Greetings again, PlayStation faithful. Scott Hyman from Tik/Creat, dropping by yet again. I hope I’m not catching you at dinner, or breakfast, or while watching Lost or Glee or playing God of War III. But with so much happening here, I just need to keep coming by to tell you what we’re up to.
This time around, I’m happy to let you know how we’ve been listening to you all. We’ve enjoyed the great reaction to Wakeboarding HD, but we understand how some folks like to try before they buy. Sometimes, you want to taste the new flavor of ice cream before you make the purchase, and the same goes for many video games. We’ve read all your emails, and lots of your comments online, and we’ve responded…
TikGames/Creat Studios is proud to offer a free-to-play demo version of Wakeboarding HD in North America and Europe on Thursday, April 29th. Now, you can discover what all the fuss is about by making high-flying jumps, performing insane tricks, and dodging pesky Great White Sharks before purchasing the full game.
We’re confident that after playing the demo, you’ll be craving more. Just like the server behind the ice cream counter, we are more than happy to offer a sample of the latest Tik/Creat flavor. And please stay tuned, as there’s always plenty of new flavors, er… I mean new games to come!
As always, thanks again for everyone’s support. We love making games, and you are the reason why we can do it. Please keep the comments and suggestions coming. As I stated above, we are always reading and listening!

Fair play to you all for doing that….. will definitely check out the demo & if all’s good may even purchase the full product. I struggle to understand why alot of developers don’t offer demos, i’ve bought many games that i didn’t think i’d like purely based on a demo alone, so surely its a win win.
Anyway, thanks

Thanks, Phuquit! We do our best to listen to our customers, and lots of people asked about this one. We’re confident that having a chance to play the game and get a feel for how much fun it is will help players make the choice to buy the full version.

We’re happy to let you try it, s86white. Please drop us a line and let us know how you like it.
What kind of DLC would you like to see?

A demo is good, but, too bad the game is utter [DELETED]. Played it at a friends house and listened to some reviews and fact is : it’s really bad and the pricepoint is way to high considering what the game actually offers in gameplay.

What you meen is sales have dropped off for the game so you’re hoping a demo will get you a few more. I don’t blame you Sony are the ones to blame it should be compulsory to have a demo before any psn game is released.
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 4:25 pm by Scott Hyman
Andycass, I’m very happy to inform you that you’re incorrect in this particular case. The requests for a demo version started pouring to Tik/Creat on the day the game was announced, more so than any of our previous 7 PSN titles. When that many gamers ask us for something, we make sure to listen.

Will do Scott, i dunno yet i need to play it, but from what ive seen maybe some free wakeboard skins, new levels for a SMALL fee :p

Thanks, s86. I’ll pass it along to the development team.

So even though people asked for a demo the day the game was announced you waited till after the full game was released to release the demo. well done for openly admitting that. I’m not having a go at you most PSN game devs hide behind the fact Sony don’t make you release demo’s on or before the release of these games.
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 4:37 pm by Scott Hyman
I understand your point, andycass. Thanks for sharing. As the demand for demos increases, we may doing more. We received requests in the past for demos for Smash Cars and Mushroom Wars, too, which is why we developed those.
Hope you enjoy Wakeboarding HD!

Glad you`re adding a demo. I`ve been reluctant to buy it on the basis of screenshots. Niche titles like this need playable demos to get more players trying something different and perhaps gaining fans too.
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 4:46 pm by Scott Hyman
We hope that you will now be less reluctant, Opt1mus76, and we’re suer that you’ll have fun. Just be aware of the sharks.

I will definitely be downloading this demo tonight. Game looks really good, but I do like to try before I buy. Thank you for listening!

Hold on there, MonkeyBrainsToo! You have to wait until TOMORROW night.
Let us know how you like it, and what else you would like to see.

If you will add some DLC don’t forget to add some trophies. We (players) love this

Tik/Creat is down with the Trophies, BEPfan. We love to develop new Trophies. Thanks for the input.

i certainly hope AE stands for All European
but then again AE in the comic & videostore is doesn’t mean AllEuropean

Great to see there’s a demo for this game now. I already purchased the game a few weeks back but it’s great that more people will be able to enjoy this game now. Wakeboarding HD is definitely one of my favourite PSN Games alongside Magic Orbz, Lead and Gold, Flower and Hamster Ball.
Hopefully there will be some DLC in the future like new missions as it would be awesome to carry on the fun experience with the game.
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 4:56 pm by Scott Hyman
Thanks, Deak-in!
So, tell us, as someone who has been playing for a little while… what DLC would you like to see?

Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 4:48 pm by CodeMonkey_UK
@S-Cript:
AE stands for ‘United Arab Emirates’ unless i’m mistaken.

Hopefully Sony have decided to add PlayStation Move Support to this title, in fact, HAVE SONY DECIDED TO ADD PLAYSTATION MOVE SUPPORT TO THIS TITLE?!?!?! XO
C’MON SONY!!!
PLZZZZZZ XP
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 4:57 pm by Scott Hyman
It would be our decision, too, BalramRules. And, yes, it’s been discussed. A lot.
So, can we take this post as yet another request to add Move support to Wakeboarding HD?

So glad you’ve heard of it now, Erorrless. Give it a try, let us know how you like it, and (*hint, hint*) purchase the full version.

Sorry Scott but you seem desperate to sell the game. You sound like a used car salesman lol.
Btw for anyone who is interessted. This game got a 58 on metacritic so yeah i think i will pass.
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 5:21 pm by Scott Hyman
Oh, Jester! You and I need to hang out more. Maybe we can grab a cup of coffee, or take a long walk in the park, or a drive through the country. I would so hate to have feel like my appreciation for our customers would have me wearing an old, cheap plaid suit and trying to turn the odometer back. (Uh oh… I hope I didn’t upset any used car salesman gamers!)

