‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (11th March 2010)

Howdy everyone and welcome to your 10th ‘Heads-Up’ of the 2010. How the weeks fly by! Once again I’m standing in for Mike while he’s away working hard so it falls to me to deliver the gaming goodness.

For your PS3 this week, we’ve got Capcom’s sublime Mega Man 10 in all his 8-bit glory – retro gaming at its finest (and most challenging).

With all the Resident Evil 5 DLC recently, maybe you’ve been thinking about picking up a copy for yourself, so we’ve dug out the Resident Evil 5 demo from the archive for a limited time for you to have another go and help make up your minds. For those of you who own the game and have been holding out on grabbing the new levels, hold out no more as we’ve got the Untold Stories bundle, collecting both of the new missions and both costume packs in one convenient package.

The Dragon Age expansion, Return to Ostagar makes its way to the PSN Store just in time to whet your appetite for ‘Awakening’ which will be with you next week. Moving on, it’s time to get back in your bathysphere for the first expansion for Bioshock 2 - the Sinclair Solutions pack is now available to extend your Rapture multiplayer experience.

After slender pickings last week, you’re in Handheld Heaven today with two new minis, five PSOne Classics (all of which will sit just as well on your PS3 of course) and a selection of PSP titles old and new.

Two fantastic PS3 franchises make the jump to PSP this week – the fast paced, team-slaughtering, royalty-stuffing, confectionary-munching Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake and the slightly more sedate, but no less brilliant tactical card battling game, Eye of Judgement Legends.

We’ve got a brand new version of SEGA’s arcade classic, Afterburner and the legendary puzzle adventure MYST heading up the rest of this week’s offering, which also includes tower assaults, car combat, square pants and a flying platypus. And if you haven’t picked up Echoshift yet, to help put things in perspective we’re throwing two brand new levels packs your way, absolutely free.

That’s all for this week guys, I’ll be around for comments and Mike will be back with you on the 18th March.

Oh, almost forgot. We’ve got a fighting game featuring some characters from some of the biggest selling RPGs of all time. Maybe you’ve heard of it? It’s called DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY.

Second? Maybe not? :D

Awesome update once again!

How’s it going Ross?

    Ross McGrath 11 March, 2010 @ 2:21 pm

Oh you know… same old, same old. Storming Olympus, hunting Origami Killers and whatnot.

What time does the store update? Awesome update this week (about time RtO got released :p & Awakening confirmed for next week!)

Many Thanks

5 ps1 games and not a single game for the core base cmon m8 thats bad lol . mike will yakuza 3 dlc vouchers be redeemable after store update as its says invalid rite now

    Ross McGrath 11 March, 2010 @ 2:24 pm

I don’t get to choose the games I’m afraid, I am but a delivery boy. I’ve asked the guys downstairs to check on the DLC for Yakuza 3, I’ll update you when I know. (Got my copy on my desk so I’m also hoping there aren’t any issues).

ShogunDarius 11 March, 2010 @ 2:05 pm   6

Who are you? I don’t trust you >.> bring back Mike :P

How about being a good kind soul and let me have a freebie after teasing me on twitter :P

Devilater 11 March, 2010 @ 2:05 pm   7

About damn time, all i’m getting is Dragon Age DLC but won’t be playing it right away, i’m playing FF XIII.

Guillemots 11 March, 2010 @ 2:06 pm   8

MEGA-MAN 10 for me, thanks!
(Hello Ross ;-) )

Ragnarok-NZ 11 March, 2010 @ 2:06 pm   9

Ha! I called it last week..I knew Square Enix was holding Dissidia for Final Fantasy XIII’s launch :D

That said, My god, this is an epic PSN update!
5 psone classics, Dissidia, Eye of Judgement, MEGAMAN 10!

