Hi everyone from a rather dreary part of London, where at the time of writing the skies are gray, overcast and rain is thumping down. Which is rather a pity really because what I’ve materialised to talk to you about is in fact blue skies. SEGA blue skies to be precise.
I’m pleased to confirm that the PSN demo of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is now available for you to download. The SUMO Digital team have been working hard to provide a truly luscious visual experience and you’ll be able to get a taste of what All-Star Racing action is all about.
The PlayStation 3 has its own track not available on any other platform’s demo which is based off of Blizzard Castle from Billy Hatcher & The Giant Egg. The track called Rampart Road has you quite literally racing all over the castle itself as you avoid rolling eggs, heavy snow drifts and devious crows – they may look like cats but they are indeed crows!
You’ll have two characters to play in the demo, Sonic The Hedgehog (obviously) and Dr. Eggman, their vehicles have their own specific traits – try both of them and see.
As an FYI, you can alter the difficulty settings, the demo should be set to “Advanced” from the get go but you can reduce this to Basic if you find the action a little too intense.
Master drifting around corners and pull off aerial tricks to get a speed boost. Use the range of weapons available to batter, confuse and generally slow your rivals and take that chequered flag. There’s even a sneaky shortcut at one point, see if you can spot it and make it work to your advantage!
Ladies and Gentlemen – start your engines!

@Kevin Eva
will the PS3 version have a special guest character(Banjo Kazooie) like the xbox360 version ????????
Posted on 19 February, 2010 at 5:41 pm by Kevin Eva
There isn’t one for PS3 no I’m afraid, Banjo wouldn’t be on PS3 as MS owns Rare – the PS3 was the format the game was developed primarily on though according to Executive Producer Steve Lycett. It does also have Sixaxis implimented.

Want to get this, unless Modnation Racers is out around the same time – is there an official release date yet because Play.com have it as 26th February

Mario Kart style, but I’m fond of SEGA characters, and I definitely can’t pass on special JSRF stages!
Kevin, will there be DLC for this game?
Posted on 19 February, 2010 at 6:05 pm by Kevin Eva
The JSRF stages are awesome, not as awesome as Beat’s car though – thats a REAL tricked out roadster!
Pre-orders are available from several places online in the UK (GAME and Gameplay.co.uk I believe) for some Pre-order DLC which is of Shenmue’s Ryo Hazuki in forklift mode – i.e you play always as Ryo in the forklift.
As for other DLC, mmmmmmm I’d've thought there’d be something up our sleeves.

No wonder i couldn’t get first place with the difficulty set to advanced, i will have to turn it down but the demo is loads of fun.

I’ll be getting this on release day and my mate is coming round for some split-screen fun!
Can’t wait to play as Ryo, Jacky and Akira and Beat.
Though I can’t get to download the beautiful demo until late Tuesday. *Cries*
Either way, great work Sumo Digital, can’t wait to get it.

Thanks for the demo, i played it and it wasn’t bad at all. I think it will appeal to a different audience than MNR as it is probably more instantly accessible for younger gamers especially.

Kevin, I’m a huge fan of old-school Sonic R, and was wondering if you could pass on my request for a PSN release of Sonic R.
Thanks
Posted on 22 February, 2010 at 11:56 am by Kevin Eva
I also really like Sonic R, it was one of those I missed but managed to play it as part of the Gems collection. You’ll be pleased to know as I confirmed elsewhere, there are two Sonic R tracks purcahsable in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing.
Who knows, maybe we’ll see a Sonic R port to PSN in the future, I don’t think we’ve really done anything from the Saturn era yet…

Hi
When are you going to release the last Valkyria Chronicles DLC?

I’ll be buying this I really thought the demo was excellent. I do hope the online is going to be very active as I actually enjoyed Sonic and Sega All-star Racing more then Modnation Racers. Great work Sumo Digital and Sega.
Kazuma from Yakuza who is a Sega character that’s only on Playstation consoles he should have been exclusive to the PS3 version.

Tried the demo, lot’s of fun there!
Just a quick question; it will have a mobile version (iPhone I’m guessing) but it won’t have a PSP version? Not that it matters much, but I find it hard to understand why a mobile is better for games than a purpose built portable system.
