Hi everyone!
We’ve had to cross the perilous lands of Pulse and wade through hordes of Chocobos in order to bring this to you, but we’re finally there: FINAL FANTASY XIII will be available in a LIMITED COLLECTOR’S EDITION, from 9th March 2010.
Along with the game, this special edition will include some exclusive pieces of content especially thought for the FINAL FANTASY fan that lies in all of us:
- FINAL FANTASY XIII Original Sound Selection: a soundtrack CD including a selection of tunes from the game, especially chosen for this Limited Collector’s Edition by composer Masashi Hamauzu. The CD is presented inside a slipcase featuring artwork from FINAL FANTASY XIII, with liner notes written by the composer himself.
- The World of FINAL FANTASY XIII: an exclusive hardback book featuring characters artwork, CG rendered images and environments from across the game production.
- Exclusive Art Prints: 3 highly collectable art prints showing artwork of the Eidolons, powerful summoned allies of the lead playable characters of FINAL FANTASY XIII.
- Unique ‘Brand of the l’Cie’ decal: Collectible decal featuring this most iconic symbol from the game storyline.
And if this is not enough, here is the game’s latest trailer, featuring some cool action as well as an amazing soundtrack.
Let us know what you think about all this here on the blog, and on FINAL FANTASY XIII’s official Facebook page!

No incentive to make me buy the CE over Vanilla.
English voices seemed pretty good.
Was that an Australian I heard?

Antonio Marfuggi, excuse but this is a shame.
Limited Collector’s Edition?, this isn’t for collectors. A selection of a few songs from the soundtrack…? with “liner notes from Hamauzu”? This is a huge shame, not a value for collectors at all in my personal opinion, it even doesn’t include any exclusive theme on that CD, it isn’t special. Nothing exclusive to pay for.
At least include the original soundtrack, I don’t care if it’s expensive, I would pay it. Special editions are special editions… money isn’t the problem, is the content you include the problem. This edition ask for a higher price, without added value.

Then you add 3 “highly collectable” art works (?). I’ve no words. I still remember how FINAL FANTASY ORIGINS had some of that kind of stuff even for free. That’s not something “highly collectable”, excuse me. I don’t with which kind of public you spect to do business, but I guess it’s a low age one, since I can’t see any metal special box or metal figure, just the classical stuff of stickers and little art cards.
No special figures at all, no special boxes just what seems to be a cardboard sleeve… no making of bonuses, no figures, even no numbered limited edition… I’m amazed how even games with a bit less of public like God Of War III (everything these days have less public than FF as you may know) have even better limited edition things (like God Of War Collection games and a special box).

Japan gets amazing items, and this european edition even doesn’t include anyithng exclusive or special. A real shame not only from Square Enix Japan but also from Square Enix Europe.
I don’t care about the price, what me and the other collectors want when talking about a “Limited Collector’s Edition” is exclusive material. Even Metal Gear Solid 4 came with a Snake figure and an exclusive BluRay with footage and more bonuses from the making of.
Seriously, this is a shame, and it’s not just my words, rest of the users at the FINAL FANTASY unofficial spanish community LaCapitalOlvidada, and other boards, are thinking the same too.

The worst limited collector’s edition I’ve ever seen. The content is ridiculous. Its value for collectors is zero.
Other limited editions include steel box, figures, complete OST, keychains, T-shirts, bonus DVD, novels, extra missions and characters, merchandising… And FFXIII? An incomplete OST (5-10 tunes?), an artbook, three (¡!) art prints and a decal. Ridiculous.

Pretty okay, collection I guess.
Just glad I could get a cover with the logo on it. The lightning one is not very good. Not at all.
You should have continued with the logo and white background as you did in the past Square Enix. =/

Very nice, I changed my preorder of FFXIII to the collector’s edition today. There is something that is really bothering me about FFXIII and it’s the fact that the game is releasing with just the english voice over with no Japanese voice option included.
I’m buying the Playstation3 version which i thought for sure would have had it included. Also i heard that heaps of content was taken out of FFXIII, enough to create a whole new game and that this content was running on the PS3 version just fine.
This could only mean 1 thing, MICROSOFT XBOX 360 DVD Discs having limited space.
I am a big fan of PS3 and 360 but to be honest i really wish MICROSOFT would stay away from SONY’s big names.