Thank you SCEE, you’ve made my day…and stolen my munnies yet again.

also why silence from you about mag dynamic themes m8 also star trek 1s

    Ross McGrath 11 March, 2010 @ 2:27 pm

Yeah, the MAG themes are definitely coming – I actually talked about this a couple of weeks ago. I’m afraid I don’t know about the Star Trek ones, sorry!

Will we get the ‘GDC 2010′ Video in HD on the Euro PSN Store? ;)

Nothing for me this week, but I’ve got Final Fantasy XIII delivered, so there is no time left for other games the coming week(s).

Dragon1980 11 March, 2010 @ 2:08 pm   13

agh still no Dark Void DLC any news about this Ross.
Capcom said it would be out by the 2nd week of Feb.

    Ross McGrath 11 March, 2010 @ 2:29 pm

I can tell you we have it on the schedules and you won’t have to wait long, will that do ya?

Lucreto 11 March, 2010 @ 2:08 pm   14

Good week this week Mike.

I am still waiting for FF XIII to arrive in the post. Release day delivery my butt.

I will have to get the Bioshock 2 DLC to spend the time until the game finally comes.

Lesther 11 March, 2010 @ 2:08 pm   15

Holy crap!? Did we hit a store-update-jackpot this week or what?xD Seriously…This is a damn fine update.:D Mike, you and the team truely deserve praise this week.^^ Keep it up.(Y)

Alcest-Wizard 11 March, 2010 @ 2:09 pm   16

now i just have to wait until Half-Minute Hero is available in spain :) any news? ;)

thanks again for the update ;)

imajinetion 11 March, 2010 @ 2:09 pm   17

Argh, Mega Man 10. I’m still deep into FFXIII and God of War 3 is next week. STOP GIVING US GAMES! :D

This week sees the boy McGrath back in charge of the store again after an impressive début last month.

When asked about McGrath, manager Mike Kebby said “Young Ross did well on his début, although we did try and shield him from some of the harsher forum members. We’ll try and expose him to the forum a bit more, so that he finds his feet, and will eventually know how to handle even the really odd forum members.”

Kebby continued, “If the lad keeps his head down and works hard I can see him becoming one of the big players in digital store management”

;)

Ragnarok-NZ 11 March, 2010 @ 2:09 pm   19

Ooooh as much I love this update, I have to ask, any word on Silent Hill Shattered Memories for PSN?

Thanks again for covering Mike’s behind while he’s gone Ross :)

Oh my god Dissidia and at a good price!!!

Carnivius_Prime 11 March, 2010 @ 2:10 pm   21

Think I’ll pass this week. Mega Man 10 caught my eye but I remembered I didn’t find Mega Man 9 that fun (just too frustrating and I’ve completed Mega Man 2 on NES many times). If it was half that price perhaps I would get it. But all my game money’s going to God of War III this month.

Finally Dissidia!! I love you Ross!!

smokeypsd 11 March, 2010 @ 2:10 pm   23

Have a coke?

Lantianer21 11 March, 2010 @ 2:10 pm   24

Hey Mike,

when will we get Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce DLC’s?
Thx

    Ross McGrath 11 March, 2010 @ 2:36 pm

I would have told you, but you called me Mike. :)
Seriously though, not long for the Additional Quests – keep an eye out.

Great update Mike, any word on if Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions will be released?

Oldest_Ancient 11 March, 2010 @ 2:11 pm   26

Cheers Ross, not a bad update but I think it’s just a couple of Rock Band tracks for me today.

I know it’s a long shot but have you any idea if there’s going to be a Skate 3 demo? It’s getting pretty close to release and I’ve not seen much so far.

adie-healey 11 March, 2010 @ 2:11 pm   27

finaly the DA:O DLC, only taken sony 2 months to get it on the store………… well done?

INS1GHTFUL 11 March, 2010 @ 2:11 pm   28

woo-hoo! dissidia and fat princess! My pap memory card will be full!
Good job mike

djax-djax 11 March, 2010 @ 2:12 pm   29

Average update for PSP, no Williams Pinball and Pinball Heroes… There are several PSP games in today update, but why are all so expensive?

