Hello dear blog readers, Rob Burman from SouthPeak Games here. Hopefully you’ll remember I was here last month to encourage everyone to create a hero using the online character creator for the explosion of retro goodness that is 3D Dot Game Heroes. The contest was extremely successful and we had entries from across Europe. A big thank you to everyone that entered, but unfortunately only five people can be the extremely proud recipients of a massive foam sword and a copy of the game. So, without further ado, here are the lucky winners:
This character was absolutely fantastic and I can’t begin to think how long this must have taken. In fact, we didn’t even know this much detail was possible in the creator. I’m going to go out a limb and say this must have taken 100 hours to make.
I love dinosaurs, so this entry was my personal favourite. It’s a good job I didn’t mention on the blog that I like dinosaurs otherwise everyone would have created a raptor. In fact, this entry inspired me to create a dinosaur as my character in the game too!
We had a few entries from Jasmin and they were all of a very high standard. The hair alone in this hero is a piece of art. In fact, this entry inspired me to die my hair this colour…
We liked this one because it was more of a classical knight – like something out of Japanese anime. You can imagine this hero tackling giant lizards or angry robots…or perhaps that’s just my imagination running wild.
Hey, who said Arnold Schwarzenegger could be a character in 3D Dot Game Heroes? Shouldn’t he be busy imposing ridiculous tax laws in California? Oh…it’s not Arnie, my apologies. Still, it’s a very good hero and we liked his big grin.
Anyway, hope you like all the winners as well. By the way, as a reminder, if you’ve got a copy of 3D Dot Game Heroes remember to create a character using the in-game editor and then email it to ukoffice@southpeakgames.com because it could potentially appear as an official downloadable hero on the website www.southpeakgames.eu. @beardyweirdy, Game and HMV are the only stores in Ireland to stock this,best to get it in HMV as they have it for under €40,Game were charging €55.

Distribution of this title must have had some problems. I couldn’t find this game anywhere in local stores in the past several weeks, so I’ve imported a copy of the Atlus USA release.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger lookalike is actually Marco Rossi from Nazca’s 2D side-scrolling shooter, Metal Slug, which is now in the hands of SNK. Not that I want to criticise, but it does your hardcore credentials absolutely no-good by not recognising someone as iconic as Marco Rossi. I mean, the Metal Slug games were released on Arcade boards, NeoGeo, NeoGeo Pocket, Sega Saturn, PS1, PS2, Xbox, GBA, DS and PSP. Maybe other systems too.
MARCO ROSSI. Google it.

Does anyone know if this modem is crap for my PS3. (Wireless N 150 Home Router)Because my playstation 3 won’t let me have a decent internet connection on it and internet check doesn’t register that i can go on my psn and i can’t sign in as well. I can only do all this wirelessly but i don’t want to be going up and down stairs to play in the living room for only 3 hours or less. I tried doing the port thing like some people suggest but i don’t know exactly what to do there. I don’t know what a DMZ is and unsure about DNS & DNL. Also other such things as Media Server. It probably all started when i ” borrowed” my neighbours internet ” linksys”. My ps3 seemed to work when ever i used that but kept getting kicked off by them. When I used the Wireless N 150 Home Router nothing worked except for my computer. But when i created a new used and signed up for the ps3 it worked after trying a couple times and after a but load of days of being online and purchasing add-ons, it gave out by being slow when i was in cod 5 lobby so i turned it off. Then i said there was a psn error and iv’e bein signed out. Still could go online wired but it creates a hassle. Also i got the upgrades when using my neighbours internet connection.

Ikaruga? You’ve got good taste, and are fully redeemed Mr Burman! But I must ask… Are you playing that on the PS3? I wasn’t aware that it had been officially released on any Sony-branded console. Is this a subtle of way leaking information that it’s finally been ported over to PSN, and is in the hands of PR people? Or are you encouraging the playing of non-PlayStation systems on the PlayStation blog?
I’m sorry… I couldn’t resist.
