I’m back, hope you didn’t miss me too much (I know that you were left in the more than capable hands of Ross last week anyway, so thanks for playing nice; he doesn’t seem too emotionally scarred by the experience)
This week I’m pleased to say we have Vandal Hearts Flames of Judgement available, and not only is this a great game for existing fans of the series, those of you not familiar with this great RPG should get great enjoyment from it too, so give it a whirl.
We also have the demo for Just Cause 2 available, and once you throw yourself off that first cliff you’ll have thirty minutes to exact as much mayhem as you can in the luscious tropical setting of Panau. Prepare yourself for some truly action-packed sandbox fun.
Throw into the mix a brand new batch of Special Offers, new content for Resident Evil 5, Operation Flashpoint, Dante’s Inferno, LittleBigPlanet (PSP), Echoshift and more, and that’s another week in the life of PlayStation Store.
I’ll be around as usual, so hit me up in the comments. Next week I’ll be out of the office mixing it up with high society (okay, that’s a lie, I’ll be working off site), but Ross will be back to look after you all…just don’t start liking him more than me, I get possessive of you lot.
Have a great week!

Hi Mike
A warm welcome back to you =]
Could I ask if there are plans to have more trailers/gameplay movies of game content? I see games every now and then on the PSN store that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere, and I check a lot of gaming sites. Often the name or logo/image aren’t enough to encourage me to look them up on YouTube or something. I think a lot more content would be sold if we could preview the content right in the Playstation Store.
Tbh I have no idea why this isn’t standard or even mandatory practise since the option is there. But I dunno maybe you have some figures that show previewing content dramatically lowers sales on games no one has heard of =P
Would very much appreciate a reply =]

We will be increasing the amount of previews you will see on playable content yes…most existing content will remain without previews (though we will try and get as many updated with previews as possible) but moving forwards there will be a push to embrace this functionality further.

Hi Mike. Welcome back. Just like too say how annoyed I am by how many peep we’re upset this week when the problem with the so called FAT PS3′s couldn’t be used for one whole day. I mean that is torture. We had peep moan and threatening to go to XBOX because of this and they have more problems every week than anyone I know. Then we had the peep sayin if this aint sorted I want a new PS3 all because of it going down for 24 hours. Their are peep without family, friends and even whole houses in Chile due to the Earthquake and these peep we’re moanin being without PS3. Dont get me wrong I love it too bits and I have a Fat PS3 but for a company that haven’t let us down for the last 15-20 years 1 major problem is Good going. Keep up the good work guys.
Just also wondering if theres any news on resident evil or abes oddworld coming onto network so I can play these on PSP.
Thanks

Mike, can you please answer a question for me I would be so happy.
I keep reading that Lunar: Silver Star Harmony is releasing for the PSP Go today 3/4/10… I also read that you said the store was up and running, your reply was at 3:29 PM exactly. My playstation store on my PSP Go, computer, and Media Go is still the exact same, I see no updates at all.
I’m getting worried because I bought the lunar book and playstation cards to download this game. Did Sony choose not to update the store for US for some reason? It’s 6:30 my time here and still no update to a single item on the store.
Please advise to me as I feel stupid right now. Thanks Mike.

Hey Danj210 – I only deal with the SCEE Store, not the US one, so I couldn’t advise you I’m afraid. Head over the the US blog for more info

Mike, seeing a RE 5 DLC release reminds me, I’d really appreciate if you are able to find out why the Resident Evil 5 demo is still not on the NZ PS store a year after it came out s’posedly everywhere else?!? Thanks mate.
Posted on 5 March, 2010 at 9:09 am by Mike Kebby
It was removed from all stores at Capcom’s request.

So have PSP games been moved to a different day or something? I don’t see any New releases this week =/

And to make matters worse, the US store gets the Lunar remake for PSP! C’mon SCEE get your act together! Start encouraging publishers to put their PSP content on the store at reasonable prices and they sill see dividends!

US PSN store has huge amount of PSP titles – 4 games and 5 minis, and EU store has…. NOTHING.
How it is possible?

Re:230
I don’t think people are so wrapped up in their own thing they think the PSN revolves around their needs and requirements for updates each week;
However I think people have a valid point when multi-platform content comes out on the x-box first, on a consistent basis. Yes the PSN has improved in leaps and bounds over the past 3 years, and yes I am very grateful, but to some extent even with the improvements it still falls behind the X-box, in terms of content and accessibility.
I love my Ps3 wouldn’t ever get an Xbox (Boo RROD) but seriously it’s everything from DLC, to the ‘classic’ games, to the games being released in stores, (Maybe the publishers issue, but Bad Company 2 is being released here a week later then X-Box/PC) it all just seems to show that Sony is not at the same level as Microsoft, Which is disappointing.

Any new details on the return of Vagrant Story to the New Zealand Store?????????
Posted on 5 March, 2010 at 9:13 am by Mike Kebby
It wasn’t rated for release in New Zealand, so until the publisher gets a rating from OFLC then it won’t be back on your store I’m afraid.

Oh, and I know that the store is not able to supply preview images or videos on all games, but why not add a link button below or above the purchase one that would take the user to the website of the game provided by the publisher or developer. Less work for you guys = win.
Oh, and just one more thing, can you please change the majority of the “Genre” icons on the store. Most are ugly and uninspired.
Cheers.

Hello Mike,
Can you help me? I can’t watch the trailers anymore on my ps3 and can’t write any comments to the blog on my ps3. How is this possible?
I can only watch the trailers and write comments if i login with my account on my laptop.
Greetings.

These comments and replies make me laugh when I imagine myself in Mike’s position.
He starts off with an initially cheery disposition thinking “We’ve got a whole mess of stuff on the store this week, there’s no way people will be moaning”, only to then get hit by floods of comments from insatiable consumers that go something like “where’s X/Y/Z game?!?! PSN is RUBBISH! I’m selling my PS3! ZOMG!”. So then he tries to stay calm and professional, but then about a million more similar comments arrive regardless, then it’s like you can see Mike actually trying to restrain himself from outright engaging in flame wars. In his position I think I’d've slipped already, so respect to Mike for putting up with it.
Also, cheers for the RE5 DLC!

Still no Dissidia, which sucks. I thought we could expect it at the end of February?
Also, Amazon are (were) selling Half Minute Hero for £12.99, yet the digital copy on the store is almost double that. Why is that?

I really think that PSP Go should get more of the high rated games that came out on PSP, i love my PSP Go but i feel that i am always waiting for a game i want to play to come out on PSN. I get that old titles may not be easy to put on PSN but i thought that all new titles were meant to go on since PSP Go came out and yet they’re not. I just feel like i was robbed in purchasing the PSP Go

Battlefield bad company 2s playstion store is not working since the launch of the game. when will it be availible ? and EA would want to get thier act together becuz they did maintance on 360 and PC version of BFBC2 but not on PS3. Many PS3 gamers and I can only play 5mins of BFBC2 online then it says: “Connection to the server was lost, please try again”
Have you been able to get a full game of BFBC2 Mike ?
