Did you like the first two volumes of Atomic Robo? If so you’re in luck – Volume 3 starts this week. We’re transported back to the roaring 20s’ New York, where a chilling message from the past comes to disturb Atomic Robo’s quiet night in… There’ll be some work to do!

Down in Washington, DC, it’s another dark force that threatens the world as we know it… The mysterious Thrum is at centre stage in the new IDW series Garters and Ghouls. And, yes, it is based on the game we all know and love! Make sure you give this one a try.

The Immortal Iron Fist also returns this week. Bei Bang-Wen is back from what looked like a certain death – well, someone had to honour that Immortal title after all! The beautifully rendered tales continue…

Now, did someone say they wanted more Transformers Spotlight? Because that’s what we have this week – focusing on the mighty Prowl… Read this and see Prowl from a whole new perspective.

Last but not least, we thought we would highlight the Flying Friar, the new Markosia graphic novel. This lengthy tale blends in superheroes, the religious 17th century, and a true story with a few twists… That’s a one-off. Featuring script extracts, sketches and location reports.

‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (12th May 2010)

Countries: , , , ,

Greetings one and all and welcome to another PlayStation Store ‘Heads Up’.

Mike is up against it this week and has kindly let me out of my cage long enough to bring news of the latest Store update – I’m only too happy to oblige.

So what’s on the cards this week?

Well, quite apart from the new set of amazing Special Offers, (Critter Crunch for €2.99/£2.39 is just one of the deals too good to pass up) if you ever owned a MegaDrive or SNES then the chances are you might remember ‘Rocket Knight Adventures’ or its sequel ‘Sparkster’. If you do, or even if you don’t you’re in for a treat because this week Konami brings us ‘Rocket Knight‘ – the sequel to these two 16-Bit gems. Armed with a whacking great sword and his trademark rocket pack, you’ll take to the skies to defend the world of Elhorn from all comers. Best of all, if you’re still on the fence you can try it out before you grab the full game.

We’ve also been blessed with ‘Catan’- a digital version of the German board game, ‘The Settlers of Catan’ for you all to enjoy. It’ll take a mixture of strategy, luck and negotiation to come out on top and it’s addictive enough that I’ve been playing it all week. So get out there and establish those colonies! Establish them!

You’re spoiled for DLC this month as awesome titles become even more awesome. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 gets its first premium DLC in the form of the SpecAct packs – camouflaged weapons and outfits for every class to give you the edge on the battlefield. Ignore them at your peril, because when you’re out setting charges on the M-Com stations, I’ll be the invisible one in the long grass ready to attach C4 to the back of your head when you’re not looking.

BioShock 2 expands further with three new multiplayer packs to draw you back into the underwater world of Rapture, LittleBigPlanet gets zoological with the ‘More Animals!’ costumes and we’ve got a whole new chapter with unlockable loot for Square-Enix’s action-RPG, Nier.

Admittedly it’s a quiet week for PSP, but to tide you over until ModNation Racers next week there’s never been a better time to pick up Buzz! Quiz World or LittleBigPlanet as we release even more downloadable content for these two brilliant titles.

I’d love to tell you more about the three new Skate 3 packs, the new Shoryuken costumes for Super Street Fighter IV, the Domination Pack for DJ Hero and all the rest, but you’ll have to go check the list for yourself. I just haven’t got the time… I’ve got colonies that need establishing!

Later guys, I’ll be around to reply to comments in a little while.
