‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (1st April 2010)

Good morning all (not often I’m posting before lunch), today the store will be up nice and early, because we’re lovely folks like that :)

Lovely folks that bring you the PSP Favourites promotion (which I posted about earlier in the week) a new batch of Special Offers, more permanent price reductions and of course all that sparkly, shiny, new content that keeps you coming back for more (or is it my magnetic personality?).

I’m pleased to say we have available the pre-order for the forthcoming Sam and Max: The Devil’s Playhouse series of episodes. Until the launch of the first episode you can pre-order the bundle at a lower price, and then once the episodes are released (one each month) you can download them directly from the store. If you haven’t enjoyed any of the previous titles featuring this great team, then prepare for some serious fun; and it’s not much longer to wait until the first episode is upon us.

This week you’re also going to be able to take another trip into the world of Heavy Rain, with a new scene featuring Madison (some of you may recognise this as the scene that was used to demo the game at Leipzig 2008).

It goes without saying this is all served up with lots more great content, which is all handily listed below.

If I don’t get the chance to talk to you directly in the comments this week, have an awesome Easter, and see you on the flipside.

Cheers.

namco! yay! hang on. i just got that off the na store! doe!!!

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 9:15 am   11

This update would actually make me happier if we were offered a FREE game, or 2, for having linux being taken away from us at least. Unfortunately we are being offered nothing in return for what I paid for.

No it is not the ONLY REASON I bought my ps3 for but it is ONE OF THEM. I would like to keep what I paid for, and if not, at least have some loyalty shown to me for once. I’ve spent TONNES on PSN, it’s time Sony show me loyalty.

iorkara 1 April, 2010 @ 9:15 am   12

Still no Ridge Racer or Ridge Racer 2 for my PSP Go, I really don’t understand why it’s not up. However the specials can put my mind off that fact for another week. +1

KuFeL78 1 April, 2010 @ 9:15 am   13

with pain in my heart ;) I have to say that except pre-order of Sam & Max, I do not see anything attractive for me, PS3 player…

Marrsterhausen 1 April, 2010 @ 9:17 am   14

steven_dutch 1 April, 2010 @ 9:18 am   16

Nice big update, posted early as well.
Will the Namco Museum feature the home unlockables?

Wild_Guns 1 April, 2010 @ 9:19 am   17

Thanks for Sam&Max, but which languages will be supported (as subtitles of course)?

AKGermany 1 April, 2010 @ 9:19 am   18

Do you have any info yet on the Euro pricing of the Sam $ Max Episodes when you don’t preorder/buy the bundle? It would be nice to know how much/little you can save by preordering.

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 9:25 am

I know what it will be, but not sure if I can share this yet, so to be safe I won’t say anything ;)

Zorin_Burittsu 1 April, 2010 @ 9:19 am   19

too good to be true!!!

Ikkarus 1 April, 2010 @ 9:21 am   20

A Warhawk dynamic theme??!?!?!?!?

Sold!

Have a great easter Mike, appreciate the efforts you put in for the PSP discounts.

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 9:25 am

Thanks! I made a promise to myself to ensure we did something really special for our PSP owners, and I think we delivered with this promotion ;)

Nothing for me sadly thanks to firmware 3.21 i’m no longer be able to get anything from the store.

@11
Sony don’t care about their costumer, all that Sony cares is about get or money the rest is not their problem.

Lantianer21 1 April, 2010 @ 9:28 am   22

Wow nice update Mike :)
At least one PSP game is bought today :D!
Do you know anything about more Dynasty Warrior Strikeforce DLC’s for PS3?
Have a great easter Mike

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 9:33 am

I’ve taken the following information from the store description oif the DLC :)

    Hope this helps:

The following quests will be added to the city’s ‘Noticeboard’ (in addition to previous content).

Carnivius_Prime 1 April, 2010 @ 9:32 am   23

dang blast it. I was told Namco Museum Essentials was never coming out on the Europe store so I bought it on the US one a couple months ago. Does the Eu version work in our Home ok then? meaning do the arcade machines actually play cos the US ones don’t work on the EU home. If this one is fully compatible with my Eu Home then I might have to buy it again. Maybe you should gimme that for free as you took my linux away hmmm hmmmm? ah go on.

How much would Sam & Max work out if you don’t pre-order? I feel a bit uneasy pre-ordering downloadable games you can’t resell if you don’t like them. Sure I enjoyed the original game all them years ago but I dunno.

pawelgr5 1 April, 2010 @ 9:33 am   24

Gey. Have a great Easter!! Was waiting for Outrun price reduction for quite some time:) Is this true that starting 5th May Store will be updated on Wednesday??

Boooo! I’m not getting anything until the High Stakes Poker add-on arrives!(any news yet btw)…. well, maybe i’ll just get Namco Museum Essentials this week….. ummm, and the Dragon Age freebies… Oh! Rock Band Hendrix! I’m ‘avin those….. hmmm and a Football Manager Handheld 2010 bargain too.

LockIeys 1 April, 2010 @ 9:34 am   26

Damn fine update guys, damn fine.

Lantianer21 1 April, 2010 @ 9:36 am   27

Thx for reply Mike :)

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 9:36 am

No worries (even if you are on the side of Raven, boo-hiss, SVER all the way buddy) ;)

Really like the way you set out this weeks list with the bold titles, really nice and easy to read.

CodeMonkey_UK 1 April, 2010 @ 9:36 am   29

Best update in a while (for PS3 users it’s been very barren lately).

Sam and Max preorder and Heavy Rain DLC, been looking forward to these two. It would be nice to know how much we save on Sam and Max preorder though.

I’m presuming it’s a couple of quid, right?

Awesome update :)
Today’s gonna be an expensive today for me lol

Have a good Easter, Mike :D

LockIeys 1 April, 2010 @ 9:39 am   31

@11
I’m pretty sure Sony almost halving the price of its best selling PSP games should be enough ‘loyalty.’

Bodachi 1 April, 2010 @ 9:40 am   32

Great update, I guess I’ll have to say good bye to my money.

StefNighthawk 1 April, 2010 @ 9:41 am   33

Any news about “Half Minute Hero” for Belgium/Netherlands.

I can’t even seem to find an UMD copy in our local gamestore.

Blood_God_UK 1 April, 2010 @ 9:42 am   34

will we get section 8 or Anarchy: Rush Hour any time this month, other then that update is spot on, thinkin of gettin Namco Museum or the Sam and Max pre-order.

funnydude6556 1 April, 2010 @ 9:44 am   35

why is it I always imagine Mike looking like that guy from friends with the same name? I know not all people called Mike look like that but I can’t get that image out of my head!

I’m getting a £20 PSN card for easter soon and I might buy myself another so I can afford a PSP Game, the heavy rain DLC, Sam and Max and some Home content.

