I could say something corny here about having a “White Christmas” with White Knight Chronicles, but I’ll refrain from that. Just for you.
Instead, I’m here to let you know that the fine folks over in the US have crafted a very informative (if a little over the top!) walkthrough of the White Knight Chronicles battle system. Fans of fantasy RPGs (and/or giant sword-wielding knights) should definitely get a kick out of it.
The video mentions February 2nd as the release date, though this is US only at the moment. We’re still finalising the release date in PAL regions, but be prepared to see a lot more new information on this game here on the Blog in the new year.
Hey everyone! We know we’ve been talking about this game for what seems like an eternity, but we’re finally just a few weeks away from the North American release of White Knight Chronicles International Edition! We know many of you out there have been clamoring for a unique and exclusive RPG experience on the PlayStation 3 and it’s finally coming this February 2nd, 2010.
We also know there have been tons of questions about the combat system, the Georama and customization in White Knight Chronicles. To answer a lot of those questions, we’ve developed a series of videos that we’ll be releasing through IGN to help you get a deeper look into everything this fantastic RPG from Level-5 has to offer!
In case you missed the first one, here it is:
Keep an eye out on IGN in the coming weeks as they release the rest of this video series as we approach our launch on February 2nd, 2010.
Happy Holidays!

I hope you guys finish your little game of calendar darts soon… heh.
This is probably my most anticipated game for next year. It’s kind of annoying that its been a 1 year wait but its going to be awesome nonetheless.

Sorry, but this is not my thing. (I think)

At last it is finally coming. It is a bit annoying that it is coming a few weeks after North America, but it’s less than a month.
SCEE, please can you stop butchering the covers of your games with those pointless PSN circles. This (http://img.game.co.uk/ml/3/4/5/4/345451ps_500h.jpg) could be a great cover if it wasn’t for that circle in the top right hand corner.

I’ve read the post on the Blog.US that mention the languages available for the game.
It says only English(voice and text), French(text) and Spanish(text).
Will there be no Italian?

That narrator was incredibly annoying…. and I agree, I do really want those PSN circles removed, they ruin great looking box art
I also wish that you could get more specific with release dates, with most only being announced 1 or 2 weeks before, with us having to go on the views of retailers.
Will the release at least be February? Because March is already taken for jRPG fans

i agree that this game has been released too late and at a very bad time. Ill be waiting to pick this up in a bargain bin as ill be too busy with Star Ocean TLH International, FFXIII, GOW3 and Heavy Rain.

I think i’ll take this over FFXIII

I have been waiting very patiently for this game to arrive. It’s nice to know it’s only a couple of months away.
Do you know if there will be a Collector’s edition for this game and if there will be a strategy guide?
I tend to swipe a guide for RPG’s. It helps quell my need for collecting all the items.
I’m a massive fan of Level 5 and will look forward to White Knight Chronicles in 2010!

…so, in February-March, that’s:
White Knight Chronicles (English version)
Final Fantasy XIII (English version)
Gran Turismo 5 (Japanese version)
Yakuza 3 (English version)
Yakuza 4 (Japanese version)
Heavy Rain
God of War 3 (with GOW1&2 remakes)
…that I will be buying. Holy…. those two months alone will give me games for the whole year (and ecept for FF13, all PS3 exclusives).
Best February-March ever in gaming?

Is there any chance to fit the Japanese voice track on the European version?

Come on, release it before FF XIII or don’t release it ever.

Is it just me or are you wondering why they make this north american release news for europe?
Guess they traveled to the wrong blog
Second of all why can’t they release american releases in europe aswell since most of europe do understand english.
I mean there are diffrent languages in america aswell but they don’t have to wait until all languages are done before release?
Same thing should go for the psn store if you ask me

This sounds too complicated for nothing, I’d take a PS3 Dragon Quest over this.

so again there are turn based elements :/
dang it
its what turns me off from JRPGs
they all look awesome, they all have great stories and promising skills to use but the fact that all that over the top action is not in real time kills it for me.
on the other hand deamons souls is not getting released in EU anytime soon plus they got hand to hand combat right but there isnt enough magic and over the top anime stuff.
sigh

I really hate that you release games 1 year later of its original release in Japan…it is like knowing that you are buying a game that is already out-to-date…

AzYWaSCrazY, most people in europe may understand “some” english.
I mean, most people in the biggest gaming countries here like:Germany,Spain,Italy and France dubb everything, so what happends when you release an international edition with just english just a few countries+UK pick them up.
Also, since ps3(luckily)is region-free, we can import the version from America through for ex “webbhallen”.

