‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (22nd April 2010)

So, hope you didn’t miss me too much last week…how ever did you cope? :-)

I’m pleased to say that we’ve got three new PS3 games available this week; from gun-tootin’ gunslingers in Lead and Gold – Gangs of the Wild West, to furry domesticated animals running riot in Hamsterball Unleashed, to high-speed arcade action in After Burner Climax…a little something for everyone, and for all those hamster owning fighter-pilots with dreams of wandering the prairies hunting outlaws, you’re especially well served this week.

I’m also going to remind you that the brand new mini Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess! is available, and that the next batch of additional content for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, the Siege Expansion Pack is here too. Add in a mix of new demos, add-ons and various other bits and pieces and that rounds up this week’s update. What, you want more information? Then scroll down for the full list.

From the 5th of May the store will change the weekly update day to Wednesday, so be prepared to reconfigure your week around this monumental event!

Also, have you noticed the blog survey that went up this week? Why don’t you have a gander and provide your feedback, it’s useful for us to gauge your thoughts…but don’t forget to mention how much you love the store, the updates, and of course your ever loving friend, me. :)

As I’m back, that means I’ll be monitoring the comments this week as usual, so give us a shout and I’ll respond to what I can.

Cheers.

Not a lot for PSP this week. Just as well I just bought myself a DSi XL.

Any news on when LEGO Indy 2 might arrive for PSP

Ok now I actually read it, yay for Lost Planet 2 demo, been waiting for that.

Could you/are you allowed to say if there will be an Uncharted 2 bundle with all DLCs in the next few weeks? Pre-TY for any reply.

Welcome back Disney :D

AcidCrashX 22 April, 2010 @ 12:04 pm   4

Great update this week mate, hope to see you on Uncharted 2 this weekend ;)

take it easy

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:06 pm

I wish I could, but I lent my copy to a mate, and he’s still hanging on to it…

GahLakTus 22 April, 2010 @ 12:05 pm   5

hi ill copy paste last weeks coment since u wernt here to answer, plus ill update it a tad

hey wanna say great update

cant wait for some sam and max time!!

a few questions/suggestions here.

1-why is the gta add ons so expensive, tht works out so the disk version is CHEAPER despite the disk version, having a disk, case book etc AND not needing the gta4 game.

2-any word on the monkey island games release dates?

3-(just puttn this in for funs sake lol) wens resi evil 1,2,3 cumin to store? lol

and ma suggestions :P

1- any chance of a dynamic theme, featureturing the background to the main menu of god of war 3? it would kick sooo much ass.

2-god of war avatars? :P

3-any chance of a “coming soon” section or having pre orders in sed section? as i (as most other people) are sometimes skint by time the games they WANT come out.

tar much

J

updated part:

according to the comic store update guys this is a question for YOU and not them./

when will the europe store see the arkham asylum prequal comic?

the us store got it a few weeks back and id like to get it.

also any chance o tmnt game cuming back down in price at some point? as it went back up in price the day i got paid.

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:10 pm

    Too much text…aaargh ;)

I know the release dates, but I’m not sure I can share them yet, so won’t.

GTA pricing is determined by the publisher – but digital pricing is aimed at meeting the retail pricing, however if retailers want to undercut that pricing, there’s nothing we can really unless the publisher decides to lower the pricing down the line.

There wouldn’t be a coming son section no, as it wouldn’t link to any store content, so it doesn’t really service a purpose in our mind.

As for Arkham Asylum prequel comic, we don’t have a listing for this, I’ll try and look into it though.

Dave-The-Rave 22 April, 2010 @ 12:05 pm   6

I’ll be getting the UNCHARTED DLC, episode 3 of Firstplay and maybe M(P)SMP.

Also while I’m here and you weren’t last week, I was wondering if you guys could work a bit harder at getting us more Avatars more frequently. I REALLY want some Final Fantasy Avatars, if you could work out a deal with Square Enix that would be great !!

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:11 pm

It’s down to our publishers to provide avatars, but we are frequently requesting them for various titles, so hopefully soon we’ll see a lot more released. As for 1st party ones, we are working on more, but I don’t have specifics just yet.

Kind of rubbish this week Keb.

Give us a little hint of some inside info to make it a bit better.

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:12 pm

Gotta disagree with you there Aurain, I think there’s some good stuff this week, but then again you’re bound to think I would say that, even though I have been playing some of this stuff this week and enjoying it :)

belmont_gr 22 April, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   8

After Burner Climax for me this week. I am a fan of the series.

Any news on upcoming PSP rpg games?

AcidCrashX 22 April, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   9

JESUS! O_O UNBOUND SAGA IS 3.99!? sold :D

Yay!