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 9:47 am

Hehe. I’d be happy to look like that guy (Paul Rudd), I think the girlfriend has a slight crush on him, so I’m sure she’d be happy too ;)

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 9:48 am   36

@ 31 Sorry, but not good enough. Me and my partner are students, are not made of money, we have a laptop and the ps3 between us. We both attend uni. we used the ps3 for word processing for assignments and other needs. It was NOT useless to us. I couldn’t give 2 tosses about not many others using it.

I dont see how discounts and me handing even more money over to sony is any constillation over this Other OS fiasco.

daffycare 1 April, 2010 @ 9:49 am   37

nice update and nice and early thanks, have a good easter.

what a rubbish update – doesn’t matter though, as I won’t be able to access the store after today anyway – screw you sony, and your illeagl removal of Other OS functions.

BLEACH-Fan 1 April, 2010 @ 9:51 am   39

Hey are we gonna get God of War 3 avatars cause ive been using the same avatar since the PS3 launched here in the UK lol just wondering

djax-djax 1 April, 2010 @ 9:53 am   40

Williams Pinball still not on store…few weeks I will play Pinball Heroes, but then I want Williams Pinball :-D. OK Mike?

helghast102 1 April, 2010 @ 9:54 am   41

@38

“Illegal removal”? Did you even BOTHER to read the EULA? Jesus Christ.

So what is the Hammer Wars minis?

That makes 4 minis that I haven’t seen any screenshots of before release?

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 9:56 am   43

EULA’s are NOT binding in all cases as they would otherwise be giving up consumer rights allotted by law

Gthe002 1 April, 2010 @ 9:56 am   44

Cool. Sam and Max is a must have and I only hope I have some money left.

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 9:56 am   45

My post of 43 was directed @ 41

Typpihappo 1 April, 2010 @ 9:57 am   46

Yet ANOTHER update with nothing of interest. I’ve had 17 euros on my PSN account for almost two months now! What is it with Sony Europe’s painfully slow service? I’m slowly losing my faith..

Still, any word on 1) PSone Classic Grandia and 2) Hamsterball, which according to TikGames’ Howard Lehr has already gotten a PEGI Rating (+7)? The usual excuse for the delay is the rating process, but since that’s already done with, why is it still absent from our Store?

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 10:02 am

Hamsterball is coming, for some reason they released in the US before us (for once, every other title has released in the EU first).

SolidNinjaSnake 1 April, 2010 @ 9:57 am   47

Woah woah woah, SVR10 has had a permanant price reduction? So that’ll now mean SVR09 is more than it? I really don’t get what’s happening here. XD

IT
ONLY
DOES
LINUX
OR
PSN. NOT BOTH

Terrible update, made even more shocking by the removal of OtherOS.

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 10:03 am

Sorry but I disagree, this is far from a terrible store update, but of course you’re entitled to your opinion ;)

beranmee 1 April, 2010 @ 10:01 am   49

Good looking update, but what is Hammer Wars?

helghast102 1 April, 2010 @ 10:01 am   50

@43

They aren’t violating your rights though, just protecting themselves from piracy.

If you want to keep linux, fine, don’t update, but to say it’s illegal? BS.

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 10:02 am   51

HERE HERE @ 48

Devilater 1 April, 2010 @ 10:05 am   52

Aprils 1st?

Awesome update!

When will the store be up Mike?

gheywood 1 April, 2010 @ 10:06 am   53

Can those moaning about linux at least keep it to the firmware update thread? My little violin cannot keep up.

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 10:06 am   54

@50 In Australia it actually IS excuse me.

They sold a product with an advertised feature. They have no removed that feature. That is illegal under Australian law.

Frontmast3106 1 April, 2010 @ 10:08 am   55

All this PSP stuff!…time for me to get a PSP I think. :)

helghast102 1 April, 2010 @ 10:09 am   56

@54

They advertised it? Erm, no they didn’t?

Point out one single case of actual advertising of the feature and you are excused.

TheHappyTurtle 1 April, 2010 @ 10:09 am   57

Gotta join in with the “moaners” here, From my understanding of directive 1999/44/EC Sony have broken consumer law here in the UK and should be held accountable.

MasamuneSSX 1 April, 2010 @ 10:11 am   58

I hold out little faith that Mike will reply to this but are we going to see *any* new PS One titles in the store soon? I appreciate the odds of seeing anything that actually appeals are remote but some new titles would be nice.

You had me at Warhawk dynamic theme!

@50 – just because you’re not affected?

It is standard ‘bait and switch’ tactics – I bought a ps3 with the ability to install and use Linux – now sony have effecitvely stolen my Linux machine.

screw you sony.

DsupremeR 1 April, 2010 @ 10:13 am   61

Nice update! Maybe I’ll grab one of those games!

Skookie30 1 April, 2010 @ 10:13 am   62

@mike you not getting a so-so update from me today it’s a good update.

i never think we see the day that when linux died, Namco arise in it’s place so i be getting that & HR-DLC. :)

maybe 2weeks getting S&M it good to see we getting pre-orders will it be for other titles, im sure it be popular.

but it would be even great update if ps1 classics has come today. but no how many weeks now. :p

& lastly have a happy Fool’s day & a happy easter to ALL. :)

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 10:13 am   63

@56 Sony only trumpeted it loudly at launch/prelaunch, at keynotes quite often. You know small mentions… /sarcasm

It’s also worth mentioning that they were almost going to have linux preinstalled. Certain models of the ps2 could have linux aswell. linux has been a very big part of the ps3. It was NEVER hardly mentioned or not advertised as you have tried to imply.

@31

Sure. Sony Make that price reduction to try to go away from the fiasco with “Others OS”. That form my point of view is not called “LOYALTY” is called “BRIBERY”

Jonsaan 1 April, 2010 @ 10:14 am   65

Hi Mike. Can you confirm if DOA PAradise is coming to PSN. it’s out at retail tomorrow after all.

Re: namco Museum essentials.
Does that mean we will be getting the space for Home anytime soon or will we be waiting 9 months for the space to appear for Home?
Ghostbusters personal space, wow I’m almost glad I’m off work sick today.

Desperate_Gamer 1 April, 2010 @ 10:16 am   67

Thanks for the very early update :D Couldn’t wait to buy Chinatown Wars with such a price. I will probably buy more discounted PSP Games after the holidays, after making sure that I’ve got some money left.

I’m really happy with promotional discounts like this. It shows that we are interested in digital distribution and we will support it if the price is right. Congrats to Sony for giving us the chance for some quality gaming (there are the best games on PSP right now) at low prices.

Is that TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled a PSP Game or the HD remake on PS3? I will probably buy that too at such a great price out of nostalgia.

I would also like to say that I’d really like Silent Hill Shattered Memories on the EU store. Please Mike do something!

Mike,

What’s all this talk of Wednesday updates?

Can it be true? Is the man that single handedly* banished Anti-Climax Thursday to the rubbish bin of history, really moving to Wednesday’s?