KylieDog 11 March, 2010 @ 2:12 pm   30

All the PS1 classics and not a single good game.

Lucreto 11 March, 2010 @ 2:12 pm   31

Sorry Ross I didn’t look at the name.

spikemad2005 11 March, 2010 @ 2:12 pm   32

Any idea of when the store goes live?

Lucreto 11 March, 2010 @ 2:13 pm   33

Do you have information on when Grandia will be on the store?

Devilater 11 March, 2010 @ 2:14 pm   34

@adie-healey

Not Sonys fauly, they don’t make the game or publish it, it’s EA and Bioware you should be blaming.

ljforlozz 11 March, 2010 @ 2:15 pm   35

ps1 classics ain’t classics

Shadowdragoon 11 March, 2010 @ 2:15 pm   36

Any news on a gifting option (crosscountry capable) is coming?
Also, any news on Namco Museum? oh, and you are soo much better than that regular guy, cant we have you more often?

Hmmm I’m quite tempted with Super Puzzle Fighterings II Turbo HD Remix for 4 quid

SaffieFireblade 11 March, 2010 @ 2:16 pm   38

Ahhh no dynasty warriors: strike force DLC!
Any news on when we might getting any?

Pretty please? :P

can u please ask about yakuza 3 dlc voucher m8 as its a lot of dlc that isnt letting me get right now and voucher expires in 10 days so please dont let customers down guys

vicheous 11 March, 2010 @ 2:16 pm   40

Not much for me this week! Maybe a few videos!
I’m enjoying WKC, FFXIII, Yakuza 3 & BFBC2 to much to even wanna go into the PSN store this week ;-)

ProphetOfRage 11 March, 2010 @ 2:17 pm   41

Wow, a re-released demo.
Scraping the bottom of the barrel are we?

@Devilater

Problem being I don’t think a lot of people have a brilliant understanding of how the industry works and although in the past Mike has said it’s up to the publisher a lot of people don’t read those comments.

People will go to the people they see responsible, in this case it’s Sony.

Nice update by the way, I’ll not be picking anything up as I’ve got Final Fantasy XIII to play.

GothPunk 11 March, 2010 @ 2:18 pm   43

Fantastic update for my PSP this week, I figured Dissidia was coming today with those not too subtle hints on your Twitter, Ross. Heh! It will be mine come pay day. :D Not that my PSP will be getting a look in much this month with all the new PS3 games gracing my shelves this month.

vicheous 11 March, 2010 @ 2:18 pm   44

Oh i might get EOJ for PSP! I liked the demo!!

Drakkie 11 March, 2010 @ 2:18 pm   45

What, no Makeover Ticket for White knight chronicles? I want to be able to change my Avatar…

hobgoblin 11 March, 2010 @ 2:19 pm   46

I’m still not understanding what SCEE are classing as “classics”? When I saw that there were five of these on the store today, i thought that there’d be at least one that would get my interest. Turns out, I’ve heard of none of them.

ljforlozz 11 March, 2010 @ 2:19 pm   47

And to know all the ps1 classics today are from XS games no proper ones or any others will be coming anytime soon :-(

caba454545 11 March, 2010 @ 2:21 pm   48

In terms of PSP games, not bad, 3 games I might download later on.

But come on, 5 PSOne “classics”? Firstly, they’re not available in the majority of PSN EU locales, secondly I’ve never ever heard of any of them before… perhaps some old NetYaroze merchandise??

GuttermouthSIN 11 March, 2010 @ 2:21 pm   49

Nothing at all for me this week :(

Loving the use of the word ‘classics’ for those PS1 games.

vicheous 11 March, 2010 @ 2:22 pm   50

I got two ModNation Racers PSP Themes anyone want one?
Here’s the redeem key:
