First MAG DLC Free, Coming Next Week

It’s kind of late for big news here in Europe, but if I know you guys as well as I think I do, you’re probably still awake and eager to hear it. So here’s Jeremy Dunham from Zipper to introduce to you the first DLC pack for MAG, which will be available for free before the end of the month!

On behalf of everyone here at Zipper Interactive, I’m pleased to announce that beginning March 25, our first official MAG downloadable add-on will be made available to players worldwide absolutely free of charge!

Dubbed the “Trooper Gear Pack,” our first DLC addition to the MAG universe will offer a number of cool goodies for veterans and first timers alike. Out of everything in the pack, the most popular will likely be the oft-requested “Flashbang Grenade” that can be used to confuse, disorient or distract your enemies in a single throw.

Of course, there’s more to the Trooper Gear Pack than Flashbangs. We’ll also be including new special edition Light Machine Guns for each PMC. Raven’s APEX 100SE, SVER’s RTK-74 Vla, and Valor’s Mk 46 Mod 1 weapons will provide both a new look for your favorite LMGs and a number of performance adjustments as well.

The last element of the pack will be two additional uniforms – “Trooper Dark” and “Trooper Light.” Available to all three PMCs, these uniforms are specifically designed for urban and interior combat situations and give you two more aesthetic options to diversify your character with.

The best part of the Trooper Gear Pack? It’s just the beginning of our ongoing commitment to MAG. In the coming months, you can expect to see plenty of other add-ons and goodies that we can’t quite tell you about yet (but know you’ll enjoy).

But that’s not all. To commemorate the release of our DLC, we want to throw in a little extra. And so, as a thank you to all of our fans, we’re offering Double XP to any and all MAG players starting March 25. Simply log in at 12am Pacific/ 3am Eastern/ 8am GMT and play MAG as you normally would. Every time you complete a game your experience doubles, and yes, this bonus stacks for Veterans who already have an XP bonus to begin with! Just make sure you actually complete the games you play – if you quit early, your bonus won’t apply.

Expect the Double XP promotion to run until 11:59pm Pacific time on Sunday, March 28. Be sure to take advantage of it as much as you possibly can until then.

For more MAG-related news, don’t forget to visit the Official MAG Blog on a regular basis, or check out our Official Zipper Interactive Twitter and Facebook pages. Enjoy your weekend everybody!

make.believe: thatgamecompany

Sony Corp’s new brand messaging, make.believe, has been around for a little while now, acting as an umbrella motto for the entire company. It’s a simple idea — believe that anything you can imagine, you can make real. This has inspired thatgamecompany, creators of two awesome PSN games, flOw and Flower, to the point where they took part in creating a brand video for the company. It shows where they came from and how they got to where they are now, and you can check it out below.

Digital Comics Store Update (18th March 2010)

Another Thursday, another batch of Digital Comics. But before I go in to the details I want to share some new publisher news. I’m very pleased to announce that Markosia Enterprises have joined the Digital Comics family and will be releasing their content on the store very soon.

‘These are exciting times for us,’ says publisher Harry Markos, ‘there is no denying that the digital comic is here to stay and it will have a major say over the next year or two. We are delighted to be partnering with Sony in this venture and from what I have seen so far; this is very much an exciting step forward. The graphics look amazing on PSP, crystal clear and surprisingly user-friendly thanks to the AutoFlow feature.’

Markosia bring our publisher tally up to 12. We’ll be announcing more publishers over the coming weeks.

Okay, so on to this week’s highlights:

IDW and EA have teamed up to bring you the Dragon Age comic book series. Written by the acclaimed Ender’s Game novelist Orson Scott Card, the comic is in the store ahead of its release in the shops.

Digital Comics

From IDW we also see the last of Transformers: All Hail Megatron and the final episode of Locke & Key: Head Games. Don’t worry though, Locke & Key Crown of Shadows starts next week and comes with a lot of excellent audio commentary.

Marvel release 5 more issues of vintage X-Men (1963) and from Titan we have Shaun the Sheep #4.

You may have noticed that we changed the store structure a little last week. We have introduced two new categories “Staff Picks” where we highlight some of our favourite comics (zombie themed at the moment) and “Featured Hero” where we collect various series based around a particular character. Give us a shout if you wish to see anything specific.

That’s enough rambling from me here’s the complete list:

  • Archie & Friends #137: A Night at the Comic Shop #2 Archie Comics 3+
