…sorry, did I need to say anymore than that this week?
Ahem. We’ve got a real mixed bag of content this week, starting with a new batch of special offers, including our first ever promotion for some of our minis titles. These feature some of our best-selling minis, and help us to kick off minis month with a little bit of style. We’ll also be celebrating with another batch of reduced minis titles in a couple of weeks, so keep your eyes peeled for those too.
We have two demos for the highly anticipated titles Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Aliens vs. Predator; I feel we’re servicing our shooter fans especially well this week.
Throw in a couple of new minis titles, lots of game add-ons and a sprinkling of videos and you get this week’s helping of PSN goodness. Om nom nom, how do you like them ap…titles.
As usual, I’ll be lurking in the comments section so leave me a comment.
Have a good week.

New page? Well, then I might want to re-post what I just said:
“Still my question about when Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgement will be available remains. Mike, can you answer this question?”

@RemyX-1988
I also bought a PSN card just for Vandal Hearts, back in October but it didn’t get released 31.10. And now it’s out but for some reason not on the EU PSN.
Would be nice if we at least could get a date we could wait for.

@MobileTone: Heavy Rain is one of the year most importaint adult game. Gamereactor gave it a 9 of 10…cant wait!!

Hi Mike,
Just so you don’t get the wrong idea, I am happy FFVIII is on the Australian store. Let’s party!!!!
With all that aside however, are there any plans to put desirable titles on Special? I would really love to purchase Tekken 6 or Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny but there are two problems:
1) I am not an idiot
2) I won’t pay $60 for a game that I can find for up to $20 less on UMD
Specials are starting to either repeat (Ape Quest, Buzz:Brain Bender) or be for games not many people give two figs about (Disney PSone classics)
Now! When is FFIX showing up on the store?
Regards,
Dutch

AvP demo – downloaded at 1pm this afternoon and I haven’t been able to connect to a single game. I’ve been trying on and off for SEVEN HOURS!!!

@Dutch_Rootsman I agree with you, about the selection of “Specials”. No interesting game for weeks…

Posted on 4 February, 2010 at 9:16 pm by Gekidami
I think Minis are over priced as a whole tbh. The idea is that tey’re meant to be simple little games but some of them are coming at the same price as PSPne Classics.
And on a side-note; This AvP demo problem needs fixing! Hope we can have an update on the issue tomorrow.
265
Posted on 4 February, 2010 at 9:27 pm by WhatIsTheMatrix
@stripelord I would agree with that I also cannot connect to AvP either. I’ve tried both the PS3 and PC demos and cannot get nowhere.
Have you tried to add friends and play or just add yourself to a game?
266
Posted on 4 February, 2010 at 9:32 pm by RealDanMan
hey, nice update, just to let you know that a lot of people are experiencing connection problems with the avp demo – it takes ages to search for games. Might need to be looked into before people are put off xD

Too bad the ORIGINAL DISC-BASED VERSION of Final Fantasy VIII I own doesn’t work on the PS3. It keeps getting stuck on a black screen after the PS-logo. And no, it’s not my disc. All my friends experience the same problem!
Sony… please work on this.
I don’t want to pay double for the same game…

Just a quick one Mike, and sorry if it’s been asked before;
Is the Kingdom Hearts series going to be on its way to the store anytime soon? (Please know I’m not expecting a date!)
Thanks!

Just had an amazing couple of hours on Bad Company 2…
Anyone from the old threespeech crowd know if ‘fanpages’ is on here? Only because I found myself in a squad with him and recognised the name!
Cheers
ps. Anyone else struggling to get into a game on Alien vs Predator?

May as well give up on on PS1 classics if you don’t like JPRGs and you don’t like overpriced games trying to extort using popularity.
Months of nothing…and a JPRG at a price costing more (over double) than other PS1 classics.
Then Months of nothing again…and a JPRG at a price costing more (over double) than other PS1 classics.
Maybe a JPRG or two in between them, at an inflated price (though not quite double).
Mean while the US store gets these same games but also get all the Tomb Raiders, Resident Evils, Silent Hill and countless others.

This is quite awesome ^.^
Great to see FFVIII getting some well deserved attention. Oh, a question though, does Square Enix earn any of the money for the sales or..?

Hi Mike,
That Half Minute Hero demo is brilliant, can’t wait for the full release. Couple of mini’s questions for you
1) When is This is Football Management coming back on store? It was released a few weeks ago but then disappeared, I guess it had some bugs or something.
2) Will there be a UK release for the Sudoko/Kakuro one that was released in Germany? I love a bit of Kakuro!
Cheers

@261, yeah both those games are a joke price on the PSN. If you do get one, go with Tekken. I’ve always been Soul Calibur > Tekken but the PSP version of SC is just broken. The controls don’t work well and there’s no meat to it at all. Tekken is a fairly ‘lite’ game too, but at least it plays like the real thing.

About the AvP demo: Rebellion have taken note of the problems though whilst they’ve already fixed it on PC they seem tobe still working on a PS3 fix:
“Unprecedented demand for Aliens vs. Predator following the release of the cross-platform demo yesterday morning brought to light matchmaking issues on the PC platform resulting in players having to wait to join games, or even not find games at all.
We’re pleased to say later in the day the issue was corrected and a small patch to the PC executable next time you launch it from Steam will have you finding and playing games using Quick Match as it was intended.
While this issue did not affect the Xbox 360, we are, with SEGA’s assistance investigating reports of a similar nature on the PlayStation 3 and working flat out on a solution.”

Tried BC2, spent 2 days downloading, Install Error at 14%
It’s a slow clap for Sony and EA, and a very happy PS2 which is now keeping me happy for over 5 years, while my PS3 sits there wheezing sickly in the corner as I just figure out which shells to use to shoot the ****er: 12 Gauge or Buck?
Your thoughts? I’m thinking 12 Gauge. A good sized hole in it wouldn’t make a difference anyway.

So, where is Football Manager 2010 PSP for Norway? Been waiting for it for ages. Weird since all other countries seem to have got it
284
Posted on 5 February, 2010 at 5:50 pm by Shadowdragoon
And where is the comic store for Norway? Can’t you just give us the same one as UK? we are not picky and don’t need any stinking translations.
or at least some way for my dummy UK account to gift buyings to my account?

Hey Mike – I got Uno in the sale, very excited. But when I try to patch it says “an error occurred during the download operation” immediately. Pretty annoying since I need to patch to use the online side, any ideas?

Can anyone else here actually get a game on Aliens v predator???
Mine just stays on finding game…forever
Not had one game yet and i am very dissapointed, i have tried in the daytime, night time and silly o clock in the morning all with the same result.
As a big fan from the days of tail whipping on the pc i was excited to see the demo come onto PS3…only to be let down
Posted on 12 February, 2010 at 2:59 pm by Mike Kebby
The demo code has literally just been replaced on the store, so delete the version you have installed, download it again from your download list (or for sanity’s sake download again via the store) and you should be able to get a game now

Great news about the AVP demo, Mike.
Would it be too much to ask for a small news snippet to inform more people about this on the page ?
I’d hate to be the only one playing the demo online
