Hey everyone,
The PlayStation.Blog EU is now closed for Christmas! We’ve got some messages of goodwill from various developers around the world coming up next week, but other than that things will be pretty quiet around here.
I did, however, want to take this festive opportunity to thank you all for your support over the last six months. I feel that the European Blog has grown and improved tremendously since we started back in May – and you’ve been a key part of that. I’ve created a short list of highlights which demonstrate just some of the milestones we’ve hit over the last six months:
- Welcome – You’ve Been Waiting – Our launch post! Way back on the 28th of May, just a few days before E3 kicked off.
- Live from gamescom: SCEE Press Conference – The gamescom 2009 press conference saw the unveiling of some exciting stuff, like the redesigned PS3, the Video Download Service, PSP minis and the Digital Comics service. All of which are now live and available.
- UNCHARTED 2: gamescom’s Best Console Game – UNCHARTED 2 was crowned the best console game of gamescom 2009. Just one of the many awards the game received over the last six months.
- We’re Going To TGS – Tokyo Game Show 2009 was a landmark trade show for the Blog. The US Blog’s Jeff Rubenstein and I worked together to bring content from Japan to both US and European audiences simultaneously. It worked so well, you can definitely expect to see more of this at future trade shows.
But it doesn’t end there. As we move into 2010 – and a new decade – you can expect more content from more third party publishers, more announcements and more events coverage. You’ve seen my personal pick of the highlights from 2009, but I’m intrigued to find out what yours might be. Let us know in the comments section and, while you’re there, be sure to give us your feedback on the last six months as well as the sort of content you want to see more of in 2010.
Thanks again for reading the PlayStation.Blog EU! Your passion for PlayStation is what keeps it going and we value every single one of you.
Have a happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Here’s to a great 2010!

Merry Xmas and a happy New Year to all in SCEE! The quality of the service has improved immeasurably over the last year, with the blog, Home growing and various announcements where it was thought SCEE had dropped the ball (e.g. God of War Announcement).
My only suggestion for improvement would be a mobile friendly version of the blog, as currently my phone struggles with scroll bars, etc.

I’d like a Music store to launch in 2010 on PSN, TV show content, Cross Game chat for free and not part of the premium service, more developer interviews on the blogs, more guest developer articles, and some crazy contests.

The playstation oficial website is updates once every blue-moon so this is a very good way to get all the latest (reliable) news! Best homepage I’ve ever had!

i guess the chances of a god of war 3 demo being generally available this year are now zero.

Whats up with the delaystation? Peggle and Diner Dash? Bah release dates suck with Sony so badly, that’s why you create a US account and buy a playstation network card from the US
*Although I am not doing this because its violating playstation network terms of service but hey its possible and if Sony is screwing around with me why can’t I with them?*
Maybe Sony should speed things up a little and hopefully wake up… but I know Sony won’t!

It was a..mediocre year, to say the least. A lot of people have seemingly forgot about the travesties given, such as overdue applications just for EU, overdue DLC, poor fan service, and the Firmware 3.0 debacle. The highlights for SCEE as a company? Slim to none. Mike should get top recommendations for his top service and dedication, other than that, response times, attention to fans, and fixing spoken issues are lacking.
Sony themselves have done very well, they’ve taken the fight to Microsoft, They’re preparing some big guns, and they’ve got several very competent first-party producers working for them, but the Sony European sector is one of the most poorly treat in gaming today.
But, since white-knights will be lining up to tear off me testicles for this opinion, I will say an honest Happy New Year, and hoping you all had a great Christmas
