‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (5th May 2010)

So, today’s historic occasion has arrived; the first Wednesday store update. I didn’t go overboard with the goodbyes to Thursday updates last week, because it was just so sad, I was on the verge of breaking down. It’s all about looking forwards to the shiny new store update day instead.

To celebrate this ‘kick-ass’ occasion, ahem, we have available the game version of the comic and film hit, Kick-Ass (please note, whilst this initial release is for the English language stores only, all other locales will be getting it released in due course). We also have two other full games available this week in the form of Anarchy: Rush Hour and Feeding Frenzy 2, whilst for PSP users you’ll be able to get to grips with R-Type Tactics.

We also have two massive demos for you this week, for the forthcoming titles UFC Undisputed 2010, and Split/Second: Velocity, and we also have the first expansion for the PSN exclusive title Burn Zombie Burn!, and it’s set in space, what more do you need? :-)

Finally; The Stimulus Pack is here! Not sure if you’ve heard of this? Of course you have, who am I kidding? For those of you who have been itching to get your hands on the new maps for the multiplayer experience of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, now is your chance.

Throw into the mix the Flower soundtrack, a new episode of FirstPlay, new themes and avatars, and more add-ons, and that’s your first Wednesday update.

Let me know how that grabs you in the comments section as usual.

Cheers.

StevenHibs 5 May, 2010 @ 12:03 pm   6

£10.99 for MW2 DLC lol, I’ll crack the Jokes

Locke_Tribal 5 May, 2010 @ 12:03 pm   7

Oh Mike, I fear the comments are gonna be bad today :D

Still glad to see R-Type Tactics show up, although it could do with being €5 cheaper.

Not a bad update ;)

Osahi_be 5 May, 2010 @ 12:03 pm   8

Wooohooo! Wednesday updates!

Boohooo! Only thing that I want to check isn’t available in Belgium :( Will the Split/Second demo ever reach our shores Mike?

Sp4reNL 5 May, 2010 @ 12:04 pm   9

Thanks for the Anarchy: Rush Hour Mike!

Getting it as soon as the store is online. As promised ;-)

jaysive 5 May, 2010 @ 12:04 pm   10

can someone please tell me what sort of time we are looking at for this update?!?!

Del_007 5 May, 2010 @ 12:04 pm   11

Not bad update :)Looking forward to trying out Split/Second :D

Soooo heres the thing. It’s my birthday today and Nintendo gave me 50 star points. Can you match that Sony and give me a Code? :p

lmao don’t ask you don’t get!

somethingatt 5 May, 2010 @ 12:04 pm   12

When can we expect the update man? 3PM-ish?

elhozzo3 5 May, 2010 @ 12:05 pm   13

was hoping for some extra-special special offers to celebrate the move to Wednesdays … I mean, having 4 of the 5 special offer PS3 slots taken by LBP costumes sucks a bit …

especially looking at the USA store, and the current Pixeljunk promotion … Mike, I remember before xmas you commented there could be a PJ offer in Jan .. what happened? is it coming ?

and the PJ Shooter demo would be nice ..

not to mention, it must be time for offers on WipeOut Fury pack, Motorstorm PR packs, GTI Club, Zombie Apocolypse etc …

still, not bad update….

judoblo 5 May, 2010 @ 12:05 pm   14

2 RBN tracks? What happened to 5 a week? lol

Split/Second demo though :D

enormhi 5 May, 2010 @ 12:05 pm   15

Nothing for me again… Because the MW2 map pack is way to expensive. Do you agree Mike?

And a question: Do you know anything about Lead and Gold coming to The Netherlands?

ytevo79 5 May, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   16

Nice, but nothing for me.

whats the deal with the availability for kick ass? is it available anywhere? the blog post this week said:
Kick-Ass Available On PSN This Week!
Countries: AE, AU, GB, IE, NZ
typo?

shaunali 5 May, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   18

“(please note, whilst this initial release is for the English language stores only,….. )”

I know we are hard to understand sometimes but you do know we speak English in Australia right?

enormhi 5 May, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   19

Ow and when can we expect this to be live?

berts08 5 May, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   20

Great update :)

I will be getting Anarchy: Rush Hour, I hear it has a plat, that will bring me over 50.

AaronSOLDIER 5 May, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   21

Fingers crossed for Monkey Island next week.