* obviously by saying “single handedly”, I also acknowledge that Ross might have helped a bit as well… with the kettle ;-)

liambonner 1 April, 2010 @ 10:16 am   69

Hey Mike, Do you know if theres any chance of a demo for 3d dot game heroes?

helghast102 1 April, 2010 @ 10:17 am   70

@63

Haha, that’s what I thought.

I know they have talked about it, but they have hardly made a big deal about it.

Compared to other features, Linux has only been muttered. and merely talking at keynotes ISN’T advertising, no laws were broken.

astrocrack 1 April, 2010 @ 10:18 am   71

Pretty weak update. Today the ps3 is getting more sutff removed than added. What is so great about that?

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 10:21 am   72

@70 it wasn’t just at keynotes excuse me. Those events are quite important aswell. I gave your freaking example. now it’s suddenly not good enough?

Btw by your dodgy logic, all press releases aren’t advertising, which there have been linux based press releases for the ps3 outlining it and “advertising” it.

@70 – stop being a sony shill.

It’s written on the side of the box my ps3 came in, and also in the manual – now run along little man.

Jonsaan 1 April, 2010 @ 10:21 am   74

In fact DOA Paradise is out at retail TODAY. I thought all games got simultaneous release now?

@56

If this is not advertise tell me. What is?

http://www.playstation.com/ps3-openplatform/manual.html

Note: This is a SONY website

Bandicoot1980 1 April, 2010 @ 10:22 am   76

Hey Mike,

Nice update, but anycahnce of the Singstar update from last week ?

vicheous 1 April, 2010 @ 10:24 am   77

Okay update! Some DLC for me…

To many new blu ray games to care about the PSN update…
Just Cause 2, White Knight Chronicles, Yakuza 3, Final Fantasy XIII and more.

HAPPY EASTER ALL PSN’rs ;-)

good grief. Namco Museum? Sam and Max? i think i’m in love… with this update!

Roxas598 1 April, 2010 @ 10:28 am   79

good for go owners

Bad for PS3 owners :(

Might DL the warhawk theme tho!

mike anything about the White knight chronicles theme? and the flower OST?

Please dood!

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 10:28 am   80

@56 & 75 lol nice catch and pwned.

I especially like this part.
There is more to the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system than you may have assumed.

Advertising much?

Carnivius_Prime 1 April, 2010 @ 10:29 am   81

Looks like I’m broke anyways after coming up with an alternative to using my PS3 as a decent little computer. Nothing on Blu Ray I want though except Heavy Rain (finished God of War 3 already and there’s been absolutely nothing else of interest to me released this year so far) and nothing I really want all that much on the store after all. Looks like I’ll just be playing Uncharted 2 multiplayer as usual.

TehPhilosopher 1 April, 2010 @ 10:30 am   82

I’m not going to be spending any money on PS3 anymore due to the firmware downgrade today which takes away an advertised feature on MY console. I was expecting to spend 1,000+ EUR this year on games and peripherals (Move), but thanks to Sony’s actions I will stop spending any more money on anything made by Sony.

My next gen console will be Xbox720, OnLive, or a PC.

Myst3rialP 1 April, 2010 @ 10:31 am   83

Solid, really solid PSP update! Thank you very much and have a great Easter!

GothPunk 1 April, 2010 @ 10:31 am   84

One of the best updates ever Mike, if only because if all the great price cuts on PSP stuff. I held out on buying GTA: Chinatown Wars but I’ll bite at that offer price. Have a great Easter everyone. :D

those reductions for the psp should be the prices for all games, new or old. Merry april fool’s day though!! :D

Phynix84 1 April, 2010 @ 10:33 am   86

great up date nice work – taxidermist is a must have!

Thanks Mike, but it looks like I can’t access Store after fw 3.21 upade goes live, as I need to use Linux in my PS3. I also would like to use Store too, as I have heard that FF IX is going to hit Store sooner or later. (Plus tons of other nice stuff and play online games, specially M.A.G.) :(

It is rather sad that Sony didn’t bother to check European consumer laws before announcing 3.21 as removing OtherOS-option really does break several of those laws.

I still keep hoping fw 3.21 is april fools joke tho… Sigh…

GahLakTus 1 April, 2010 @ 10:37 am   88

hey mike. jus gotta say GREAT update.

first thing i gotta ask is, the sam and max pre-order is a MUST for me. but its my birthday next week and i know im due a couple psn vouchers so was gonna get it next week. that plenty of time before the games out to pre-order?

also any news about the resident evil ps1 games coming to store?

and how did u find time for this huge update?

and any chance of an update allowing us to use trophy icons as out avatars? :P

J

ps. we need a mega drive setion on store with emulated games. wud kick as.

SKINRUSH 1 April, 2010 @ 10:39 am   89

I’m going to jump on the moaning about the removal of Other OS bandwagon too.

Whilst I didn’t really use Linux on my PS3 all that much, I did end up buying a USB keyboard & mouse for that use, which are now redundant.

Yes, I know I can sell them on (at a loss), or keep them for no good reason, but that’s not the point.

I feel that it would be appropriate for Sony to compensate PS3 users in some way for the removal of a feature which may have been a factor in them buying a PS3 in the first place.

Orangeno 1 April, 2010 @ 10:41 am   90

I like it (update), but this is to early for me!! :D

I will get the pre-order. Nice to see that even that is possible trough the store!

Happy easter, do not drown in the chocolate…

SlykDrako 1 April, 2010 @ 10:42 am   91

Where is the great update people is talking about? Did I miss something? I can only see PSP things to buy, almost anything to PS3, oh wait, they removed a functionality, amazing update in fact… not! Let’s see if this move is in fact illegal, if it is I will, probably, return my PS3 for a full refund.

StefNighthawk 1 April, 2010 @ 10:44 am   92

Hmmm, my local gamestore has “Half Minute Hero” listed for release on 16th april. Wonder if it will also be released on the Belgian PSN store.

@80

Next time finish please.
There is more to the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system than you may have assumed. In addition to playing games, watching movies, listening to music, and viewing photos, YOU CAN USE THE PS3™ SYSTEM TO RUN THE LINUX OPERATING SYSTEM.

And by the way in which century are you. Advertise is not fix a flyer on the wall or on TV. Theres loads of other ways to advertise. And the website from Sony is one of them.

wbrinkman 1 April, 2010 @ 10:45 am   94

Ah nuts. No access to PSN or the store anymore.

Just lost a customer, Mike

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 10:50 am   95

@93. I just cherry picking my favourite sentence out of it that’s all? What are you going on about, have you actually been reading my posts? I KNOW it’s advertising. I liked it as it encapsulated the very idea that Sony have been trying to push all along, the ps3 is more than just a games console. it can do linux, it can do bluray, it can do media streaming, etc etc.