Another PS Disney Classic, I was wondering when we’d see some more of them ;-)

Not much for me this week, maybe Megadrive Classics. Hoping to see some more of the psp back catalogue up soon.

betahoven 22 April, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   11

Can’t really complain at three new PSN games and a few demos. Must admit I was hoping for Monkey Island though.

Good update this week.

I was hoping for Monkey Island this week. As HOME has the costumes and the apartment and the MAC got the gamea few days ago.

So Mike any idea on when we will see it?

and any idea of Grandia as well?

Miss2912 22 April, 2010 @ 12:08 pm   13

Uncharted 2!Uncharted 2!Uncharted 2!YEAHHH!

I’m sure you get asked this on a regular basis but, will the original Resident Evil be coming to the store? If so, do you have any dates?
Keep up the good work!

mattshill 22 April, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   15

@6

The price of the DLC is nothig to do with Sony, Take Two set the price.

PirateDave 22 April, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   16

Lead and Gold has me intrigued, but I’m going to hold off buying straight away incase no one else gets it, just like what happened with fat princess.

Any news on Dead Nation? It’s slated for a Q1 2010 release and unless they’re following the financial calendar Q1′s over…

Guillemots 22 April, 2010 @ 12:10 pm   17

Nothing for me this week :8
I already have Lost Planet Multiplayer Demo.
Ok, time to finish Metal Gear Solid 3!
Cheers Mike :)

Burning_Out 22 April, 2010 @ 12:10 pm   18

After Burner :D :D :D

Might pick up Lead and Gold, although is it online only or does it have a single player game too?

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:14 pm

It’s online only, but it seems like good fun, I played some maps the other day with bots. I’m a sucker for western based games :)

Ragnarok-NZ 22 April, 2010 @ 12:10 pm   19

Not much for the PSP this week [which is actually a good thing considering how much I've spent on PSP titles alone this month] but the Uncharted 2 pack and Lead & Gold seem interesting.
Will it be an early update today as well Mike?

djax-djax 22 April, 2010 @ 12:11 pm   20

Extremely bad update for PSP :-(…

BTW still not Williams Pinball PSP on the PSN…

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:15 pm

As I’ve said before djax-djax we’re looking like a few weeks yet for Williams Pinball.

amplifiedAnt 22 April, 2010 @ 12:11 pm   21

“VIDEOS

Neir Launch Trailer”

Isn’t it spelt Nier? Do I get a prize? :P

poor poor poor

Carnivius_Prime 22 April, 2010 @ 12:12 pm   23

Uncharted 2 DLC is what I want. Best game ever and I’ve loved all the updates.

Also why can’t Premium Avatars be a weekly thing? Surely they don’t take much work to do and can get Sony a nice lil extra bit of cash. Got Super Street Fighter IV out soon so would be nice to see avatars of all the characters in that.

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:17 pm

I’d love them to be available every week, and as I’ve mentioned earlier we are doing what we can to poke people to release them more frequently. But as with everything, there is a process, and without going into the details, it’s not just as simple as uploading an image to the store ;)

At what time will the store be updated today?

Also Another Disney game for PSone to download?
Come on, you guys are sitting on first party classics.
Thanks for Abe’s oddysee last week though

funkpower 22 April, 2010 @ 12:13 pm   25

Lead and Gold – Gangs of the Wild West (£11.99/€14.99) Rating: PEGI 16

Oh well. was going to purchase, but not at that price!

hyperslug 22 April, 2010 @ 12:13 pm   26

Are there any more non-Disney classics coming soon?

I think Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess! will be my first Minis purchase. It looks really good in the trailer on Youtube.

NomadicWulf 22 April, 2010 @ 12:15 pm   28

Still no word on the Flower soundtrack?

HiddenAway 22 April, 2010 @ 12:15 pm   29

Ooh, Uno. Quite expensive though :-(

For your tri-weekly challenge, any news on these?

DJ Max Fever
Strikers 1945 Plus
Gunbird 2 Remix
Williams Pinball Classics

As ever, thanks in advance :-)

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:19 pm

As ever HiddenAway I have visibility on titles, but until the publishers share details themselves I won’t be saying anything :)

mike whats with the price hikes . premium themes were £1.19 now theyre £1.59 and the ps1 games were £3.99 now £5.19 . i think we already pay more than enough without more added cmon dude

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:20 pm

It’s down to the publishers seany1…they decide what to price their content at.

jimmy-google 22 April, 2010 @ 12:16 pm   31

Mike, any idea how well the PSP Favourites promotion went and any news of whether there is another one in the pipeline? I’ll need to save some money for it as the last went set me back so much.