I still don’t understand why you developers don’t release a demo along the full game. If Microsoft can do it on Xbox Live, then surely Sony can do it for Playstation Network
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 5:23 pm by Scott Hyman
Thanks for the input,LAClennell. I think you’re going to see more of it. We’ve been receiving far more demand for demos. Sony has been gracious enough to leave it up to the publishers, but it appears that publishers are beginning to hear the call. We certainly did for this one.

Hmm, what would I like to see as DLC eh? Maybe different environments similar to the style that Magic Orbz uses. For example you could have a jungle environment just like the new Magic Orbz DLC but you would be riding through a rainforest on a big river, with tropical trees, animals hanging out of the trees, fruit dropping down etc on the side of the river. Then you could have alligators jumping out of the water trying to eat you, like the sharks do in the original game. Would be great fun to play something like that.
22
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 5:25 pm by Scott Hyman
Hmmm… tie Wakeboarding HD and Magic Orbz together? And alligators… now that has serious potential. Alligators could be ramps, too… I’ll make sure the development team gets your suggestions, Deak-in!

Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 5:26 pm by Deak-in
@Jester: If you actually take a look at the reviews on Metacritic there has been a fair few favourable reviews to the game. It’s just because one stupid website *cough* TotalPlaystation *cough* don’t know what a good game is so they rated it at 35 which then brings down the total Metacritic rating of the game.

I downloaded the game a few days ago after seeing the preview video, and have really enjoyed it.
It reminds me of old school skating / bmx games & has a really “arcadey” feel to it.
The price initially seemed quite high, but thinking about it, thanks to the Playstation Store downloads, you can get a game with plenty of replay value which would otherwise have cost £40 as a full retail release just a few years ago.
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 6:12 pm by Scott Hyman
Thanks for the kind words, BACCUS. We were indeed going for an old-school vibe, but with very new-school graphics, and we tried to get in as much replay value as we could. We’re happy that you’re enjoy it.

The thing is,if you ask Mike Kebby about aking for demo’s, all you get is ‘we can’t due to ‘certain’ [by certain add a word to cover up] reason, and that we have to play nice with the developers.
Every Xbox Live arcade title comes with a demo on release day, and the fact that some of the aracde games that both consoles get, the xbox gets a demo and the full game while the PS3 only gets the full game, then possibly the demo later.
What’s up with that? Microsoft don’t seem to have any problems requesting demo’s all the time
27
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 6:19 pm by LAClennell
Truth be told, Demo’s are just as successful as the Full verison

Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 6:26 pm by BACCUSxAETURNUSx
New maps / levels would always be welcome.
- a south American level where the water is pea green, you see ruins from ancient civilisations, poisonous snakes pop up from the water, maybe trees overhanging the water that monkeys swing from that like to kick you off your board etc ?
- a snow / icy level, maybe a beat the clock type game where you are trying to escape from somewhere but the water in front starts freezing if you aren’t quick enough. Alternatively, a standard level, where certain passages are frozen and it becomes really difficult to maintain balance (use balance meter / screen shakes etc).
Any offline multiplayer where you can all do something on the same screen is always fun, but often is limited to football games. Maybe you could do a game similar to Tubin, where you take turns to do a race, and the other players try to sabotage your run.

Wow, great ideas, BACCUS. Thanks so much. I’ll send them along.

I’ll definitely test the demo!
About the DLC: try to combine free DLCs and some DLCs that dont cost a lot, like 3 maps 1,99€-2,99€…. If you want to make the maps free, thats even better…
@Scott Hymna: it is very nice of you to take your time and answer to the most of us here in the blog. If all developers would do the same it would be great!
Can we expect some special offers on your other games? I know you already did special offers for Smash Cars… special offers are always appreciated
Posted on 28 April, 2010 at 8:16 pm by Scott Hyman
Hey, G-M1N111! Thanks so much for the DLC ideas. We are thinking about a lot of different ideas, and suggestions like those carry a lot of weight.
Thanks for appreciating us, but please know that the gratitude is tenfold in the other direction. Getting an opportunity to chat directly with our customers is a huge bonus for us, and we really do relish it. All we really want to do is make the next game better than the last one.
As for Special Offers, I can’t comment about anything just yet. But we’re always considering them, so stay tuned.

I bought this the day it was released , It is somewhat like coolboarders but on the water instead . How about dolphins use the as tunnels when they are jumping , but we got to judge when and if to go through incase they land on us . Unlocking new characters like an Alien , maybe even some PSHome unlocks would be the way forward also . Oil rigs half sunken pirate ships ALL to be used as obstacles and ramps , It would be a good thing if we could design our own tracks we could unlock things to be added .

Same ideas should be added to smash cars another game I own i would love a RC ornament for my home space . Home unlocks are the way forward I think .

If you give away 2/3 small bits of FREE dlc in the store, one per week (stuff like new characters / boards), and a level pack with 2/3 maps for £1.99 I think it will please the existing customers as well as keeping the profile of the game prominent in the store for a few weeks.
I know when I have bought games in the past, a part of my decision to buy has been how much additional content had been released for it. When people see free downloads are available, it will encourage them to buy the full game.

That was the most boring demo ever… just some lame tutorial.
43
Posted on 30 April, 2010 at 11:22 am by Gameboys
I was really happy about the news, that we got a demo from the game.
but the tutorial (as a demo) was a bad idea, i guess… i’m disappointed – because there is no way to check out, if its “really” funny, even if it look pretty cool

@Sipu If you cancel out of the ‘buy’ screen after the tutorial, you can go back to the map and do two proper missions in the demo.