Think before you blast, your targeting the wrong man here. I’m on your side.

iapetus 1 April, 2010 @ 10:51 am   96

@70: Phil Harrison described it as one of the most powerful features of the PS3. That’s hardly muttering. And yes, it *is* illegal under EU and UK law.

Of course, most of the greatness in this update is for the PSP, and there’s no need to do a firmware update to access that – either download it directly on the PSP or use the PC version of the store to download and sync to the PSP.

Skookie30 1 April, 2010 @ 10:51 am   97

@mike i forgot to say congrats to your EX-scee boss david reeves for getting TOP JOB of cRapcom ceo, maybe now we will get our capcom ps1 classics, as they said “we want to expand our market etc to europe”.

the old saying, “let them come to you, Not you come to them”.

oh the irony. :D

TheHappyTurtle 1 April, 2010 @ 10:53 am   98

lol, that was like watching a train crash. Wonder hom many posts are going to be hijacked by those who are annoyed at Sony’s arrogant approach to consumer rights

TDunner95 1 April, 2010 @ 10:58 am   99

when do the ne cod maps arive in the store ???

funnydude6556 1 April, 2010 @ 10:58 am   100

@54 yeah but australian law also bans any game with a rating over 15+ so I think it’s fair to assume some of the laws in australia are stupid.

This isn’t false advertising as the Terms and Conditions are obviously going to be changed and there’s a very good reason to get rid of it, sony would lose a lot of money in the PSN Store from hackers and that would mean guess what?

CRAPPIER UPDATES! Seeing as your not even pleased by the state of the updates at the moment I’ll say this is a good thing.

Stratege 1 April, 2010 @ 11:01 am   101

Nice update, but again no Penny Arcade Adventures for Russia WTH? :(

TheHappyTurtle 1 April, 2010 @ 11:04 am   102

This is going to lead to Sony losing money anyways, developers who were legitimately using the PS3 linux option will now be looking for ways to hack the system more now than ever. This is Sony pretty much throwing down the gauntlet to groups like Geohack.

It’s a pity as nothing was broken before, games were still secure. And now everyones jumping on the Sony fanboy bandwagon of crying about security.

danielmccue 1 April, 2010 @ 11:05 am   103

glad you got rid of that useless feature linux anywho i will be checking out the warhazk dynamic theme hope its as good as it sounds

also i had an idea for a dynamic theme you could have like a cartoon kratos doing is thing that way it would look amazing as well as being awesome (thinking of like the intro at the beggining of gos of war 3 style cartoon) would be awesome

oh and it would be great if you had competitions on designing a dynamic theme then you guys make it and put it on the store for free like you did on rag doll kung fu!

@93

I’m not blasting at you and I know in which side you are.
I read every post, not just your posts.
May I just get carried away, that’s it.
But the full sentence makes better sense.

TheHappyTurtle 1 April, 2010 @ 11:07 am   105

@103

You’re glad that they’ve violated your rights? If you weren’t using the linux feature then it’s done nothing for you. So you shouldn’t be glad or disappointed at the actual loss. Although you should be angry at the precident, if Geohotz/Geohackz designs a method of breaking the security using the Blu-Ray player would you want them to remove that?

meeh… i updated and now i see i have money for a slim so i could’ve kept 3.20 on my phat and run linux on it :(

majorRaj 1 April, 2010 @ 11:09 am   107

Hi,

Some people have managed to get access to a new Gran Turismo 5 demo, will that be out on the playstation store?

thanks in advance

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 11:10 am   108

@100 guess what? The idiot responsible for the banning of games and no R rating is gone. So that issue is dead in the water.

@93 Fair enough I understand now, I just thought for the sake of length I’d take that bit haha.

stephenc87 1 April, 2010 @ 11:10 am   109

I’d also like to ask if there’s any date on Section 8 coming out on our store? Will it at least be this month?

get2sammyb 1 April, 2010 @ 11:12 am   110

Get in! Namco Museum Essentials. Been waiting for that.

Sp4reNL 1 April, 2010 @ 11:12 am   111

No Anarchy: Rush Hour ? :-(

Paulus-NL 1 April, 2010 @ 11:16 am   112

why aren’t there movie trailers anymore? they where always great :)

Alcest-Wizard 1 April, 2010 @ 11:18 am   113

Mike,
Do you know if Half-Minute Hero will be available on Spanish store? I really want to play that game.

Btw, great update ;)

dgnfly 1 April, 2010 @ 11:18 am   114

the only rhing worth about this date are the special overs why the hell aren’t we getting any ps1 classics we aren’t even getting any ps1 classic most are old crap nobody wants 2 play are you guys even trying 2 get ps1 games 2 the europe store and why the hell aren’t there any new psp games worth buying

dgnfly 1 April, 2010 @ 11:20 am   115

i was wondering considering we still don’t have any ATLUS games i expect that persona 3 portable will not even come 2 our store why the hell did sony release the [Deleted] psp go then it’s only a piece of crap in europe

@102

This just prove once again that SONY real don’t care about their customers. I have to say that I admire George Hotz, is just one kid and SONY was plenty of technician. Technician that get paid with or money and what they have done, nothing. George Hotz found an exploit, that let you access to the RAM of the PS3. Not that you can play pirated games with that exploit, but all that SONY can do is remove Linux. I have to say SONY you real need to employee better and smart technicians.

TheHappyTurtle 1 April, 2010 @ 11:21 am   117

Mike,

Do you have an opinion on the “other os” issue? I know it’s not your department however I read that many of the developers for PS3 games (esp smaller PSstore games) initially used Linux/PS3 to test out the graphics.

Or have you been ordered to remain silent on this?

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 11:28 am

I haven’t been ordered to remain silent on it, but it’s not appropriate for me to involve myself.

iapetus 1 April, 2010 @ 11:22 am   118

@100 Until you can actually come up with a valid reason why the removal of an advertised feature doesn’t fall foul of the sale of goods act and EU Directive 1999/44/EC perhaps you shouldn’t be commenting on whether it’s legal?

dgnfly 1 April, 2010 @ 11:25 am   119

116@

i so agree with you sony isen’t listening 2 us cause they don’t care they want our money they would like us 2 shut the F up and just send them money for all the crap they give us

Carl-G 1 April, 2010 @ 11:25 am   120

*Namco Museum Essentials* :P SWEET! ! ! :)

racedriving 1 April, 2010 @ 11:30 am   121

Outrun Arcade Online looks interesting. However I’m forced to be offline because I won’t give up my Linux.

ProphetOfRage 1 April, 2010 @ 11:30 am   122

I really hope this update and the prices quoted are an April fools joke.

