Good day to you there, how are you this week? Well I hope.
I just want to remind you all that our PSP Favourites promotion will be ending today, so you don’t have that much longer to take advantage of those crazy prices, just a mere matter of hours in fact. Speaking of which, if you have an eye on bargains, then please step over to the stall and check out the latest batch of Special Offers with Gravity Crash, Prince of Persia Classic and James Cameron’s Avatar:The Game amongst the shiny wares I have for you
.
I’m sure most of you are aware that this week we finally get the much anticipated episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony onto the store…exciting, I’m sure you’ll agree (they will be available on Friday morning not the usual Thursday publish).
Also, the first episode for the new Sam and Max game The Devil’s Playground is available for those who pre-ordered. If you didn’t pre-order don’t worry though, as you can download the trial, and then buy the full season entitlement if you’d like to continue their adventures (the full season entitlement will also still be available on the store separately from the trial too).
Finally, because I am such a massive fan of System of a Down, and their brilliant frontman Serj Tankian, I have to mention that there are Two Rock Band tracks available from Mr. Tankian’s incredible solo album. I urge you Rock Banders out there to get downloading these awesome tracks, and if you don’t like them, then there’s no accounting for taste is there? I jest, I jest.
To finish, some housekeeping: please be advised the store management team is not actually in the office today or tomorrow, so I won’t be around to respond to your comments. Therefore please don’t be offended by my silence, this is just because I am not here, not because I am ignoring you.
Enjoy your week, and have a great weekend!

Brilliant update, Mike!
The Skate 3 demo is definitely worth checking out, along with the Sam & Max trial. Also, the addition of new avatars is good, but I’m not really a fan of EyePet. Then of course, there are the GTA episodes tomorrow, which will keep me occupied for a long time.

why is gta more expensive in euro’s than it is in pounds?
£14 converts to €16.. not €18

***** WARNING ******
MONOPOLY is the american board. I went ahead and purchased it for £3.99 assuming as its in the UK store, it would be the UK board with PALL MALL and MAYFAIR etc, but it is not.
I will be deleting this game straight away as I simply can’t stand playing monopoly on a non UK board. I grew up with it.
VERY disappointed.

I know this is probably stupid, but with the GTA episodes will I need the GTA4 disc to play them?
If I do will just have to buy the disc. Cheers!

Posted on 15 April, 2010 at 5:15 pm by dgnfly
if i recall you do if your downloading from PSN and you don’t if you buy the disc version for the DLC but not sure
159
Posted on 15 April, 2010 at 5:18 pm by poultee
thanks dgnfly, will just buy the episodes disc then tomorrow.

in other words your cheaper off buying disc version
161
Posted on 15 April, 2010 at 5:22 pm by dgnfly
Some DLC is like a rip off the disc verion off grand theft auto 4 is cheaper and you get more out off it just like the fallout 3 DLC you paid more money for DLC than you would ever buying the GOTY edition
i don’t even know why they bother putting this stuff on psn they should look at pricing a lot better instead off playing us off like stupid

Out of all the games mentioned here, Sam & Max is the one I’m most definitely NOT be buying. Not that it’s a bad game, on the contrary. It’s just that I don’t feel like paying twice for an adventure game I’m only going to play once.

final fight? oh the memories… i would love to get that but 10€ for two 15+ year old games that should be priced like minis and should be separated… don’t think so, since i only want final fight…
164
Posted on 15 April, 2010 at 6:15 pm by MobileTone
laughs at GTAIV DLC, dayum, i’m paying less than that for the stand alone pack.
it’s good but about 2yrs too late.

YES oddworld finally!!!
Was beginning to worry that it was not coming to europe with the us versions being released 6 months ago.
Any news when abe’s exodus will be hitting the store?

Hot damn that is one impressive update. I’ll be picking up Gravity Crash and Prince of Persia for sure, but a lot of the other stuff there is a real bargain, most especially Astonishia Story and Mega Drive Collection on PSP.
Pricing on Final Fight however is decidely LESS impressive. That should have been around the £6.25 price point at most, £7.99 is a step too far for what you get.
Very pleased overall though, especially now PSN 20 quid cards are dirt cheap if you look around(I gather we’ve all heard that you can get two of them from Zavvi for 29 quid using the code APRIL2 by this point, yes?).

If you get anything, get Abe’s Oddysee. Truly ahead of its time and holds up just as well today. Incredibly immersive, incredibly relevant and incredibly…odd. Fronted by Mr Lanning, one of the greatest creative minds in gaming. I hope strong sales of the game will give him the necessary encouragement to get him back into the creative business. It feels less odd without him.

@post 161
Some people only want 1 DLC (like me) I don’t mind paying 20€ for 1 DLC that I want instead of 30€ for 1 that I want and another one that I don’t care or will consider playing

Finally, another real PS1 Classic! That’s always a good thing, but on the downside, at this rate we’ll have all the remaining classics that US store have by the end of 2020. Legacy of Kain series, Tomb Raider series, Resident Evil series, and much much more…
Btw, still waiting for Williams Pinball Classics.

>> GTA DLC £13.99 seems a bit steep to me as the the USA
>> store it’s only $20 not sure what the current exchange
>> rate is but it can’t be that bad surely ;-( but i’ll
>> will get it just not yet ;-(
20/1.54 + 17.5% vat = £15.26
anyhoo.. does anybody know the file size for the first play episodes?. 30mins at 720p, i’m guessing they’re probably around 700-800mb?

Ghostbusters, which was £14.99 for the PSP, came down to £9.99 for the favourties promotion but has now actually gone UP to £19.99!
Who does this pricing, it’s just so totally RANDOM!

Post 172:
I can’t see Grandia coming myself, Ubisoft released it in Europe originally and Mike did say that licenses and publishing deals expire after time.
The only hope I can offer is that Ubisoft still have the rights and submit it to SCEE or SCEE pick up the rights themselves.

Annoying that the store says you do need GTAIV for the new episodes. Not for me personally as much as I do still own GTAIV (though can anyone who’s bought the episodes tell me if you do need the GTAIV disc in there? I’d rather just run it all off the hard drive with no disc swapping needed as I often just leave Uncharted 2 in the blu ray drive) but the only friend I know I’d play online doesn’t have GTAIV on his PS3 having owned it for Xbox360 before switching to PS3. If they run on their own he said he’d buy the new episodes. Maybe the disc version runs without GTAIV.

How can you announce GTA IV DLC (Way too late to garner any respectable sales figures..Sorry RockM$tar) and System Of a Down (De La Rocha, Cornell, Maynard James, Fallon and more are better than Serj bloody Tankian) and not mention Abes Oddysee?
Oddworld Inhabitants were one of the last true innovators in gaming..Yet they pull out of game-making, and now we have guys like Infinity Ward (Massively overhyped droll FPS’s) EA (Swallow any successful company) Sega (Imports come with cut content) and Bethesda (Glitched, near-broken games) filling shelves with cliched games and damn carbon-copy shooters.
All hail Oddworld Inhabitants!!!