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:22 pm

I’m delving into the results now…but I’m not going to let you all know that, I’m much more secretive than that. Nice try though ;)

I’m not adverse to running something similar again, it just has to make sense really, and that’s what the analysis I’ll be looking at will help me determine, what we may do in the future.

Are we getting the MLB.tv app that was announced today in the US? it would be really nice to have i can finally watch my baseball games through my TV.

Mike, Mike,

I had a nervous breakdown after getting a new deck of cards yesterday.
Some were round, some were oblong and some were rectangle.

I just couldn’t handle it. :D

AaronSOLDIER 22 April, 2010 @ 12:16 pm   34

Mike, Abes Oddysee from last week after installation has the American cover on the XMB, I know its a small thing but could you guys fix this? Thanks.

phantomfish 22 April, 2010 @ 12:17 pm   35

Any idea which Monkey Island we will be getting since you can’t mention release dates? I’ve heard Monkey Island 2 and some say the original.

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:24 pm

We’re getting replicas of the actual island, it’ll be delivered to you if you purchase it off the store via snail-mail.

To give you a serious answer, I’ll see what I may be able to confirm and perhaps come back with some real details ;)

StefNighthawk 22 April, 2010 @ 12:17 pm   36

Half Minute Hero for Belgium/Netherlands?

I think the “Neir” video is typo.

Splutterbug 22 April, 2010 @ 12:21 pm   38

oooh Afterburner, quite tempted to buy that blind

Mike, any reason why Lead and Gold isn’t on the AU or NZ store? Will it be appearing next week? Was really keen to play this over the weekend!

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:26 pm

Not sure of the reason, but it wasn’t submitted for release by the publisher.

GahLakTus 22 April, 2010 @ 12:22 pm   40

thanks for the feedback. id really like that arkham prequal tho :P

and im assuming monkey island is but a stones throw(thats right im bringing the phrase back) away from being released as the home costumes etc are out today?

so how was ur week away from us then mike?

and are you as EXCITED as me for MARVEL VS CAPCOM3????

i nearly passed out when i heard the news/saw the trailer….but for real. chris redfield could NEVER take on the hulk….he could possible take on the MARVEL ZOMBIES but then his skills stop :P

AaronSOLDIER 22 April, 2010 @ 12:22 pm   41

Oh and any news regarding Disneys best game: Toy Story 2?

BlackMage3 22 April, 2010 @ 12:22 pm   42

I was ready to buy Monkey Island today, guess not then…

so who makes those static themes then mike , i guess dynamic themes will be getting bumped up in price now too . i tell you keep this nickle and diming up and you will lose valuable store customers . disgrace

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:28 pm

They’re from various 3rd party publishers, the only ones we produce are for our own franchises/titles.

Mike,

Is there a possiblity to show some more info about the diferent BLES codes that are compatible with DLC?
I buy a lot of games in the UK but from what I hear sometimes the DLC from the Dutch store might not work.

If this is not your job, could you please pass it on to the people that handle the descriptions of DLC?

Thanks :-)

Decent update. Mike. please can you try and get Crisis Core on the store thanks.

Glycerin_NL 22 April, 2010 @ 12:24 pm   46

Lead and Gold – Gangs of the Wild West (£11.99/€14.99) Rating: PEGI 16
Availability: Not available in Australia, Belgium, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal and Russia

Why not in Holland?

Opt1mus76 22 April, 2010 @ 12:24 pm   47

Nice update.

Lead & Gold, Afterburner and Hamsterball! Expensive week with Uncharted 2 Siege pack too

Lead & Gold will keep my gunslinging urges under control till Red Dead Redemption and Uncharted 2 pack until MW2 Maps at least ;)

Any word on R-Type Delta, Legacy of Kain or Resident Evil PS1 games coming to PSN yet?

CinderShadow 22 April, 2010 @ 12:25 pm   48

Only in America? Not again, please. http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=9027714
Class of Heroes should be localised this time, now it’s being made for PS3. This style of game is ideal for PSN.

Any word about a demo of Afterburner?

I’m a bit reluctant to pay £8 for a single player game with no network support or offline multiplay. Coupled with a reported 15 min playthrough time…..Hmm

Might wait for a permanent price reduction on this one.

    Mike Kebby 22 April, 2010 @ 12:30 pm

    Not sure about a demo.

Let me tell you this from experience though…this game is extremely fast, and very frenetically paced. I think it has a lot of replay value though, as you try and attain higher stage completion percentages with every new game.

phantomfish 22 April, 2010 @ 12:25 pm   50

Mike I’m that much of a Monkey Island addict if you did have a replica of it I’d buy it.

I remember that halycon days of playing it on an Atari ST………..