TheHappyTurtle 1 April, 2010 @ 11:31 am   123

Fair enough Mike, I can respect that and I don’t envy you and some of the other contributors on here right now. Can’t see this dying down any time soon

ironsword7 1 April, 2010 @ 11:33 am   124

it’s clearly your magnetic personality ;) Thanks for the update.

patriot36954 1 April, 2010 @ 11:33 am   125

So the PSP gets two sets of special offers most of the price reductions, i feel neglected as a ps3 owner :(

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 11:34 am

PSP owners have been asking for some extra love for a while now, so it’s their chance to feel loved. PS3 owners have it pretty good most of the time right?

iapetus 1 April, 2010 @ 11:33 am   126

@Mike: Classy and diplomatic response, though we’d expect nothing less. ;)

danielmccue 1 April, 2010 @ 11:37 am   127

wont let me update mike i keep losing connection i got to 57% then it lost connection so i tried again it restarted from 1 % then it lost connection again now it wont even start little help here?

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 11:37 am   128

Yeah Mike you and the moderators, you are all top guys and girls. on my points scale your all still 100. It’s only only Sony “the man” who is -20 right now. they managed to get that point reading in 4 days. I’ve been a ardent follower ever since my grey beauty.

johndrinkwater 1 April, 2010 @ 11:38 am   129

[Deleted], I want to pre-order Sam & Max (owned the original PC game since the day it launched…), and get Chinatown Wars, but no, standing firm on the firmware update sans OtherOS issue.
I think i’ll just game offline *and* [Deleted] moan to Sony.

Please Mike, pass on my annoyances upwards.

Jaaay2k 1 April, 2010 @ 11:41 am   130

Well sorry Mike, I will never be able to buy more things from you. :(
I refuse to update my console… Have a good april fool Mike

Chaosprower 1 April, 2010 @ 11:41 am   131

YES! Sam and Max pre-order! I love you! And nice PSP offers.

x-shaney-x 1 April, 2010 @ 11:43 am   132

So when is the actual update?
I’m waiting for The Taxidermist DLC but it’s still not up.

A1_B2_C3 1 April, 2010 @ 11:45 am   133

Great update for PSPgo owners.:)

Now all we need is FFVII:Crisis Core on the store. Any news Mike?

thedude6666 1 April, 2010 @ 11:46 am   134

Quality update Mike, thanks a lot.

Hardly anybody uses the linux on the PS3 anyway.

TOMMO121081 1 April, 2010 @ 11:50 am   135

i gotta add this. i bought and installed Linux (YDL) on my PS3, bought a mouse and KB too. it was so poorly supported that i formatted my HDD about 4 mnths ago and haven’t used it since.
i appreciate why people are [Deleted] off, but i can’t believe that anything will come of this and if any one wants to pursue a legal battle with Sony then i’ll be watching with baited breath. if you jsut wanna bitch about it on an unrelated thread then you can go jump. action, not words, my friends.
to finish off, if some spoilt a-hole didn’t spend his time trying to hack the PS3 (for what reason? you have to be pretty [Deleted] dumb to think that piracy will not be a primary use of the hack) then this wouldn’t even be a problem. piracy has practicallty crippled the PSP (that and poor 3rd party support lol [oh yeah, poor 3rd party support BERCAUSE OF PIRACY]), and if you prioritise your use of Linux over my use of my PS3 as a games/movie machine, then we havea conflict of interests and i’m siding with Sony here.

finally, this thread is not the place for it and Mike’s not the man to moan at. if you believe Sony have broken the law then take it to your solicitors.

Im not updateing my console either

seeing as sony think its cool to steal from me i think i’ll wait it out and see what Mr Hotz does, then maybe i’ll get my chance to steal off sony

you know, if your going to treat me like a potential thief i might as well act like one

“bad words go here”

lulufeena 1 April, 2010 @ 11:53 am   137

mike when can we expect final fantasy 9? its being announced for japan this friday :P, next week? or a lot later lol

iapetus 1 April, 2010 @ 11:55 am   138

@136: As much as I’m angry at Sony for illegally crippling my hardware, there’s no call to advocate piracy.

x-shaney-x 1 April, 2010 @ 11:57 am   139

I’m betting most people who have a PS3 also have a PC so why do you really need to put another OS on the PS3?

I have linux on my PC so I don’t see any reason why I would want to put it on the PS3

Iv paid for and own over 40 games, piracy isnt my cuppa tea either, but as iv said, If its ok for sony to steal from me, which they have by removeing a feature i paid for and wanted, then i shal not feel guilty for taking something back when i get the chance

feral77 1 April, 2010 @ 12:01 pm   141

Abe’s Oddysee anytime in the future?

Del_007 1 April, 2010 @ 12:03 pm   142

Blimey i tell ya Mike and your team are out to bankrupt poor Del. I said to myself no more buying after i got a crapload of new PS3 games then the PSP promotion comes…Mike, i think you should tell Vodafone their bill is going to Chinatown Wars.

Thanks :p

Have a good easter everyone :D

tom1234321 1 April, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   143

Namco Museum Essentials, does this mean the PS Home space is coming soon too and the items now work in home?

I got the heavy rain DLC with collectors edition and found it to be short but good for something to do ;)

Also any word of a LBP PS3 bundle coming instead of buying them all separately?

Agamer2006 1 April, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   144

Hey Mike, I know this is off topic but im wondering if you could do something for me :)

Could you as someone from the blog to do a blog post based on littlebigplanet every week, just like the sack it to me blog post which is up every week on the US Blog. I think it would be great seeing the new DLC packs and seeing the latest levels

Michelasso 1 April, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   145

Hi Mike,
what’s this thing about the free Dragon Age dlcs? I installed them already! Where they removed?

Akinokaze-FA 1 April, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   146

Is there any update yet on when Castle Crashers will be available in the PSN store? Been playing it with a friend on his 360 and can’t wait till we get it as well.

hyperslug 1 April, 2010 @ 12:11 pm   147

Great update! I’m getting some PSP games for sure :)

But any news on some more true ps1 classics coming soon? (Resident Evil series, Symphony of the night etc.)

Galvanise_ 1 April, 2010 @ 12:11 pm   148

Good update this week.

Can you put in a request for Wild Arms 1 and 2 to be brought to the EU store. Cheers.

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 12:12 pm   149

@139 I am a student and not made of money. Me and my partner between us have a laptop, and linux on the ps3. We used them both for our uni work and needed that as we needed to do work at the sametime. Now we only have 1 between us, and that is not a great situation with our 2 workloads. There were also a lot of other uses which the ps3 linux did.

Just because you didn’t understand why people would want linux on a ps3, doesn’t mean there arent any reasons whatsoever. so with all due respect, it’s really offensive all these (four letter word) people spouting just get a real computer bs.

Darkscorpius 1 April, 2010 @ 12:14 pm   150

Hmmm, pretty sweet update, sure this isn’t a joke with it being the first and all Mike?

I’ll definitely getting the Heavy Rain & Dragon Age DLC, I’m also really tempted to get the three GTA games for my PSP.

