Don’t want to ask a stupid question, but all these people complaining about speed issues, have you entered the psn port settings onto your routers?
If not try this website: http://www.portforward.com/
there’s probably better sites around but it could help you if you’re not port forwarding yet.

May as well reiterate some of the complaints:
Poor selection of films, particularly for rental. You have over 100 years of film history and your own film studio, this shouldn’t be an issue. I know the service is new, but what happened to the 50 updates a week, you’re not even managing double figures.
No TV shows.
5.1 surround sound not available as standard where appropriate.
Non-competitive pricing. SD rentals are OK, but the rest are way off.
Dismal download speeds. For an SD movie, for all but the very worst of connections, you should be able to start watching the film within minutes of deciding to rent/purchase it. Need to be aiming for something similar to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1577
I was really looking forward to the video service but at the moment I’m very disappointed with it. I hope these comments and others are being listened to and are not being treated as the “vocal minority” complaining.
Hopefully these issues are just teething problems, and the service will begin to improve soon, as it has huge potential. Some feedback to indicate that you are listening to the complaints and working to resolve them would go a long way.

Thought it was meant to be out by end of 2009? Maybe early 2010?
Please don’t muck us around with exchange rates either.

When is this coming to Norway? I mean, Nordisk Film(nordic films) is the official playstation importer in Norway. What an opportunity!?
Me, my self will definately use it a lot now when I’ve upgraded to 500GB harddisk in my PS3

When will the Movie Store come to The Netherlands?

Rented my first movie from the store this week. Worked pretty well and the encoding quality seemed good. It did strike me however that no matter how much people talk about the move to digital, the fact is that most internet connections are not fast enough to do this effectively and doesn’t help that downloads get set to paused when PlayTV is running. Took me about 24 hours to grab the HD movie I rented due to a combination of bandwith limitations and the PS3 pausing the download when I tried to do other things like watch TV.
Not blaming Sony for this of course, but I do feel it is a sobering reminder of the reality of where we are in terms of the ‘digital only’ world people love talking about on forums etc.

maybe i’m being cynical but the first reply makes it sound like no work is even being done to bring us tv shows and that there are no plans to start doing any work to bring us tv shows.
if that is the case then that means the video store is a non entity as far as i’m concerned.
sorry, but at those prices and no tv, not interested thanks.

It is down to Sony, plain and simple – if the blog people here aren’t authorised to comment then can you PLEASE give us an email address?
I tried again last night: 1.3Gb SD movie, started at 11pm and took over 10 hours to complete. Overnight my ISP applies no traffic shaping which means I can download anything at line speed, for me that’s just shy of 700k per second. So how the hell does a 1.3Gb file take 10 hours to download?
Not impressed, Sony, not impressed at all

Hi, any chance of us Scandinavians getting the service before the next Playstation arrives ? There are actually people out here that are willing to shell out a few bucks to watch movies legally….

Please don’t bring this service to The Netherlands. It seems that there are so many things wrong with the service that you first should get your act together.

…and another week goes by with no mention at all on why the speeds are so dire.

Well if the blog won’t reply then everyone with a complaint should write to BBC Watchdog and see if Sony will respond to them; clearly they don’t give a rats about paying customers.

So when is this service coming to the rest of Europe?
We’ll probably see Slingbox for PS3 first at this rate.
What’s taking you guys so long?

utter joke . i can download a free demo 3x faster than i can PAYING for a film and it has nothing to do with my internet speed. its the lousy amount of bandwith given from the servers. 4+ hours to download a rip off SD film, no thanks
