It’s the last update of the year; I can’t believe it! I think we’ve made inroads into improving the store this year, and of course I have high hopes that we’ll carry this momentum on into 2010.
As with last week, we’re feeling generous, so I have some codes to give away (these codes will be for one piece of content available via the store) – there is no competition to enter, I’ll just be reading all the comments and giving codes out to those I deem the best comments made. Think of this as the blog version of ‘letters of the month’ you find in print magazines
I’ll respond on the blog to tell you you’ve got a code, and then I’ll send it to you via a PSN message.
Onto the content this week then – Hustle Kings is here, and offers all you wannabe hustlers out there to chance to show off your skills with the cue. The classic RPG Vagrant Story also arrives, and is available to play on both PS3 and PSP.
We have our first batch of premium avatars available on the store; and these are all from the world of LittleBigPlanet, so know you can personalise your PSN ID with some of the sackboy costumes we’ve previously released.
AdhocParty is also available today, so now you can download this onto your PS3 and utilise it with the titles Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy: Dissidia and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
Finally, as promised, there are a few more titles added to the Special Offers (with two more additions being made on Christmas Eve), including our favourite fair maiden, Fat Princess – all the details below.
That’s it from me this year, but I’ll be around in the comments as usual.
Have a great Christmas and New Year, and I’ll catch you in 2010!

Great update, can’t wait to get home and have a crack at the LBP stuff. Some nice asvings to be had too, I’d been holding off on buying Trine but I reckon I might have to take the plunge over Christmas.

Yeah, Vagrant Story!
Never played it in my PSOne time and after finishing FFVII maybe on the train today a good way to “wast” my time while waiting for FFVIII, Crisis Core and Dissidia in Europe.
Nearly had bought my an older PSP just for the last two games^^
Merry Christmas to you all and thanks for this update

Oh, and to those asking about White Knight Chronicles, GAME.co.uk says it’s coming on 26th Feb, of course they’re not Sony but it seems about right considering the US release around the same time.

I Think its great the LBP releases new content just before christmas. Its giving me fond flashbacks to last year, desperatly trying to survive in the VR training on christmas eve. its also epic to see new avatars as well. Thank you for this Smashing update.
Merry Christmas and have a great holiday everyone! : )

Ah, Vagrant Story. Many dark hours have been consumed into that game in the past.

Hustle kings before Christmas!
Talk about dramatic late entrance, this has made my day. And a bargain at £6.29 in my eyes. Even the special offers are reasonable this week. Shooting up a game of pool with my old man and blowing him up in worms should make the festive week fly by. Many thanks!

Thanks Mike
I think there is now a superb amount of content on psn. As a GO owner I was a bit unsure about some of the earlier psp updates, but they seem to be coming along fairly well each week now.
Is they any way in future of knowing about the psp releases in advance?
To you and all of your team, keep up the good work and merry xmas

“Premium Avatars!! Did i read that right?
Finally great update….”
Hahaha, that’s exactly what I thought!
I’m so buying the LBP Level Kit and I’m glad that the costumes can be bought separately… but then again, maybe I’ll just buy the Costume Kit
Merry Christmas!

The list keeps getting longer and longer, with some terrific special offers
: sweet prices for Trine, Worms and Fat Princess, everyone should take advantage of these offers to give the games a well deserved go.
Seeing Vagrant Story on the Store is also wonderful news, as it is one of the finest PSone games.
Enjoy Christmas and holidays Mike, and keep up the good work next year ^^ (can’t wait for Castle Crashers, next thatgamecompany game, and PixelJunk Shooter Encore !).

I believe this is my first comment on the blog!
I’ve been keeping my eyes out for Hustle Kings ever since the first details were released, so I’m absolutely delighted that it is finally here! Good price too!
Had my PS3 since September 2007 and it’s been great to see it’s progression in terms of features and quality of games. This years highlight has definately been the creation of this blog. Before, we used to have to rely on third party rumours, so it is great to get an official word and some communication between the entire community – So thanks Mike and all involved.
Have a good christmas everybody!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to EVERYONE at Sony!
Now please take the time off, refuel, and enjoy your holiday! You deserve it!
What an amazing great final update for the year as well!
And speaking of the year, it has been a rampant one for the PlayStation family, reflected in both quality AND sales (two things you don’t often see correlate) and I’ve never been happier supporting the PlayStation brand!
Keep doing what you are doing Sony, your philosophy is perfect and once again, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Nice last update for this year
Good to see that the premium avatars are finally being released, not too expensive either. Im hoping for some Dutch versions in the future, maybe a cow being milked with some good looking redlight district girls hehe.
Ive recently bought a psp and missed the last special offer of the Red Alert PSOne games, any info that there will be a pricedrop for those soon? Or a combopackage price reduction?
tnx merry christmas and a happy new year to you all

How cruel of you Mike, towards us Go owners, to say we can use Dissidia with ad-hoc party. Although MHFU would make for some true epicness. Just wish my PS3 was wired xD
Also, Vagrant Story + Sackboys of the Caribbean = instant win. Not a bad update at all =)
Merry Christmas, new year’s eve and all that Mike et al.at EUPSN store!

Well even with all the hype behind it I was never convinced about Fat princess. With a little price drop I may just give it a go. Same kinda goes for Burn Zombie Burn. And I finally get to a taste of Dantes Inferno. I have friends that have been playing it and loving it, So I finally get to catch up.
Great update. Thanx to all at playstation bolg. It has been a great source of information to me. Can’t wait to pre-order my coppies of Heavy Rain and God of War special editions. And I know this will be the place to find out how much and where and when I can buy them.
See you all in the new year.

“Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP) (was – £23.99/€29.99 now – £16.99/€20.99) (reduced until the 21st of January)”
Correction: It was at 39.99€ (at least in the Spanish store), so it’s even a better sale.
I wasn’t expecting premium avatars, maybe I’ll buy one. I’m also interested in Vagrant Story and the new LBP level pack.

You had me worried then! Not a single mentionof the LBP water add-on in your initial spiel. Damn you, you big tease! Thankfully we’ll get to splash around over xmas, yay! Seems weird to be playing in the warm waters of the Caribbean though when I’m snowed in…

Strange, I can’t comment using my PS3′s browser.. I wonder if the problem’s in my PS3 or the site. Any ideas?
Anyways, thanks for yet another great update! Vagrant Story and Premium Avatars sound like a good way to bring some extra light into my Christmas, haha! Great to see Adhoc coming our way too. Now all we’d need is FFVIII, but I suppose we can wait for that while we enjoy the other great PSOne title.:-)
I had a question, though: do you suppose the free add-ons for inFamous and Tekken 6 are coming here at some point? I’d love to have the in-game items I missed when I was late for preorders.

Merry Christmas to all of the playstation europe staff and blog readers! my copy of demons’ souls arrived last week, so if i invade your world, then so be it! and i am SO buying warhawk at that price. although it is kind of silly that the dlc bundle now costs more than the game itself. oh well! have a fantastic holiday everyone, and look forward to commenting more in the new year (you can add me on psn if you see fit

Question about minis on PS3 – are they achieved through recompiling with a PS3 version of the minis SDK? Or are they run in a PSP emulator for PS3 engine, like how PSOne games are run? And if the latter, then could it be possible one day to see PSP games running directly on PS3 through emulation? Like Resistance Retribution running on PS3 for example?

Hey Mike
Happy Christmas & have a Happy New Year
Few Questions / Problems
1) will Kato-San actually be released today ? , it was listed on thursday but nothing came
2) Flavor Flav (PAIN DLC) has disappeared on the store , was hopeing to get it tommorow when i put some credit on the store
looking forward to playing the LBP dlc , the water will be fun i hope
, do you plan to have temporary price cuts throughout 2010 , like you have done recently , and obvisously this seasonal offers
and fat princess is a bargain
Do you play singstar ?

Kato-San is in the list for today and it will be out today, as for Flavor Flav it should be on the store, we’ll look into that now.
Thanks for the spot
(A code is on it’s way, I’ll tell you what for in the message I send you).

Vagrant story!!! too bad its been clouded a little with america getting ff8 (my favourite game of all time) but o well will finally get a chance to play it. and mike you listed the pirates of the carribean costume wrongly you state
Pirates of the Caribbean Sack Sparrow Costume (£1.59/€1.99)
however its either Pirates of the Caribbean Captain Sack Sparrow Costume (£1.59/€1.99) or
Pirates of the Caribbean Captain Jack Sparrow Costume (£1.59/€1.99)
lol hiw could you not call him captain!

Woo hoo! Vagrant’s Story!!! That’ll keep me entertained over Christmas.
Second update in a row that has something that I’ve been desperate for.
All I’m waiting for now is FFVIII (still due in Jan?), Ninja Gaiden table for Zen Pinball (any news?)and the completely unannounced (take note Playstation Lifestyle) FF Tactics which I’m pretty sure will never grace our fair shores.
Thanks for the update and a Merry Christmas to you and your team.

Christmas has come early, albeit only three days early…
Mike, thank you so much for the heads up. They have been so helpful over the last few months, and I just want you to know how much I appreciate them!
I’m really looking forward to seeing the premium avatars. At just 20p, they’re perfect for mopping up those few extra pennies that remain after buying some other content. Perfect!
Must ask though… could you suggest any of the “minis”? I’ve been looking at them for a few weeks now, and am thinking of buying one or two, but cannot decide which ones look best. Have you got any favourites Mike?
To all at SCEE, and all the EU PSN users, a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!
^^

I have to be honest here, I have yet to play any of the minis myself – I hope to remedy that over Christmas

This year has been the best year for gaming ever. And next year will hopefully be even better. I can’t wait to play Uncharted 2 or ModNation Racers. (When that comes out)
Season’s Greetings to you all!

Hi Mike,
Dont no if you saw my comment last week? Is there any point in having movie trailers on the psn store anymore wouldnt it make more sense to have them on the new movie store? Then you could concentrate on the game side and the movie store team on anything movie related!!!!

Wow… where to start… XD I knew this was going to be Xmas before Xmas but you still managed to surprise me… =P
First off, adhocParty! =^__^= I know many will be eager to jump in on that service and, if there’s any monster hunters looking to meet and hunt with other Scandinavian hunters, look on the forums later today. ;3 With the Special Offer on Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and the awesome demo already out, I hope we get to meet many more hunters ahead~
Then there’s the awesome Pirates of the Caribbean DLC! I’m going to make my littlebigbrothers and friends walk the plank more than once this holiday. XD
Still, the release of the Premium Avatars did surprise me and I’m very curious to see how they look. As well as Vagrant Story that is SO landing on my PS3′s HDD today! How can’t you love an RPG where you can get pursued by mimic chests in love with you because you healed them when the enemy happened to hurt them with their attacks? XD And the overall Special Offers will lead to an additional bunch of titles also landing on my PS3′s HDD today but *cough* we’ll say I got those on Thursday evening. ;D
Thanks for an awesome last update of the year and Merry Xmas to you all from snowy Stockholm~

@tias123 exactly my thought about Dissida.
Well, we’ve got to wait and oooone day all the GO-owner will crash the PSN store server while trying to download Dissidia
Merry Christmas once more