NinetyNineNames 1 April, 2010 @ 12:18 pm   151

When will the FIFA World Cup Game 2010 be on store for a demo?

I think the game release date is the 27th of this month.

YipMan86 1 April, 2010 @ 12:19 pm   152

Still no re-customization ticket for White Knight Chronicles.
Iam asking this dam question for 4 weeks now. No, answers yet.
It cant be that hard to put the ticket on the store. That item doesnt even have a 3D model…

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 1:55 pm

Sorry, I haven’t given an answer because I have no information to share.

johnleonhart 1 April, 2010 @ 12:22 pm   153

Thanks for another good update Mike, oh, I ended up getting the complete dlc for Burnout Paradise, you get all the cars, its sweet :D.

Hope you and the family have a good easter :)

No Anarchy: Rush Hour ???

Grannd 1 April, 2010 @ 12:28 pm   155

So FW 3.21 was no April Fools?

I am disappoint. Having to choose between my YDL and PSN is a choice I don’t want to make.

Do I lose the 10 Gigs of space when I update? And will I need to format my hard drive again to get the 10 Gigs back? Because I don’t like losing Linux but I REALLY don’t like losing some of those non-back-up-able savegames.

Ragnarok-NZ 1 April, 2010 @ 12:31 pm   156

This is one fine update Mr.Kebby.
Props to you and the store team.
The only question is, whether or not I can afford to purchase most of these great games released today, and those delicious price reductions for the PSP.

The only thing that could make this day more epic, is if you had some info on Silent Hill shattered memories, and Crisis Core.. *hint hint*

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 1:56 pm

I don’t have any information regarding either of those titles I’m afraid.

waypoetic 1 April, 2010 @ 12:31 pm   157

A dynamic theme for Warhawk? What is this, why all the love for Warhawk and why so god damn late?! The game came out 3 years ago…

iapetus 1 April, 2010 @ 12:33 pm   158

@139: The PS3 is connected to the big screen TV, which makes it better as a media player, and having access to a fully featured web browser on the TV is also kind of nice at times.

TheHappyTurtle 1 April, 2010 @ 12:36 pm   159

LMAO, the 3.21 patch has already been circumvented, you can now bypass the update and log onto the store :)

KylieDog 1 April, 2010 @ 12:42 pm   160

Hey Mike I hope you still reading these comments.

I have a serious concern with bundle packs.

I wanted to the buy the Street Fighter IV costume bundle while it was on sale for £4.79.

My problem is I bought the SFIV collector’s Edition which came with a code for just 1 costume pack (brawler pack).

Because I own this single piece of DLC I cannot buy the bundles, I know this is because Sony do not want people accidently buying twice but this is really punishing me and I am sure other people.

To buy the other 4 packs (5 total) will cost me over £13!!!

Please please please when you put these bundle packs on sale put the individual items on sale too. If you reduced the price down to £1 each the other 5 costume packs would have cost the same as the bundle in the sale.

Anyway to make this happen? I really want those costumes you you cannot expect me to pay near triple for them because i got one with my CE copy.

(This isn’t the only example of the bundles causing people to lose out…ironic since they meant to benefit people)

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 2:05 pm

You do indeed raise a good point, and it’s something for me to feedback to publishers when they want to reduce pricing for a complete bundle, the individual packs should be considered too.

    Thanks for the feedback :)

Hiya Kebster,

Nice update. Free LBP stuff? Sweet.

Any idea when Castle Crashers is coming?

Great update Mike! Must’ve been those dumplings from yesterday ;)

appie17 1 April, 2010 @ 12:54 pm   163

OMG, i got outrun for the full price 2 days ago. Still possible to get it for the special offer?

Good update, do you know when Ridge Racer 1 and 2 are coming to the EU playstation store? I think Ridge Racer 1 is on the US store.

Zverikk 1 April, 2010 @ 1:12 pm   168

Penny Arcade bundle not available in Russia? Why, we have both episodes in PSN store!

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 2:05 pm

I’m looking into this now, and hopefully we’ll get this rectified sooner rather than later. Thanks for pointing this out ;)

Bonyman 1 April, 2010 @ 1:13 pm   169

i’ve got so many great games to play i won’t be updating my firmware straight away.

KylieDog 1 April, 2010 @ 1:14 pm   170

@chicken14

The 360 has timed exclusivity on MW2 map packs, you won’t see them for a long time.

Roxas598 1 April, 2010 @ 1:16 pm   171

the warhawk theme is live search for it and its free!

thanks for the free theme :P

rossthebassist 1 April, 2010 @ 1:24 pm   173

Hey mike, been a while since i posted anything but with the egg season upon us i thought id say.
1, Happy Easter
2, Great Update, my psp go is pleased

3, and most importantly. Any update on the store layout getting a change to be more like the USA store layout, you know with Games, Demo’s, And Game Add On’s being truley seperated. Even if its just in the games menu itself, you know where we have minis PSone classics then our generes, even if the demo catagory was just put in there.

you once said, this kind of change cant happen over night. well its been a fair few nights now, and we would really appreciate an update on this front.

im not digging, but our layout is still the only thing (apart from psone content) that bugs me about my otherwise awsome EU store.

thanks in advanced Mike.

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 2:06 pm

No update to mention on your third question I’m afraid.

    Have a great Easter :)

Jonsaan 1 April, 2010 @ 1:24 pm   174

Thanks.

AaronSOLDIER 1 April, 2010 @ 1:37 pm   181

Any idea about a release for The Secret of Monkey Island yet? (the first one).

Great update, thanks again!

tompain 1 April, 2010 @ 1:39 pm   182

“What song is it you wanna hear?”

“Free Bird!”

Sweet :D Wish I played Roc Band now as the JHE pack looks awesome too

Splutterbug 1 April, 2010 @ 1:40 pm   183

Tempted by Gunstar Heroes at that price, and I’ll have a look at Sam and Max but it’s a lot of money for a pre-order with no demos or reviews, I think I’ll hold off,

Just a shame Sony’s downgrade of consoles wasn’t an April Fools joke, another feature bites the dust,

“PS3 It just does a little bit less the longer it’s out”

Ownage95 1 April, 2010 @ 1:42 pm   184

People who are moaning at the Linux thing… GO CRY SOME MORE!

Good update mike, have a cracking Easter! *get the joke?*

tidyboy0558 1 April, 2010 @ 1:43 pm   185

I’m sorry that I can no longer buy things in ya store, Mike. I rather keep my Linux.

HarryTheHaddock 1 April, 2010 @ 1:43 pm   186

When can we expect to see this update on the store?

Thanks!

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 1:48 pm

Bah, it’s coming, it’s coming, just some teething problems today :(

TheHappyTurtle 1 April, 2010 @ 1:50 pm   187

@183

Pretty simple-minded of you there, we have a genuine complaint and Sony aren’t doing anything about it. So we have to resort to writing here and contacting the relevant authorities (Trading Standards here in the UK)

HarryTheHaddock 1 April, 2010 @ 1:50 pm   188

Good’o!

