For of a lot of you today is the end of a very long wait. Almost four years since the game’s announcement at E3 2006, FINAL FANTASY XIII is now on store shelves, available for purchase. I’m taking some time out from actually playing it to let you know that the PS3 version contains an extra special addition for fans of the series.
I know that the first temptation when opening the box for your game will be to grab the disc and stick it in your PS3 without hesitation. If you take a couple of seconds to explore the manual compartment, you’ll find a SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS card. In case you weren’t aware, SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS has gone beta in Europe and looks to be expanding in form and function over the coming months. This code will give you a free, special in-game item for SQUARE ENIX’s next title in the series, FINAL FANTASY XIV, which launches later this year.
Not only that, but inputting the code into the SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS website will allow you to enter for a potential opportunity to be one of the very first to play FINAL FANTASY XIV in the PS3 closed beta. In case you don’t recall, at E3 last year we announced that the PS3 will be the only console you’ll be able to play FINAL FANTASY XIV — the series’ next MMO title — on when it launches this year. What more reason do you need to check out the new SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS EU site, and get signed up?
I thought I’d let you guys know, in case you overlooked this awesome opportunity. Keep an eye on the PlayStation.Blog in the coming months for more FINAL FANTASY XIV info and if any of you are going to the London FFXIII launch event at HMV Oxford Street, I may see you there!

Btw, you made a typo on the heading, Shouldn’t it be Final Fantasy XII Out Now, Includes Exclusive Surprise FFXIV Code.

There’s a mistake in the title:
FINAL FANTASY XIV <— Supposed to be XIII
And Yay
I've been waiting a while for this

@JordanBlack, I’d wager it should be XIII, but your guess on XII is just as close as the title suggests.

I don’t know how quickly i’ll wana jump into 14… not a big MMO fan, but we’ll see… once i see some screenshots and justify the level of commitment i’ll need to put in it may go on the order list…
Having a bonus incentive is cool though, getting on the Beta for free is a big plus for sussing out whether i’ll go for it
Good shout Jem, I haven’t unwrapped the game yet, just the collectors box.. i’ll be sure to add it later

There are some FFXIV screenshots in this post. Everything but the big picture of Lightning is from XIV.

My copy didn’t arrive I have to wait until tomorrow. Damn you GAME.
I might get FF XIV if the subscription will be cheap.

MMO subscriptions on average are normally £10 per month. FFXI was one of the best MMO’s ive ever played. Will probably pick it up on PC though as there so much easier to play on their.
Posted on 9 March, 2010 at 1:53 pm by Jem Alexander
Agreed, FFXI was a great game. I’m looking forward to XIV.

Not everyone who inputs the code will get access to the beta, but you’ll be notified at some point if you’re one of the lucky ones.

I must be terribly stupid because I’ve registered my FFXIII game, I received my promotional code but I don’t know what to do with it.
The Final Fantasy XIV beta subscription page doesn’t seem to recognize the code, neither my Square Enix ID or password (whereas I’m perfectly connected through Square Enix Members).

Please could you fix it for me to get a FFXIV Beta invite. It would make me very happy indeed.

Yup, the site beta registration site complains when entering the code, it says: ” The promotional code is incorrect. Please verify your code and then enter it again. ”
Please, tell them to fix it!

Hi, Im currently umming an aring over getting FF 13 (id be a first time FF player) So i was wondering, this possible beta access, will it only get me into the PS3 beta, or can I go in for the Pc one. Either way its cool, but I play MMOs on my Pc so just wondering.

Dammit! I really want to play this, but FFX put me off the entire series (I got to 95% in, then faced several insta-kill creatures and thought, no… Just No).
I would have been happy if FFXIII was completely linear, since I loved FFX until it turned “oh here’s some side quests to level up, you’ll need it.”
Damn trailer looked so good too

So I can expect a similar code to be in the collector’s edition?
And, wouldnt this be the PERFECT time for Square-Enix to announce Dissidia Final Fantasy for Playstation Store?
*fingers crossed*

I’m having some problems. I’ve registered on the site and recieved my code. I then click the link in the email which takes me to a page where I can click “Apply Now” when I click the link it sends me to a page where it asks for my Square Enix ID and Password and a one time password.
I assume it’s the details I have just entered to create my account to register FFXIII but it won’t sign me in to apply am I doing something wrong?

What is this FFXIII “in-game item” you’re talking about?

Btw, if you’re having problems entering the code, make sure NOT to copy and paste it. The system will accept only 20 characters. So either copy-paste in notepad, and filter out the spaces…
OR… Write it down, then type it in.
Additionally, the account for beta is a separate account, so sign up for one on beta site, and enter the code under PS3 option.
Hope this helps

The email I received implied that the code was for either the beta or the secret item. Not both. Am I mistaken or do I have to pick one or the other?

I’m having a few problems registering my ff13. I’ve followed the link on the members card to the eu members site and signed up but can’t see anywhere to enter the reg code! I’m having to do it on my BB at work so that might be the problem but is this happening to anyone else?

I’m trying to register and when I get the confirmation email with the link to continue it, I click it but it returns me to the members site like nothing happened, i.e. it just prompts me to restart the registration process?

Thanks for the tip, Balmore (#30)! Copy-pasting straight from e-mail certainly doesn’t work, I noticed it too.
I just wrote the code down and typed it down without spaces, now it got accepted just fine.
I probably won’t be able to subscribe to XIV when it officially comes out (money issues), but I’d love to get my hands on the beta! Those pictures look stunning

Why should I bother paying 80€ (£72/$108) for a game that I’m sure I won’t enjoy due to be too much linear and suffered cuts in graphics and gameplay dues to a X-box release?
Make my money worth it or I’ll just give up

Damm it does not work.

in my email i clicked the link.
but you need to log in. but when i do that it says incorrect password or id.

That hmv event on oxford street was a major disappointment. Me and about 150 other people waited in the middle of the store thinking its where we are supposed to cue. Before hearing, after an hour of waiting, that the queue is round the back of the store, off of oxford street.

Still no answer from the people on this forum as to why the majority of us cannot input the code into the beta site as we cant login as the link in the Beta code email says wrong SE ID or password? But if we login to SE MEMBERS its ok? So where the hell do we pop the code to sign up for the beta? PLEASE ANSWER US! ignore us and I get annoyed!

so you play for 9 hours and the game is awesome.
some other person with journalism experience and played many games through out life, has probably more knowledge in the gaming industry than you…doesn’t know anything?
Well yeah, sure, next time we’ll have you writing the PS blog for us….
