With the release of MAG not far off now, I’m pleased to announce that following our successful series of Beta programs, Zipper and Sony Computer Entertainment will team up in January to bring you the final and 100% open PSN Beta!
This will be a global Beta allowing you to compete with players from all over the world, with access to the game’s 64-player ‘Sabotage’ and 256-player ‘Domination’ game modes. New Beta users will have access to the download on the PlayStation Store from January 4th onwards, with the Beta ending on January 11th at 07:59 GMT.
Now that you know when to get the MAG Beta, your path to playing it is a simple three-step process:
- Log on to the PlayStation Store and download the MAG Beta file like you would any other freely-available PSN video or demo (37 MB)
- Launch the MAG Beta program from your XMB to download a special patch that will restart MAG once the update has been received (another 38 MB)
- After the reboot, the beta will reconnect and download the actual game data so that you can play (1.8 GB – 2.3 GB depending on your region)
Pre-existing MAG Beta trialists will be able to download the new Beta 5 update from 13:00 GMT tomorrow, December 22nd. This should give you plenty of time to get hold of the new data set before the trial begins in earnest on the Jan 4th, but the game servers won’t be operational until then.
I would like to thank the community for all their support of the game and wish you a merry Christmas and happy New Year!

ok beta testing over and here r my thoughts…..
graphics – pretty good however for sure could utilize the ps3 power better to make them sharper and clearer…..also didnt look like it was full hd (maybe changed for release)???
gameplay – fun and good longevity when trying to get into the 256 online player…however….respawning takes way too long (up to 20 seconds….whats up with that????) after respawn shooting automatically other players if i was firing before killed (not a good thing and also when u get killed by the same thing isnt so good)….ok fair play that we have our own “bases” but when u get killed and then respawn, run out of the base and then get shot right away it kinda takes the fun away from it (many times i waited just by the opponents “respawn” base to just rain down bullets on them) need to have random area to spawn too

online play – when i EVENTUALLY (after many many tries of getting onto the servers) sitting for 5 mins waiting for a game to start isnt a good sign….and then when u get into the game……TOO MUCH LAG!! (possible beta server problem??) this 100% needs to b sorted out for release…256 players online at the same time….i thought “this will b awesome” but no…big disappointment….ur split into platoons and then into squads…..so really maybe only 30-40 ppl playing against each other in any one area….so yes 256 online at same time..but 256 playing each other
overall decision….good game….needs a bit more work graphically and with the online servers but i think i will b buying this game
B+