Im sitting here with my decks set ready to drop some Jay Z V Eminem!

: D

dgnfly 1 April, 2010 @ 1:51 pm   189

why not make a fair trade we get cross-game chat and you guys can cut off linux and then everybody’s happy considering cross-game chat is more popular than linux

Permanent Price Reductions

* Inferno Pool (was – £6.29/€7.99 now – £2.39/€2.99

How long will this last? as Tv show king had a permanent price reduction to £5.49 now it’s gone bk up + £1 to £7.99

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 2:19 pm

TV Show King should be permanent too, that’s my error there – rectifying it now.

xchris2008x 1 April, 2010 @ 1:55 pm   192

And a really good update this week btw

Thanks mike and the ps store team :)

dgnfly 1 April, 2010 @ 1:56 pm   193

aeonlord92 1 April, 2010 @ 1:57 pm   194

gheywood 1 April, 2010 @ 1:59 pm   195

xchris2008x 1 April, 2010 @ 2:03 pm   196

rossthebassist 1 April, 2010 @ 2:05 pm   197

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 2:19 pm

EmpireNO 1 April, 2010 @ 2:14 pm   198

Very nice update Mike, keep up the good work.

Outrun Arcade Online
Gunstar Heroes
TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled
Inferno Pool

….

and I can´t buy em cause my PS3 won´t go online unless I won´t use OtherOS >.<

Not that my PS3 broke 4 times in 2009 (got it exchanged for free, but hat to wait 1month each for it to arrive…) but now they also begin to take features from me. What`s next guys, Geohot finds another bug in your system and you gonna delete that feature too? Til PS3 can´t do everything, PS3 can do nothing it will say beginning of 2011 in your TV Spots?

When is DOA Paradise hitting the store?

JOY_101 1 April, 2010 @ 2:41 pm   206

Hi Mike,
Great Update! Thanks for the PSP offers, I recently got a PSP Go (like a week ago). I wanted to know about the Go Rewards because I applied for the PSP Go offers for some time ago and I haven’t got my code. I am getting a PSN card for easter, so I love this update. P.S. Have A Great Easter!

crusher915 1 April, 2010 @ 2:42 pm   207

still waiting for Dead Nation, the guys are giving no new information about it, so i don’t know when to expect it.

jimbawb 1 April, 2010 @ 2:46 pm   208

I’m going to disconnect my PS3 until this gets sorted one way or another. Don’t want my girlfriend accidently updating to 3.21 (is that a countdown?). Really wish this wasn’t happening. Does any one know whether it’s just the install option which is being removed or will a pre-installed linux also disappear?

madjock-UK_SCO 1 April, 2010 @ 2:46 pm   209

Why to go on the Chains of Olympus price reduction same I can’t download it for free as I already have it on UMD. I hope the DLC for GoW3 is as epic as the game itself.

madjock-UK_SCO 1 April, 2010 @ 2:49 pm   210

@207

I could be wrong but I believe it is being removed to prevent hacking so I would imagine that any current Linux installs will be unavailable

Diablo_Rosso 1 April, 2010 @ 3:02 pm   211

Hi Mike, any idea when we’ll be seeing The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition on the store?

smokeypsd 1 April, 2010 @ 3:02 pm   212

@207, according to Sony as of today, OTHER OS DOES NOT EXIST. Whether you’ve installed it or not, doesn’t matter. The space you’ve used doesn’t even join the harddrive again, it just is lost, and sits there, like an obese giant in the corner.

vonhammer 1 April, 2010 @ 3:04 pm   213

Don’t mean to sound ungrateful but there’s nothing again (dont have PsP).I’m starting to get worried by the lack of demo’s since just cause 2.

ArjanNL 1 April, 2010 @ 3:05 pm   214

Mike,

I wanted to download the Heavy Rain DLC from the Dutch store, but it says in the description that it’ll only work with a BCES-00797 disc. I’ve bought my copy of Heavy Rain from a large Dutch retailer and my disc has a different code: BCES-00458. So Dutch retailers are selling the UK and EU version of Heavy Rain, but the DLC from the Dutch store is only compatible with the EU version?

Darlo-Richie 1 April, 2010 @ 3:09 pm   215

Is Sam and Max like Monkey Island, if it is then count me as interested!

Speaking of Monkey Island, when is that coming to the PSN store? I’m desperate to get it downloaded to my PS3!

tetsuwwwww 1 April, 2010 @ 3:12 pm   216

WHAT A SHAME

MORE THAN 800 REPLIES TO THE NEW FIRMWARE POST BLOG AND NO ANSWERS.

and to keep everybody’s mouth quite you drop this update that looks the best for weeks, well, i’m not updating, so that means i won’t spend money on the store or in on-line capable games

what sony did is ilegall in spain and, you will see it in a few weeks when the office of customers will make sony pay for this

what a shame, no answers for any comment on the DOWNGRADE blog post..

BlackZam 1 April, 2010 @ 3:46 pm   225

Still no apology for the leap year bug or the now removed possibility of running Linux on the old PS3.

Please add features instead of take them away and give us something that makes the xbox360 fanboys green of envy.

Captain-Ultima 1 April, 2010 @ 3:51 pm   226

Oh my GOD!
Namco Museum Essentials! finally, after all this time.
Does this mean we will get the home space too?

No Linux, no sales.

Hi Mike

Will we be getting the Kick-Ass Game on the 15th April like America? If not then when?

I saw the moive yesterday and it is awesome!!! I highly recommend you see it!

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 4:22 pm

Not sure on date just yet.

I’ll be seeing the film this weekend; read the comic ages ago and loved it! Also have a mug at work now with the immortal Hit-Girl line on it (I think you know the one I mean) :D

:(

ProphetOfRage 1 April, 2010 @ 5:02 pm   230

@203

Don’t go crawling to Mike. In my opinion he shouldn’t have given you such a surly reply. He would do well to remember that although a lot of people on here are kids, they are also his customers.

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 5:42 pm

I don’t believe there was any hint of me being surly in my response to him at all, and I’m well aware that people here posting are customers.

Goonboy 1 April, 2010 @ 5:04 pm   231

Mike, my good man, do you know when the High Stakes Poker trophy patch will be hitting these shores? thanks

    Mike Kebby 1 April, 2010 @ 5:42 pm

I don’t have any information I’m afraid, I’ll see what I can find out, but it won’t be until after Easter now, because it’s hometime! :P

    Have a great Easter everyone!!

ProphetOfRage 1 April, 2010 @ 5:11 pm   232

On an unrelated note since there are no threads proclaiming the removal of the alternative operating system option, Mike what compensation can us original PS3 owners expect for this removal of a main feature?