I will buy this game but i just don’t see the point in buying it until i’m done with FF XIII. I just wouldn’t play it.

Why has this game taken over a year to be released and who decided Feb was the best month ? Star Ocean in Jan, Final Fantasy in Mar.
The only games released between Oct – Dec by Sony was Uncharted, Ratchet, Eyepet and the usual singstar/buzz couldn’t this game been added to that period.
Good luck with sales – I may pick up in the autumn

This game has taken too long to release.
Should have been playing it early this year. No point buying this with Final Fantasy XIII releasing almost directly afterwards.
Maybe I’ll pick it up next christmas in a bargain bin. Learn a lesson for WKC2 please.

So, you collect skills, that you unlock through the game – but, the narrator says that the battle can be won, before the fighting even starts. Does that mean it is likely that players will be spending a lot of micromanagement time in the menus, or is it more of a thing of find out what works best, and keep to it, with occasional changes as necessary?
It’ll be nice if you could lock down the local release date, and I’ll look for more on this, here, in the new year, because this game may be interesting.

European release dates are not only determined by the extra localization. It all comes down to the European publisher, in this case SCEE.
You should consider yourself lucky there, since local licensing deals within Sony itself are a lot easier than for example the Demon’s Souls debacle, an award winning, highly acclaimed game that won’t get released in Europe (ever or at least anytime soon) due to not finding a distributor.
Result: shops over here are importing the game (which is great, since I’m able to play it) and if a distributor is finally found, European sales figures will be dead low again, making Europe not a viable market (even though there’s a lot of Europeans that actually bought the US import of the game).
Yes, I as a Flemish Belgian am part of that group of people that doesn’t need a local translation, but venture just across the border into France and things are completely different, they expect a localized version. The same applies to Italy, Spain and Germany. Having a two to three week delay on the game’s release is something we have to live with and just be happy it’s JUST twenty-odd days.

Looking forward to this game!
Please SCEE don’t stop bringing us games just because many PS3 European PS3 owners have no idea about what corporate standards regarding localisation means.
About the “PSN circles removed”, you guys realise that SONY must make people aware about you can also play online on the PS3? MSFT have used this as a selling point, many people used to see XBL as the only way to be able to play online… I recall EB games clerks saying to me when I was purchasing my PS3 back in 2007 “Are you sure? on the X360 you have XBL to play online…I told to myself “[DELETED] with these guys?”
Now people is aware about PSN as a free service to play online and we need to support it

seems like a decent game, although the release period is definitely unfortunate considering previous and successive releases of other jRPGs in that same time frame seem to have this one beat by far… this one’ll just have to get to the back of the line, i guess..
and of less importance: yeah!!! how corny can the narrator be!?

*boom* wait for the battle-gauge to fill *crash*, and then stee-rrike to vanquish your enemies-aah!
..for 16 damage. lol.
..btw.. anyone know if it’s really as childish as it looks? Or if it’s just the… Level 5 type of childishness going on here.. if you understand what I mean..

With the new covers, you have ‘PlayStation Network’ written on the top right corner. There is no need for extra ‘advertising’ of the PSN service on the front cover. Any extra details about the PSN features of the game should be on the back cover. By putting an ugly circle on the cover, it detracts from the quality and can make the game less appealing to customers.
SCEE, the release date for this game should have been announced by now.

PlayStation 3 owners wait ages for an RPG, then THREE come along at once.
Star Ocean International – 12th February
White Knight Chronicles – 26th February
Final Fantasy XII – 9th March
I want to get all these games, but surely somebody at Sony realises that releasing these three titles within the space of a month will impair sales of all games?

Posted on 28 December, 2009 at 9:38 pm by Rubwar
Personally,I think that the release of Final Fantasy 13 in 9th March is a risk factor to the white Knight Chronicles’ sales. Plus, I’m not a graphics psycho, but this game is getting a bit dated… in this industry, the visual impacts means a lot.
Anyway, I’ll try to convince my brother to buy this game.
