The New minis Game Robin Hood: The Return Of Richard

Countries: , , , ,

Hello everyone! It’s Alex Bravve from Nordcurrent here. Today I’d like to talk about our first minis game called Robin Hood – Return of Richard that will be available on PSN on the 26th of May.

Robin Hood is a shooting adventure game set in medieval England. You play as a Robin Hood, trying to defend local towns and villages from cruel enemies.

robin_01

Robin Hood’s gameplay has its roots in classics shooting and hunting games, such as Duck Hunt or Moorhuhn, but with tons of little cool features. For example, each level has secret objects that you have to find and shoot, and if you find them all, you will get some bonus points. Or here, in Robin Hood, it is not only you who can shoot enemies, but also enemies can shoot you.

robin_02

Robin Hood consists of 12 levels. All levels are different in terms of visuals as well as villains. As you progress further, you will be facing against new enemies – for example at some point you will meet a nice catapult guys. If you do not take care of them quick enough, you will be hit very hard. :)

robin_03

You should also take care of the big guys, as they are the most dangerous enemies after catapults. :) They appear all of a sudden and they give you just a few moments before you can take them out, otherwise you will be badly damaged.

Well, that’s it for today folks. As always, we hope you’ll enjoy our game and if you need more information – you can visit our website www.nordcurrent.com or our Facebook page on www.facebook.com/Nordcurrent.

New minis Title: Supermarket Mania

Countries: , , , ,

Greetings everyone!

At G5 Entertainment we are really excited to announce the release of our best-selling casual game Supermarket Mania on PSP minis! Today you’ll be able to try Supermarket Mania yourself and understand why our team is so much in love with the game and its cute characters.

1

Most likely you are familiar with time management, our favourite genre of casual games. We like these games because they are really easy to start playing, but become trickier with each new level; they test your attention, require quick reactions and get you involved due to their growing pace. As always, we spent a lot of time making sure the PSP controls are intuitive and smooth.

3

In Supermarket Mania you are challenged to help our beautiful character Nikki who is busy stocking shelves and serving customers in several supermarkets around the town. Nikki has to develop her time management skills and learn to be tough when dealing with nasty thieves, naughty teenagers and evil competitor TORG Corp., a supermarket chain run by robots. Nikki needs your help in adding that important human touch to store management, and attract most loyal customers including snobby celebrities!

Interested in the insights of the game creation process? The first version of Supermarket Mania took us around a year to produce. We aimed for very simple but addictive and fun gameplay for fans of casual gaming, and we wanted the game to be set in the supermarket. We made a number of iterations, trying different things out. In the first prototype, Nikki had to bring products to customers who were queuing at the counter, but we figured that it was rather boring and it took Nikki too long to serve everyone.

Also, customers were not mobile and lacked character because of this. In the second major iteration Nikki used a number of shop assistants responsible for bringing different goods, and they gave out the products that customers asked for at the counters. The customers were animated and started going back and forth between counters. However, this concept didn’t work well either, as the player was easily getting lost trying to control several assistants at the same time.

Eventually, we concluded that the most efficient way to run the shop in our game was like in real life – we gave customers access to all shelves in the shop, and they were free to wander around and buy whatever they wanted, while Nikki had to bring goods from the storage room and make sure that all shelves were stocked. This simple concept turned out to be a lot of fun, which you will see yourself soon!

Digital Comics Store Update (26th May 2010)

Countries: , , , ,

Happy Wednesday everybody! This week we have two free comics, one new publisher, two lots of audio commentary and one God with a big hammer.

Digital Comics Store Update (25th May 2010)

Liquid Comics are the latest publisher to release their comics on the Digital Comics store. Originally known as Virgin Comics, and founded by Sir Richard Branson, they focus on collaborating with creative talent from around the world. Filmmakers, writers and musicians including John Woo, Guy Ritchie, Shehar Kapur & Garth Ennis have all worked with them.

If you’d like a taster then you can download Snakewoman #0 and Ramayan 3392 AD: Origins for FREE.

Or why not buy Zombie Broadway #1 written by Dave Stewart (of Eurythmics fame) which tells the story of a zombie outbreak in New York that can only be quelled by the song and dance of the Broadway stage. I kid you not.

There are two comics from IDW this week, the brilliant Zombies vs Robots: Aventure #3 (my favourite series at the moment) and the awesome Eternal Decent #2. Both are worth buying and both come with audio commentary.

Finally from Marvel, we have the first 6 issues of Thor (2007)

‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (26th May 2010)

Countries: , , , ,

So I’m pretty confident that this week, there’s got to be something available for everyone…I’ll be surprised if there isn’t. Oh, hello by the way, hope you are well :-)

So, let’s get cracking. The first of the new games I want to highlight this week is Fret Nice, which takes the world of guitar based rock and platforming gameplay mechanics and combines them into a side-scrolling game…intriguing no? Moving on, we have the sequel to Soldner-X: Himmelssturmer, this time with an easier to pronounce title too; Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype. This game features masses of enemies, an arsenal of explosive weaponry, and looks pretty gorgeous too, it’s also a great reminder of the old-school side-scrolling shooters of yesteryear too (what is it with side-scrolling games this week?).

For those of you who have bought the Sam and Max bundle, then Episode 2: The Tomb of Sammun-Mak (catchy title huh, did you see what they did there?) is available this week too. I’m sure there will be many of you who have not had enough Final Fantasy in your life recently, so we’re pleased to say that the PSone release of Final Fantasy IX also hits the store today!

As mentioned on the blog earlier this week, we have the madcap mini Feel For Two available this week, and what’s there not to love about a game that features mini-games with names such as Pile Up! Bakery and Sheep Defense.

I also want to mention quickly that we have MAG dynamic themes available and new avatars from the worlds of Uncharted 2 and Soldner-X 2

As always though I don’t have enough room to write about everything that’s released this week, there are other games, demos and additional content that I have not been able to talk about. So I suggest you take a look below for the full rundown.

As usual, comments fun shall be had, so let me know your thoughts. Cheerio ;)