By the way if your worried about piracy why don’t or didn’t you have a word with your own bosses? I seem to remember David Reeves all but saying to customers to pirate PSP films and games if they want.

They need better servers for updates.

Akinokaze-FA 1 April, 2010 @ 6:54 pm   252

I see that the metal sonic add-on was removed due to a reschedualing of the release, any info on when we will actually be getting it?

Also, any info on when Castle Crashers will be released in the store?

There is a right way and a wrong way to go about business. Sony certainly fit into the ‘wrong’ category.

However, whilst we may not be able to strike now, our time will come and when that time comes we will strike with ravenous fury and drawnout hunger for the taste of a former giants blood.

Basically, Sony have basically spent this generation trying to rip p off or pee off as many of its customers as posible. So when PS4 is released Sony will have so few people to buy it. It will be laughable.

Back to Gears of War 2.

Go back to Gears of War 2. Pirated game? Probably. Won’t happen on the PS3 and i’m happy about that.

Well. My PlayStation 3 killed itself rather than take the step backwards that is FW 3.21. So no games, no downloads, no ANYTHING for me… just a YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH. Well, Green -> Yellow -> Flashing Red.

This is the 4th time this has happened to my PS3, and when I contacted Sony they made me feel like it was my fault. I must have played it too much. How foolish of me to expect a £425 console to last longer than 2 years.

Today, I feel that between my £425 console, my 60 disc games and my copious amounts of DLC, and the idiotic step of FE3.21, I have wasted a lot of time and money on Sony and got nowt back but disrespect.

Rubbish store update anyway so I won’t miss that. BUT I DO MISS MY PS3 :(

Pillsy 1 April, 2010 @ 11:48 pm   258

For anyone moaning about Linux in this blog post:

Take it to relevant blog posts, Mike has said it’s not appropriate to comment so moaning about it here only makes you look ignorant of previous posts.

I understand the annoyance but there is a right way to go about things and a wrong way and by moaning in the wrong place that’s the wrong way.

I feel bad now, I said I’d say no more on the Other OS issue but I feel that if the people who are upset want their voice heard they need to be wary of people who drown out legitimate grievances petty comments.

So come on guys, Mike isn’t the guy who made the call so give him a break and take it elsewhere.

Because your lovely folks who just stole from MILLIONS of your customers to stop a FEW of them POTENTIALLY stealing from you in the future… If you guys are too good to respond in the posts announcing that you are thieves then well, Ill start bringing the conversation into other postings. Sound good? Ok thanks guys, not letting this one go without making other people aware what kind of company Sony is apparently.

Musoka_Eimin 2 April, 2010 @ 12:09 am   261

Mike may not have been responsible, matter of fact I bet nobody other than a top couple 3 guys who make millions or billions for themselves decided it. I wouldn’t be surprised if people like Mike aren’t ashamed that they have to be part of a company that does that. You want us to keep it in an appropriate area huh? Well Mike tell someone who CAN make a difference that theres more than 5,000 comments on the North America blog that is just disappearing that noone from Sony will look at or comment to, so why should I continue to scream in an empty room. Sony is the one who with the update asked computer programming students like myself whether we would like Sony to shoot us in the arm or in the leg. Not a happy choice to make.

Wow, Mike, sounds like an interesting update. Lots of new games to go for! Shame that I can’t purchase any of them without losing functions on the PS3 that you advertised and I paid for.

Tell me, if I purchase some of these cool sounding new games, and “security concerns” are later raised, will Sony steal them back from me?

LiquidSolid 2 April, 2010 @ 4:04 am   264

Hey Mike,

You probably aren’t following the replies anymore but could you guys put the f’n game name in the titles? The only way to actually find out what game the ‘Feastday Gifts/Pranks’ DLC is for is by selecting them then scrolling down the info part until Dragon Age shows up.

I’m not sure why you can’t put the game title in all the DLC names, I somehow doubt it’d take much time.

great update, at the best time of the year too ;)
anyway we really need some more ps1 classics on the store, the old ape escape games, and the old loony tunes games would be awsome on the PSN.
get them ready and pop them on there and theres a nice juicy check for ya!

anyway, slightly OT but mike, do you have any idea whats happening with the GOW3 unearthing the legend documentary?
i picked up my copy of the ultimate edition and the guy at EB gave me the playstation site to enter my code, did so and after that received a message saying that i would receive my new code within 7 days.
3 weeks later and still nothing.

“Heavy Rain – Chronicle One: The Taxidermist (£3.19/€3.99)
Rating: PEGI 18
Availability: All locales” – [DELETED]
I got Heavy Rain from Amazon.co.uk, I live in Ireland, and I use Irish PSN. I bought that DLC yesterday and it doesn’t work, because my copy of the game is not compatible with the copies of the game available in Ireland. the funniest thing is, that the ONLY difference between them is the BLES number on the cover. everything else is exactly the same (including no possibility to choose other than English language in the menu – even with the option to choose the language available).
that is ridiculous. I expect, that if the game is in English version and I buy a DLC from Irish PSN it will work with no further problems and no need to check anything. if that problem is not solved, SCEE will not see any of my money in the future – I will stick to SCEA, which always works with no problems whatsoever (not to mention it is cheaper in 99% of the cases).

Sialala 2 April, 2010 @ 1:20 pm   267

Sony – you are doing everything to lose your customers.

first this 3.21 downgrade, which caused me losing 10GB of the HDD space (funniest thing is, that during the update, there was a suggestion to “format HDD in order to get access to 10GB space reserved for OtherOS” – and what about over 30 GB of games bought from PSN, not to mention another 50GB of demos? do I really HAVE TO buy external HDD to downgrade my console and not to lose a space on my HDD?)

now, the problem with DLC, which doesn’t work as it should – and there was no information on the regionalised DLC on the description of the product.

keep on doing that, and next generation will be with Nintendo.

I was interested in this.. Sam and Max: The Devil’s Playhouse

:(

funnydude6556 2 April, 2010 @ 4:06 pm   269

@118

does it even [DELETED] matter, hardly anyone used it anyway and Sony obviously don’t want the PS3 being hacked. I’ve never claimed to know any legal terms nor being a laywer hence why I’m not a laywer and since I’m not about to hire a laywer to argue with you it hardly matters.

it’s one part of the system we still have quite a lot though Sony you should update your ad’s to say “IT ONLY DOES EVERYTHING (EXCEPT THE OTHER OS SYSTEM)

Im loving the discount on the PSP games but i’m still waiting for some news on Media go for Mac so I can actually buy these games… Please sony :( Many Mac users feel left out. Just a reply from a Playstation representative would be really nice.

Final Fantasy IX is now official
As announced earlier in the week, Square Enix expected to see Final Fantasy green lit for the PlayStation Network in both Japan and North American within two days time. Two days later and the famed developer is announcing that Final Fantasy IX has officially been approved for distribution on the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.
