Hi everyone
Following my recent blog post, I’m really excited to share the design of the SCEE God of War III Ultimate Trilogy Edition box with you guys. I hope you like it, let me know your thoughts!
The Ultimate Trilogy Edition can be pre-ordered in selected retailers across Europe, Australia and New Zealand. It’s a limited run so make sure you pre-order it before it’s sold out! This very special edition comes in a high-end, sculpted replica of Pandora’s Box with an epic outer box which features an acetate window: you can actually see Pandora’s box before you even open it!
Once open, you will find the following items:
- God of War III (of course!)
- God of War Collection (gentle reminder, this is God of War and God of War II, remastered in HD, running at 60 fps, with Trophy support, all on one Blu-ray Disc)
- Extra game content downloadable via PlayStation Network:
- God of War Combat Arena containing an exclusive environment and seven challenges to complete
- Dominus character skin
- Apollo character skin
- Phantom of Chaos character skin
- Forgotten Warrior character skin
- Special audio bonus
- God of War Trilogy Soundtrack – God of War I, II, and III scores from the game (3 CDs in total)
- God of War: Blood and Metal EP – a heavy metal homage featuring original music inspired by God of War (downloadable via PSN)
- Additional content:
- Artbook
- Postcards
Quick reminder… some of you may recall my last post where I mentioned that a new trailer will be unveiled on February 11 on PlayStation Blog… well, it will actually be in the morning on February 12 instead. Make sure you tune in; you won’t be disappointed.
That’s about it for now… any comments or thoughts let me know!
Thach

Hey thanks for going the extra mile to get those info. Atleast it’s better than what sony & game are telling. oh wait thats right they’re not telling anything. What irks me the most is that they’ve actually announced the UT, then yank it off from being sold. Thats what really gets me. I mean, come on. GOW is among the biggest franchise that sony has, and they’re making a total mess of it. so theres no collectors edition or anything at all for europe? all they have to offer is a crummy demo of something we’re actually going to buy anyway?
reminds me of the time sony offered spider-man 3 umd for all those that bought the 1st psp. yeah thats right sony, I remember. I never got my umd, all I got was a crummy umd case. But I’m willing to forgive that since that was suppose to be a freebie. But this is just……I’ll just preorder the collectors edition of Alan Wake instead.

Hi, you mentioned that the ultimate edition was only available in GAME in the UK, then how is it when i go on the GAME website and search for it, it doesn’t come up and when i click on somebody’s link for the ultimate edition on GAME it just brings me to the homepage

@games4pro
It is only available from GAME in the UK but yes when you try to search for it the GOW3:UT edition does not show and I think it is purely down to the fact that this edition has been so popular that every copy they had has been allocated and therefore no longer available for sale which is why the links don’t work.
I preordered mine on the day it went up for preorder and when I log into my account it is still showing as ordered but when I click on the link in account it is taking me to homepage also.
I preordered just in case this happened and it gave me plenty of time to decide if I wanted it. I think because of whats happened and looking like hard to get I will keep on order as these games are among my favourite games ever.
Maybe some more will become available but only way to know is to check the site everyday and hope if you really want this version.

I am in the same boat as you its showing up but I cant view it. I really hope they have our copies at least and to be honest I think they should make more if they’ve sold out. Whats peed me off a little is that Game are offering a demo to people who have preordered the standalone game; but not to us whom have preordered the £110 UE??? I thought about preordering a standalone copy then cancelling that and leaving on the UE; but knowing Game they’d debit it from my account and I’d end up with two copies which frankly I couldnt afford!

@PooleCraig
Although it says I’m in USA I am acually in the UK.
I got 3 PS3’3 in house and all imported from USA, mainly for the reason that the games are region free but most Blu-ray movies are region locked and I import mine.
I bought the GOW Collection from USA which included a code for the demo which I got off PSN site and it is amazing.
It does suck that for people like us who pre-ordered the GOW3:UT edition did not receive code for the demo as the price we will be paying for the game is alot more. But I think even if I had not played the demo I would still be happy just to receive the UT edition as at the moment things are looking gloomy.
I’m just going to keep my fingers crosses as in our accounts it still says on pre-order… it does not say Cancelled!!!

