I’m really pleased to announce that we’ve got a new promotion coming to PlayStation Store this week (starting Thursday 1st of April), and it’s all focused on a range of our PSP content.

For two weeks only, you’ll be able to grab a great deal on some great PSP titles. We’re calling them favourites because, well, they’re some of our favourites (though like all our children we love them all equally, just some more so than others) and the promotion features a range of well loved games that we’re sure you’ll want to snap up at these brilliant prices.

I’m really pleased with the titles we have been able to get reduced for you and feel that there is definitely something for everyone here, but don’t just take my word for it, see for yourself by reading the full listing below.

Available on PlayStation Store via PS3, PSP and Media Go

What Will You Be Playing This Easter?

EnglishSelect a Language:

Easter swiftly approaches. You’ve less than a week until you’re stuffing your face with chocolate and enjoying a four-day weekend. Which makes it the perfect time to relax and enjoy some video games. The last three months have seen a huge amount of games being released, so what will you be playing?

Those of you above the age of 18 will no doubt be getting your heads around Heavy Rain and God of War III — a combo of titles that should stimulate you intellectually, as well as … viscerally. If Kratos’ brutal style of revenge isn’t your thing, however, there’s always Final Fantasy XIII — which in itself could take you the entire long weekend. Especially if you go for the sidequests, too. It’s definitely a game well worthy of your time.

And, okay, if you actually want to keep things in the Easter spirit, there’s a batch of Easter downloads for EyePet as well with the Easter Styling Pack available to download from PlayStation Store to give your beloved pet a slightly more seasonal look.

So, let us know what you’ll be playing this long weekend. We’re nosy and want to know!

PS3 Firmware 3.21 Coming April 1st

EnglishSelect a Language:

Countries: , , , ,

PS3 Firmware 3.21 will be available this Thursday. It will disable the “Install Other OS” feature that was available on the PS3 systems prior to the current slimmer models, launched in September 2009. This feature enabled users to install an operating system, but due to security concerns, we’re now removing this feature.

For most of you, this won’t have any impact on how you use your PS3. If you are one of the few who use the “Other OS” feature, or if you belong to an organisation that does, then you can choose not to upgrade your system. However, doing so will mean that the following features will not be available:

  • Ability to sign in to PlayStation Network and use network features that require signing in to PlayStation Network, such as online features of PS3 games and chat.
  • Playback of PS3 software titles or Blu-ray Disc videos that require PS3 system software version 3.21 or later.
  • Playback of copyright-protected videos that are stored on a media server (when DTCP-IP is enabled under Settings).
  • Use of new features and improvements that are available on PS3 system software 3.21 or later.

If you currently use the “Other OS” feature and you wish to update to system software 3.21, make sure you back-up any data stored within the hard drive partition used by the “Other OS,” as they will not be able to access that data following the update.

The PSB.Europe weekly reading list (week commencing the 22nd of March)

Short list this week as I’ve been out of the office ill for a few days. Those of you excited about the Move, however, should be pleased to see a rather in-depth techy piece on the possibilities of the device, courtesy of Kotaku. I’ve also linked through to the Engadget Show that we streamed last week, in case you missed it live. You’ve probably already seen the Minority Report tech demo by now, but if you haven’t I’d recommend checking it out in the Engadget Show.
