‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (22nd April 2010)

Countries: , , , ,

So, hope you didn’t miss me too much last week…how ever did you cope? :-)

I’m pleased to say that we’ve got three new PS3 games available this week; from gun-tootin’ gunslingers in Lead and Gold – Gangs of the Wild West, to furry domesticated animals running riot in Hamsterball Unleashed, to high-speed arcade action in After Burner Climax…a little something for everyone, and for all those hamster owning fighter-pilots with dreams of wandering the prairies hunting outlaws, you’re especially well served this week.

I’m also going to remind you that the brand new mini Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess! is available, and that the next batch of additional content for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, the Siege Expansion Pack is here too. Add in a mix of new demos, add-ons and various other bits and pieces and that rounds up this week’s update. What, you want more information? Then scroll down for the full list.

From the 5th of May the store will change the weekly update day to Wednesday, so be prepared to reconfigure your week around this monumental event!

Also, have you noticed the blog survey that went up this week? Why don’t you have a gander and provide your feedback, it’s useful for us to gauge your thoughts…but don’t forget to mention how much you love the store, the updates, and of course your ever loving friend, me. :)

As I’m back, that means I’ll be monitoring the comments this week as usual, so give us a shout and I’ll respond to what I can.

Cheers.

PS3 3.30 System Software Update

Hi everyone, in our continued effort to provide the best, most comprehensive entertainment experience possible, we’ll be adding a few new features to PlayStation 3 (PS3) via the latest system software update, which is a mandatory update and will be available shortly. Most notably, you’ll see some new sorting options within Trophies that make it easier to claim bragging rights among your friends on PlayStation Network.

  • Trophy enhancements –- Now you can more easily sort trophies in the [Trophy Collection] and [Comparing Trophy] sections. Sorting can be done with [Trophy Collection] in the [Game Category] and also when comparing trophies with your friends in the [Friend Category]
    • Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game name/ by title according to the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
    • Add-on list (Group list) can be sorted by original/the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
    • Trophy list can be sorted by original/trophy name/grade/date of obtaining the trophy (ascending/descending)

In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs.

Let us know your thoughts and as always, we look forward to your feedback.

UNCHARTED 2 Siege Expansion Pack Coming This Thursday, Double Cash Weekend Returns!

Countries: , , , ,

UPDATE: New videos added.

The day is nearly here for our UNCHARTED fans and the multitudes who have been awaiting a new co-op game type — The UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves Siege Expansion Pack will be on sale when the PlayStation Network Store updates on Thursday, April 22nd, and will set you back only $5.99.

Look for the PlayStation Store Update blog post on Thursday to know when The Siege Expansion Pack is available for purchase.

As we announced just two weeks ago, the Siege Expansion Pack is our biggest DLC release to date: two new maps, six new multiplayer skins, one new co-op game type and 11 new online-only Trophies.

Do yourself a favor and read the full rundown of what’s included in the pack, check out the screenshots, and watch the gameplay and map fly-through videos. You won’t be disappointed.

Uncharted 2: The Siege (The Plaza)

The most significant portion to the Siege Expansion Pack is the new Siege co-op game type. You can read impressions of Siege from these IGN and GameSpot reviews of the Siege Expansion Pack. Since we started testing Siege internally, up through last week’s sessions with reviewers, I’ve really enjoyed the complexities of Siege. It’s not as simple as defending pre-defined locations against waves of NPCs: Between the different vulnerabilities of each new location and the lack (or abundance) of weapon pickups, you’ll find yourself testing out interesting new strategies to maximize your points and cash.

The People Vs Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess

Countries: , , , ,

What do you want to know about Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess?

Monsters Probably Stole My Princess

Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess is a greatly anticipated minis title developed by Mediatonic, available to download from PlayStation Store on 22 April 2010.

The humorous platform title features The Duke, an aristocratic demon who is convinced that some sneaky monsters have kidnapped his lady love from his castle.

One guy who knows more about this exciting new game than anyone is Paul Croft, co-founder and director of games for Mediatonic, and we’re giving you the chance to ask him anything you like.

You can either head over to the official PlayStation Forums at community.eu.playstation.com and leave your questions there, or add them in the comments on this post. On 1 May 2010, we will (probably) pick your best questions and put them to Paul.

Check back soon to see if your question was used.

Xi Alumni Hub Temporary Removal and Update

The Xi Alumni Hub will be removed from PlayStation Home temporarily, starting from this week. Due to recent changes introduced with the 1.35 client update, these spaces need to be rebuilt to ensure they continue to function as designed.

nDreams will be taking this opportunity to provide access to some content from Xi that hasn’t been seen since Xi ended, along with some items from Xi that will be available to own.