Let’s not jump to conclusions about the lack of Japanese language on the disc. For example, Assassin’s Creed 2 had a full selection of voice tracks on the PS3, but only English AND Italian for the Xbox 360 version.
No, what this is, is Square-Enix completely misjudging what their market wants, no conspiracy about having to chop it out completely to accommodate a DVD release.

Already pre-ordered
. Found it for £58 – well it’s a bit better than other places.
The content looks very good and will definately go down well when it is released I’m sure.

I dunno how true it is, but all over the net theres quotes being thrown around that they couldn’t include the JP Track on the Xbox and wanted the same experience on PS3 and Xbox causing PS3 to lose out.
Again internet quotes without sources are unreliable but considering lack of official word and real sources I’d sooner take the internet rumours over the silence =P

i will be getting this as soon as its available, however i wish they had kept leona lewis away from this, squeenix has an amazing in house music team and for them to use this lame singer for the main theme has left me as a fan a bit delusioned..
about the content that was cut out because of the xbox’s lack of disx space well only time will tell if this was a good decision but if our fav game has been sullied just to get it on the xbox then this will be the last ff i buy and im sure im not alone in this thought either..
still im hopefully they havent screwed us over for microsofts wallet
yours a disgruntled ff fan

1. I like the boxart for the slipbox, it’s classy, however people are right, a steelbook case would be much nicer, I love those things
2. It really doesn’t attract a £20 premium, dissidia’s CE had the same kind of content and it only boosted the price by £10 (from £20 to £30)
And the important one, and a genuine question
3. How limited is ‘limited’ because quite frankly I’m annoyed with shelling out so much money on release, just for the price to be slashed a month later

I completely agree with Aero-R , it’s been like this for years.
We never get anything special or limited here in Europe, it’s just rip offs…
Also, is this your way of boosting the sales, and making up for the horrible gameplay in this game?
If the RPG fanatics from Japan hates this…why should we like it?

It’s TOO expensive for what it offers.

Leona Lewis – seriously? Either Square have got the target demographic wrong, or I’m playing the wrong games.

It makes sense from a business standpoint: Lewis is managed by companies owned by Sony, cross-promotion of talent etc.
But from a gamers’ point of view, it’s terrible. I don’t want ANY talent show winners singing in my games. I prefer real music relevant to the setting it’s presented within.
Another bad move.

Oh my god, I have to get this. Will this pre-order edition be available in all regions? Sweden?
And I hope the sound selection has the vocal tracks that are in Japanese as well…

£60 for the CE certainly seems a bit pricey considering the contents. The vanilla version for £40 will suffice, should the game include Japanese audio as well. If not, will just wait a few months more to grab it for £15-20.
Here’s hoping for the series to return to its FFVI-FFIX days of glory, or even the FFX/FFX-2 era but I suppose there’s no going back. Evolution stinks sometimes

Awesome! Just awesome. I read this earlier on, when I woke up. Instantly pre-ordered my copy. This is one game that I’d definitely pay the extra for, being such a huge Final Fantasy fan. I really hope the game itself doesn’t disappoint! Here’s to praying they release an official guide book, too. Toilet material ftw.

Always been a FF fan, and this looks great, no wait, awesome! But there is one thing bothering me. How did the music go from this > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4o_NIZcfINk < to that music we hear in the trailer? Hope Nobuo Uematsu will start composing for Square Enix again soon, because his songs tottaly made all the fights awesome!

It really sucks. I don’t understand why people are telling “nice edition”. If you see another collector’s edition like japonese, this will make you cry

It’s 60 quid for the game and some bits of paper with ink on them and a worthless CD. And a book of nebulous value.

You must be kidding
amazing soundtrack in trailer?
It was amazing while they didn’t change it. Sayuri Sugawara’s song is awesome and ideal for FF but that english song…crap…just want to sell this like soundtrack of Final Fantasy.
It’s big mistake
What would be if in one of beautiful scenes in game industry (Final Fantasy X – first kiss of Yuna & Tidus) was not song of Rikki?
I bought Sayuri’s CD but never bye CD with this song
It’s a just promotion for this girl/woman
They must to give the right of choice to us
English and other european voices or Japanese
