Hi Everyone,
It’s Rich from Capcom here to share my excitement at today’s release of Lost Planet 2. Yipee!
The sequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions has seen massive changes take place across the planet of E.D.N.III. We think we’ve got climate change issues? Earth has nothing on this place! The snow has melted across the planet to reveal all kinds of hostile environments in which you will have to adapt and do battle. The local Akrid creatures are also still as angry as ever . . .
As well as changes to the environment the game has also seen massive advances for the sequel. The multi-player mode for the game sees you and three mates work together through 6 massive levels battling rival pirate clans, akrid creatures and massive (and I really mean MASSIVE) bosses. To help you take on all these enemies there is a huge array of weapons and Vital-Suits which amounts to some seriously hard firepower.
There’s also a huge level of customisation in the game with which you can create your own unique pirate and unlock weapons, power ups and emotes. You can then take your own character into the online multiplayer modes to unleash some serious pwnage. PS3 owners will even be able to customise their characters using the Rathalos Armour from Monster Hunter in a download exclusive to the PlayStation3 which will be available in late May.
There will be more announcements about Lost Planet 2 on the PS3 to follow! Happy hunting . . .
Happy hunting all!

Ooo, first. Nice.
Anyway, yeah I wasn’t too keen on LP2 until I played the SP demo. That end of level boss had me on the edge of my seat. The combat looks weighty and sounds authentic. I’m not sold on the multiplayer side. I think I’ll come for multiplayer and have a go at it but I’ll stay for single player. I think a lot of the issues I had with the first game have been addressed in the sequel so I’m looking forward to buying it at the weekend.

Capcom don’t seem to aspire to be one of the top PS3 game developers. Not only are the controls awkward and limiting in LP2 but the MT Framework 2 tech you speak so highly of isn’t shortening the quality gap to the top PS3 games.

This game is terrible, friend of mine rented it for me, It’s basically Monster Hunter, but nowhere near as good. Stick to Street Fighter, it’s the only game your company has got right lately.

I don’t think Capcom have done too badly considering they publish the top fighter ever on most systems and have the horror genre locked down with Resident Evil.
Then there’s DMC…
Imo they’re in the top 5 multiplatform developers. I don’t think a few off titles here and there tarnishes their rep in any way.
Sometimes it’s nice to be different. Look at Nier. Or Heavy Rain.

Resident Evil 5 was a huge letdown compared to the previous four. Dead Space, while essentially a Resi-Remix, stole its thunder. And Devil May Cry has been average at best since the first.

Any chance of a new devil may cry game anytime soon?

Is Frank West in the PS3 Version, or is he exclusive to the Xbox Version?

Resident evil 5 was a huge disaster for Capcom, they took the few things that were annoying from RE4 and made them into main features.
Anyhoo I’ve heard this game is one to avoid at all costs, terrible reviews coming out. Seems Capcom can’t release anything half decent these days
Pity they used to be a great company

Yep what did I tell yous. A few months back on the eu Capcom forums I made a thread about how capcom has fallen off and how they were loosing respect from PS3 owners with exclusive stuff for the Xbox 360 and us Europeans getting left out with the Capcom classic PS1 games.
Lol now look at this post. 20 comments and half of them with nothing good to say. Capcom needs to do something for PS3 owners only to try and win them back because the companys sitting on a slop right now.
Anyone see there forecast for the fiscal 2011 year. 2.2 million copies of lost planet 2 across the 2 platforms. Honestly they’ll be lucky to sell 1 million across both platforms and I won’t be touching Dead Rising 2 either unless PS3 owners get that prologue episode thats going to the Xbox 360 exclusively.
I’m sorry but I take exclusive stuff for the xbox 360 as a F you to PS3 owners

Capcom have lost their golden touch. They used to be top dog back in the day, along with developers like Squaresoft and Konami. Now the big 3 Japanese developers are struggling. Konami need to constantly rely on Kojima for quality. Their PES series has fallen from grace and Silent Hill hasn’t been good for nearly a decade. Square redeemed themselves slightly with FFXIII, but that doesn’t take away a 10 year legacy of disappointment. Finally Capcom, who sailed so high just 5 years ago with DMC3 and RE4, have lacked all manner of creativity. Their best developers are jumping ship, they have little talent left. They’ve all gone to Sega. Now we look forward to rehashes, reskins and remakes. Where’s the ground-breaking new Capcom series? Where’s the forward thinking attitude that made DMC3 and RE4?

LP2 would have benefitted from focusing on the single player experience imo.
..oh and remember Capcom, gamers want DMC – not DRM.

Why bother putting Monster Hunter armour in your game when you fail to even release a Monster Hunter game on the PS3? Why didn’t Lost Planet 2 become a Wii exclusive as well? What the hell is going on in Capcom HQ? Who the heck continues to make stupid decisions?
Capcom fails to deliver, I fail to buy.

@SwiftRyu
I dunno dude, capcom is still top tier of game devs its just lost its way a little.. she’ll be back.
On that note though ive been playing Lost Planet 2 now for a couple of days and i cant believe the design choices of Jun Takeuchi.. specially the one where theres no check points during certain chapters so if your whole team dies you are forced o redo a chunk of that chapter again and some can take 30mins to do its nuts!
Also the avaters seem lifeless in cutscenes (no one blinks?!) and the AI characters are the ususal silly type that sometimes do nothing but get stuck at times.
I was really looing forward to this game too i LOVED the co op demo but now it seems i only got Red Dead Redemption to actually enjoy now. Shame.
Oh god dont get me started on the complex controls on LP2 too!

We need a party sustem for playing with friends, the current system sucks majorly.
Also the ability to mute a single individual player instead of everyone or none is needed.
Both of these make the difference between a buy or not.

Absolutely phenomenal. For two straight days, I’ve been hooked. Campaign’s huge, character customisation is flawless, and the weapons.. well, let’s just say I love grinding Akrid meat up with a VS shotgun.
Officially THE greatest game I have ever played.
