Hi All,
This is WHA Entertainment, the publisher for Kick-Ass the video game, available Wednesday 5th May. The story line direction we took for the transition from movie and comic to the Sony PSN game will have fans of the IP excited about playing the game.
How come nobody’s ever tried to be a superhero? Because It Hurts.
The game lets you pick your superhero to play, Kick-Ass, Big Daddy and Hit Girl. Each has its own unique weapons, fighting and style of game play. Even in 2 player local co-op mode, you’re able to select any of these great superhero’s. Strap on, and we on our way into the street level of New York City. Were sure to get an ass kicking here, and Kick-Ass is not any different from us. See him get his ass kicked in front of the Donut shop. The story line, game levels and locations work as close to the movie as what was possible. Of course there was one superhero we didn’t want to get rid of.
As we’re moving from level to level, we’re fighting mini-bosses, environment obstacles, barrels that blow up. We have the big action packed fight in “Trey Fernandez “apartment. Additional game levels include the burning warehouse, the junkyard as you avoid cars dropping on your head and Frank D’Amico’s Penthouse. Other missions help move the story line and game play along as you pick up mana, and perfect your fighting skills.
In the penthouse level, one of the cool game features is the use of the “Jet Pack”. Blast your way from outside the penthouse apartment to inside D’Amico’s lair. This final mission ratchets up the action to an entirely new dimension, where we can pilot the already-legendary jet pack from the movie’s climactic final battle scene. Cut loose with twin Gatling guns, cutting down enemies in a barrage of hot lead and shattered glass – but don’t forget to keep moving, or you’ll be blown out of the sky in a hail of return fire and bazooka shells!
Red Mist even drops in for a beat down.
The game includes cool dialogue, great music and action sequences that culminate in a great adrenaline fill for all superheros.
One of the great Bonuses in the game is to find all 8 comic book covers placed throughout the missions. When you achieve that, you’re able to unlock the entire 1st original issue of the comic book. It’s great to be able to read this issue from your couch as your watching the pages on your 36” T.V.
Thanks for your time, and go kick some ass.
Cheers.

4/10 IGN
Kick-Ass is a poor beat-‘em-up that feels rushed at every turn. It’s certainly better than the iPhone version which I had the great misfortune of playing earlier this week, but that was the lowest of hurdles. The action is incredibly repetitious and unoriginal, even if you choose different characters. The pacing is all over the place. The technical issues with the camera and slowdown are bizarre. There are way too many good PSN downloads to grab instead of wasting your time and money on this.

MY GOD “barrels that blow up”!!!!!
I’m so excited to face these, haven’t seen them since Doom, Doom 2, Donkey Kong Country, Resident Evil, Borderlands, Grand Theft Auto, Half-Life, Halo 3, Worms Armaggedon, Boiling Point, Max Payne, Freedom Fighters, Red Faction, Perfect Dark….and much much more.
If this such a major feature that you feel you need to include it in the advertising speel, you know your screwed.

@ 11 to be fair mate you can’t really call it overpriced or rushed when you haven’t actually played it.. I loved the movie and personally think this game looks like a lot of fun.

Exploding barrels is a feature? Since when? Sounds like an ad Homestar Runner would have on it’s site.
EXPLODING BARRELS!
MULTIPLAYER!
ACTUAL GAMEPLAY!

Well, I’m not expecting Uncharted 2, I’m expecting a mildly diverting scrolling beat-em-up that can provide me and a friend with some laughs, however short lived that laughter may be.
As for people talking about supporting rushed, cash-in games I’d suggest you go back to your COD’s and filling Bobby Kotick’s pockets, so that maybe he can destroy some more talented developers like Infinity Ward.
Me personally? Yeah, I’m looking forward to kicking some ass! :p

@15: By all accounts, it has exactly two of those features.

Here’s a long list of games with exploding barrels. Easily one of the most used clichés in gaming. Not an Adverisable Feature!!!

If Kick-Ass’s attacks are 100 times less effective than Hit-Girl’s in co-op, that would be good.

I live in the USA, and I bought this game last week (because it was released then). I am a fan of this game. It is lots of fun with a friends over too! People should not talk bad about a game until they have tried it! Sure IGN gave it a low score as mentioned above, but they are to hardcore. This game is an old-school arcade type of game we used to play back in the day with the Kick-Ass characters! Stop judging the game before playing!