Greetings!
I think I speak for many if I say here that I am pretty much disappointed. Not by the awesome edition that is this God of War Ultimate Edition or its price, as I’d say this is well worth it’s money… no, but rather the simple fact that, apparently, this edition was sold out in a matter of days… and we are talking more than a month before its actual release…
Never before have I witnessed a games pre-order closing this shortly already after its start.
In my case, I was just a bit “occupied” exactly around the time when this edition sold out as my son was born on 3rd of February!
Oh well, it seems like this simply was not meant to be (not for me anyway). At least I have something here now that will make up for it tenfold.
I am a bit sad though I didn’t manage to get to pre-order this edition in time, I’m a big big video game fan and the God of War series simply is a big star in gaming history and I was looking forward to playing the first 2 parts in HD quality too…
I simply wished Sony would re-prodruce some more of these editions. Would that not be possible? I mean it’ll still take some time until the game will actually be released, no? ^^

You think they should make more if they’ve sold out?
Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of a Limited Collectors Edition?

Hey
I contacted GAME about the whole situation via phone and e-mail
On the phone i was told that if you have pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition online, and received confirmation, you will receive the Ultimate Edition.
If you haven’t ordered it, then GAME is no use unfortunately
Via e-mail i received
Trying to place preorders
Unfortunately we have now reached our preorder limit for this title and it has been removed from our site.

Order missing from account
Dont worry! This has only been removed as we have reached our limit for online preorders. If you received an order confirmation email with an order number your order is safe.
Delivery Date
We aim to deliver all preorders for the release date. To do this we do dispatch orders a few days before. Unfortunately we can not guarantee delivery for the release date as your order may be delayed whilst it is in the care of our delivery partner, Royal Mail. If you have not received your order please allow 10 working days, 28 days for international customers. Once the time limit has passed please contact us again and we will look into refunding or replacing this for you.
International Orders
I can confirm that we will be shipping the God of War Trilogy internationally.
Faulty Returns
If you find that your replica game is damaged when you receive it you can return this to us for a replacement. This is subject to our normal returns procedure which can be found on our website here.
The Team at GAME.
PS, if you were unsuccessful in obtaining a copy, i hear amazon.de DOES infact have some copies left
Happy hunting!

@Ben_Eaglesfield
Many thanks for the info.. I can rest easy now knowing that I will receive the GOD3:UT edition as I received confirmation back in January when I placed order.
I had a feeling that this would fly off the shelves, so glad I didn’t hang about to pre-order.

Nice to know my pre-order is safe, but I still want an official answer why the documentary is missing & if we are getting it separately on PSN at some point.

Hey, thanks for the info, I don’t really want a T-Shirt,it would be too small as the only sizes they ever have are S or M, I really wanted this game and now know one in Ireland is stocking it,which I think is really unfair, there are a lot of different boxes showing up online now for a collectors edition,Game,Gamestop and HMV don’t seem to know if they are getting any such version in,I wont be buying this Game on launch day as it has turned into a freak show where the Irish Game shops are concerned,I would love to know who is at fault.

@ KaiserSoza13
Which shop in ireland is stocking it? When I go to GAME they tell me to go online. Asking the rest of the shops is pointless as they don’t have a clue. But I agree with you about not getting gow3 on launch day. This mess has left me bitter, I’ll still buy it but I won’t be as excited about it.

Is there any chance of Sony producing more copies of this for the people who missed out? There seems to be a high demand for this edition and I think you guys would make a killing
.

Posted on 27 February, 2010 at 12:41 pm by TheUndertaker
@captainchunk
You may be lucky that Sony may produce more copies but I really don’t think they will as it was stated that this would be a very limited release and by producing more copies that kind of defeats the object of limited release. I don’t doubt that you are right that Sony would make a killing if more copies were made due to how quickly the UT editions were pre-ordered but with this being a very limited release I don’t think they will make any more and in time I think they will just release the GOW collection over here on its own.

Why hasn’t anybody from sony bothered to set the record strait here?
I’ve just seen the item up for sale on ebay for as much as €390. Shame on Sony for promoting this kind of activity. They create a huge buzz for an item and then short change their loyal customers, there really is no excuse.

