Greetings one and all and welcome to another PlayStation Store ‘Heads Up’.
Mike is up against it this week and has kindly let me out of my cage long enough to bring news of the latest Store update – I’m only too happy to oblige.
So what’s on the cards this week?
Well, quite apart from the new set of amazing Special Offers, (Critter Crunch for €2.99/£2.39 is just one of the deals too good to pass up) if you ever owned a MegaDrive or SNES then the chances are you might remember ‘Rocket Knight Adventures’ or its sequel ‘Sparkster’. If you do, or even if you don’t you’re in for a treat because this week Konami brings us ‘Rocket Knight‘ – the sequel to these two 16-Bit gems. Armed with a whacking great sword and his trademark rocket pack, you’ll take to the skies to defend the world of Elhorn from all comers. Best of all, if you’re still on the fence you can try it out before you grab the full game.
We’ve also been blessed with ‘Catan’- a digital version of the German board game, ‘The Settlers of Catan’ for you all to enjoy. It’ll take a mixture of strategy, luck and negotiation to come out on top and it’s addictive enough that I’ve been playing it all week. So get out there and establish those colonies! Establish them!
You’re spoiled for DLC this month as awesome titles become even more awesome. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 gets its first premium DLC in the form of the SpecAct packs – camouflaged weapons and outfits for every class to give you the edge on the battlefield. Ignore them at your peril, because when you’re out setting charges on the M-Com stations, I’ll be the invisible one in the long grass ready to attach C4 to the back of your head when you’re not looking.
BioShock 2 expands further with three new multiplayer packs to draw you back into the underwater world of Rapture, LittleBigPlanet gets zoological with the ‘More Animals!’ costumes and we’ve got a whole new chapter with unlockable loot for Square-Enix’s action-RPG, Nier.
Admittedly it’s a quiet week for PSP, but to tide you over until ModNation Racers next week there’s never been a better time to pick up Buzz! Quiz World or LittleBigPlanet as we release even more downloadable content for these two brilliant titles.
I’d love to tell you more about the three new Skate 3 packs, the new Shoryuken costumes for Super Street Fighter IV, the Domination Pack for DJ Hero and all the rest, but you’ll have to go check the list for yourself. I just haven’t got the time… I’ve got colonies that need establishing!
Later guys, I’ll be around to reply to comments in a little while.

You got to be kidding me? 2K is charging us money to get two characters who were made before the release of the game and given to certain pre order customers. I can’t believe it, first they delay it for the rest of us for 3 months, then they’re gonna charge us to get them on top of that.
These scams should be illegal, I know Sony doesn’t have anything to do with these cases, but it bugs me.
EA can also go screw themself, the release the same kind of add-ons they did on the release of Skate 2 and still charges money for it, even though it were probably made long before the release of the game.
So sick of developers taking more of our moneys so we can get content already made before the release of the game
Since we in Europe will get the chance to take a trip to Dotnia later this week, do you guys know if there will be any DLC for 3D Dot Game Heroes in the future?

Just popping back once again to say..
Get SSX ON TOUR for PSP onto the store please!
The one game I truly miss since buying a PSPGo.
What happened to the claims that the back-catalogue of PSP Games would be available on, or near-to, launch?!

i wrote this on the may 5th update page and i think it is still valid here:
“i think mike was doing great by being so transparent and honest.. and we really appreciate that man..
what i think you should do mike for us is to transfer our frustration to the publisher and explain that there’s a ready market who’s willing to buy this game and you’re missing out by not offering it to them!!..
and i think this should come from Sony as a strategic decision to promote its store since (to be honest) never been a game worth buying on the store before call of duty!!
the other thing mike is if you could ask the publisher what’s the alternative for us? are they gonna launch a new game Disc with the maps installed? coz i’d buy that!!! my CD is scratched and i’m willing to replace it with a new one if i get the maps as well!!!
thanks again mike!”

where did the disgaea 2 dlc go to?…
also you seem to hate nisa games! i cant find half of them on the eu store anymore..

Posted on 13 May, 2010 at 5:25 pm by GaryCXJk
Yeah, I was also wondering about the Disgaea 2 DLC, seeing as even the game itself has disappeared from the store. And I would know, I have bought the game on PSP.
On a different note, will we see more PS1 game releases in the future again? I mean, sure, they might not be as popular, but I’d like to see, for example, Tomba! / Tombi! or… well, that’s it basically, just that game. Or how about Japan only PS1 releases which may or may not be translated for the Western audience? I know a certain company who does (most often sans translating, but still), and it’s a recurring event, indicating it has to be popular.

I was wondering about the Disgaea 2 DLC as well. Any chance that will become available again?
Also, Disgaea 2 is still available in the store, but not through the menu. The only way to find it, is to use the manual search function at the top of the PSN Store screen. Search for Disgaea and you’ll find that Disgaea 2 still pops up there. It won’t show anywhere else though. Too bad the DLC doesn’t show up this way.

Well PSP Go owners, I’m not even gonna say “we told you so”. But even as a PSP3000 owner I’m still royally p*ssed, because I am trying to get the best of two worlds and get some downloadable games, especially PSOne Classics, but I’m not able to, because I did the mistake of starting EU account. With US Store I would be set for life just about now (and give Sony 10x more money on the way).
But yeah, even tho I hated the idea of PSP Go to begin with (foreseeing this price/availability situation), I really feel for you Go guys.