Soulblitz 5 May, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   22

Great to see the Flower soundtrack!

antikewl 5 May, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   23

Nice update, but nothing for me this time. Still eagerly awaiting the elusive Monkey Island and a sale on Pixeljunk Shooter *hint* Like the US just had *hint*. :)

betahoven 5 May, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   24

Nice update.

Feels weird to have this on a Wednesday. :)

C_Knight 5 May, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   25

time for update please???

Sp4reNL 5 May, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   26

@9 I hope so too.
Maybe next week? As the official release date was 11th for split second demo?

thecolster123 5 May, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   27

Yes. What a great update. Deffinately downloading the Split/Second: Velocity demo, and of course getting my FirstPlay Episode 5. ;)

ToxicSatsuma 5 May, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   28

Its been asked before but I’ll ask again when will the update be Live?

I agree the MW2 map pack is way to expensive but hell I’m gonna buy it anyway more fool me :-)

chara123 5 May, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   29

i will sell mw2 because the dlc is too expensive . TOO EXPENSIVE !
but anyway thanks for the great update .

SlapnutzUK 5 May, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   30

Split Second demo for me and a belly laugh at anyone who buys the MW2 map packs.

If you want a price drop people DON’T BUY THEM!

sephiroth180 5 May, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   31

For anyone asking about the price for the MW2 map pack, no it’s not a joke, Activision (being the greedy jerks they are) are charging that much for that map pack!

GhostViper 5 May, 2010 @ 12:08 pm   32

Oh dang, I forgott. Wensday is the day :D
Great updates. Was it wensdays or fridays back in the good old days the store updated?
I remember one time where Norway didn’t get anything for 4 weeks.
I’m getting all nostalgic.

mn9ajas 5 May, 2010 @ 12:08 pm   33

Wow this weeks update is like a box of ferrero rocher!

We think that ‘you are really spoiling us’ but then when we actually bite into this weeks update it’s nothing more than a manky chocolate with stale wafer around, with these sort of nutty things that get stuck in your teeth for ages!!

Come on bring out Peggle, Calling all cars and the likes for PSP rather than this trash. Oh yeah and don’t think that we’ve forgotten that there is STILL no PES for Go users!!

Roxas598 5 May, 2010 @ 12:08 pm   34

nothing for me today :)

Mike don’t suppose you have any news for me regarding tales of eternia?

mrfodder-usa 5 May, 2010 @ 12:08 pm   35

Nice. I’ll certainly be grabbing the demos. The one thing missing is what I really want. An news/hints on when Monkey Island is coming?

dgnfly 5 May, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   36

well mike i can’t really call this a good update cause most games we get have been on the US store way before we got it and the only psp game is for UK so basicly another crappy update get us some ps1 games that’s what we want and we don’t even get the game kick-ass next time make sure your actually right before saying something good is coming and is there any info on more psp games for the netherlands or any games for the netherlands

dewood 5 May, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   37

ok, you say today but when? and why do the dam yanks get it a day before us? what are we second class citizens? come on guys get on it so i can download it before i go to work today at 2pm

imajinetion 5 May, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   38

This is actually better than the american update last night (that sounds wierd). Splitsecond demo!

SaffieFireblade 5 May, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   39

feeding frenzy, trail and unlock key.. I’m guessing it has a demo then? :D

wiiman07 5 May, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   40

minimatt911 5 May, 2010 @ 12:10 pm   44

My PS store doesnt have the modern warfare stimulus. Why is this?? :/

BlackMage3 5 May, 2010 @ 12:12 pm   45

THREE WEEKS LATER …. and still no Monkey Island.

SCEE = People who don’t care about making money.

Hi Mike.

Lately, somehow forgets to PSP.
Just look at the U.S. store and get me wrong.
I do not understand why so much store in the U.S. PS1 games and the EU there are so few.
Not to mention, and PSP games.

Please specify to me a little picture.

Sorry for my eng.

Hoki

Andriesc 5 May, 2010 @ 12:12 pm   47

Nice store update guys! Can’t wait to download the Stimulus package :D

imajinetion 5 May, 2010 @ 12:12 pm   48

@45, it hasn’t updated yet, hence the title “Heads-up”…

theturtleking 5 May, 2010 @ 12:13 pm   49

I want more than 2 RBN tracks. Stop screwing us over SCEE. Your mistake last week for not processing them in time and now you continue to screw us.

RedeyeCult 5 May, 2010 @ 12:13 pm   50

yo mike how you been? any news on what time the update hits? cant wait to fire up mw2 again and start busting some heads