I really hope I get my copy of this, I went into my local Gamestation in Glasgow when the pre-orders went up online and asked about it as I didn’t particularly want to order online from GAME or Gamestation and the guy didn’t seem to know if they were getting this edition in or not but let me pre-order it anyway (I did notice it said on a pre-order poster that a “Limited Edition” was available but who knows what that meant). I will be extremely ‘unhappy’ if I don’t get a copy of it now as I would have pre-ordered a copy online, I’ll just keep my fingers crossed the store gets a copy in for me.
It would be nice if anyone from Sony or GAME/Gamestation would give us definite information on this and answer some of the questions we have.

I have asked game why this was not a 1 per customer purchase as it was so limited. I have seen one guy on ebay with 4 copys for sale. Surely that cant be fair. And since they are the sole distributor of this product there is nothing stopping them from introducing this limitation so more customers can own a copy themselves. CMON GAME 1 PER CUSTOMER ITS THE ONLY FAIR WAY..

Well seeing as Sony are boffing about, heres the situation.
It would seem that HMV are announcing GOW3 (Atleast the standard edition) for the 18th of March, just 16 days off, not many sleeps at all! Finding any news on the Ultimate Edition is like trying to bleed a stone using cotton wool, although my previous post indicates that those with an e-mail confirming a successful pre-order, coupled with a standing order in their GAME orders menu, will indeed be receiving it. (contact GAME if you are in doubt) At present this is scheduled for the 19th of march, although may well be brought forward to match the 18th that HMV is citing, although this in itself is unconfirmed.
So, if you are unclear, contact GAME for confirmation, if you have NOT yet pre-ordered from GAME, don’t attempt to do so, as you will be met with disappointment. eBay is also a no go, as £400 for this item is an immense waste. However, as i have said numerous times, AMAZON.DE is your friend.

hope this helps, and Sony, get it together please =]

As for the people questioning the idea of having Sony produce some more of these versions of the game(s) I would like to ask:
Do you really believe this edition might be intentionally limited to so very few copies?
To be honest I have my doubts. Usually “limited editions” are simply products that just “an estimated number of hardcore fans” might want to buy instead of the usual edition. Thus, the company can make some extra money and some fans happy. But, like I said, the game companies will have to “estimate” the right amount.
Do you really believe a company would ever willingly miss a chance to actually earn more money? ^^
My guess is, that in this case either the responsible people heavily misjudged the possible common interest in this edition. OR the producers of one or several items added to this ultimate edition box could simply just produce a limited amount in time. Namely, this Pandoras Box maybe?
In either case, I’m still disappointed. I would rather have waited another month or so if it meant everyone who was interested had been able to get a copy of this edition.
As for me, right now I am tempted to not buy the whole game at all…

Oh, and @Ben_Eaglesfield:
Thanks for the hint with Amazon.de. However, I am German myself, yet I wanted to get the UK edition simply for the reason that I like to play my games in English. On Amazon.de, however, the description says: “Sprache: Deutsch”, translating to “Language: German”.
I’m not sure if this version will still have the option to also switch to English dialogs, but I just wanted to warn you. ^^
Also, for me, even more than 200 Euros seem too much at this point, seeing how merchants simply are trying to make extra money exploiting the situation.
Thx for trying to help though.

Hi, Another quick question!
Um, i’m trying to find the God of War III: Ultimate Trilogy Edition on Game but it’s just not there!
Do you know if it’s already been sold out!!??
Many thanks

@Luhrion
haha thanks mate, my german isn’t upto scratch, as is my currency conversion! =]
i’ll take more care when reading the descriptions next time ^^
i know what you mean though, i for instance often won’t buy games if there isn’t a subtitle feature, as i have very mild tinnitus, and exceptionally poor hearing half of the time, and like to listen to music/watch films whilst playing games, and can’t do this if i’m pausing them every two minutes to listen to dialog =P
Kudos on your english by the way! =]
@ B-boyTide18
Yes i believe they have sold out unfortunately! =/
The item page has been removed, with all previous links to it now redirecting to the GAME homepage/storefront. Contact GAME and ask if you can be contacted first, should somebody decide to cancel their pre-order, as many are doing this due to the removal of the documentary!

Does anyone know where can I buy the Ultimate Trilogy Edition Box in Portugal?

I had the box on pre-order two places and just received the bad news that it’s impossible to get! What’s going on? Is it all ready sold out? I don’t hope so because I was willing to pay the 182.40 pounds (The price in Denmark)
I am very disappointed
