quite good too.

Oh, one more thing. I can’t wait for the LittleBigPlanet Pirates Of The Caribbean pack, will the store be published early again on Tuesday so i can buy it as soon as possible? Thanks in advance.

Tons of games I’m gonna be buying this week. My poor little credit card. Awesome update. The pride reductions are particularly favourable.

Also any news on a possible release of Braid for the Netherlands. I understand that in this cause it wasnt submitted for the respective country store, but will we ever see it?

And will we see more Final Fantasy titles appear in the coming weeks leading to the release of Final Fantasy XIII?

Mike!

Please, tell us when we’ll get avatars? I’m US based so if you know anything about the US store, tell me too.

It’s been like three months since the September update!

Cool update.

BTW, what has happened with Konami? First we had to beg for months just to get a little MGS love here in Europe, now suddenly they’ve been showering us with content!

Mike, I hope you’ve not been bribing or extorting anyone, we were just joking when we suggested that! :D
