‘Heads-Up’ PlayStation Store Update (2nd June 2010)

So what’s the line-up this week then on PlayStation Store? I’d say you’re in the right place to find out; shall we tuck in?

Planet Minigolf joins us this week, bringing its own style of golfing aesthetics to our fingertips, also offering customisation options as well as multiplayer modes; this certainly looks like something you could be sinking some time into (there’s also a demo available). On PSP, you can assume the role of a fighter pilot tasked with taking down a witch (yes you read that right) in Xyanide: Resurrection, a side-scrolling shoot ‘em up. For those who own both PS3 and PSP I direct to this lovely little oddity (can you guess where I’m going with this?), the multi-award winning sequel, Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus.

That’s not all though, there are plenty of other titles worth delving into; the full listing as always is below.

There is one more week to run on the current batch of Special Offers, and we’ve also got some further titles given the permanent price reduction treatment too.

As usual, I’ll be skulking around in the gloom of the comments section, and may pop my head out occasionally if needed.

Cheers.

Roxas598 2 June, 2010 @ 12:05 pm   9

BellEvil 2 June, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   10

Hi Mike!
Can you tell us how much is R-Type Tactics?

Ciao!

Carnivius_Prime 2 June, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   11

Nothing for me this week but that’s ok cos I’m broke and I already got stuff to be playing but thanks for putting the Shatter soundtrack up. May get that next week.

Is the wednesday updates a permanent thing now? Hope so cos I’m out every thursday night at karate class so like having the evening free for new PSN stuff if available.

Still really wish regular PSP games could be played on PS3. You’d sell loads more surely.

QuietlyWrong 2 June, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   12

SNOOKER! As promised! Three cheers!

Altogether now, with Chas and Dave: “Snooker loopy / Nuts are we / We’re all snooker / Loopy!”

That’s made my month. :D See you on the green baize, chaps and chapesses.

Wasn’t today supposed to be when the PSP “Favorites” games were dropped to £9.99? I was looking forward to getting Patapon 2.

good update mike , bit gutted we havent got ufc dynamic theme like u.s got will we get that m8 as ufc is huge in u.k too

kool-chris93 2 June, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   15

Definitely picking up HISTORY Egypt Engineering An Empire.

Mike, will lumines ever get a PSN release? I missed it first time around..

Really enjoying Modnation Racers!

Cheers!

identity25 2 June, 2010 @ 12:06 pm   18

It says Savage Moon: Hera Campaign is £3.19, but it was £3.99 last week in the special offers, has it suddenly been reduced again for the 2nd week (that would be annoying because I bought it), or is this an error above?

toy story 2 is kinda daft without 1 first lol

Tridentmorph 2 June, 2010 @ 12:07 pm   20

Quite fancy Planet Minigolf, is it demo and buy unlock or two full downloads one for demo one for game?

i will get FirstPlay and Snooker Pack I think. Decent update chaps, thank you.

    Mike Kebby 2 June, 2010 @ 12:29 pm

One download for the demo, and a separate one for the full game.

Seedhouse 2 June, 2010 @ 12:08 pm   21

Hey Mike,

Is there any news on The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition being released for us yet? =[

Cheers,
Seedy

    Mike Kebby 2 June, 2010 @ 12:30 pm

It’s always been planned for release, I just can’t give dates just yet.

KC-alpha-14 2 June, 2010 @ 12:08 pm   22

Planet Minigolf is an awesome game.. I was in the closed beta.. Plus with move support later this year.. £6.29 is a steal.

ssf4 and pain avatars aswell mike please

rangwald 2 June, 2010 @ 12:08 pm   24

What happened to the two last episodes of Penny Arcade: Precipice of Darkness? We should have been four episodes but we only got two…

    Mike Kebby 2 June, 2010 @ 12:31 pm

The guys stopped making them, they announced this many moons ago.

Planet Minigolf + Hustle Kings Snooker pack

Sport-tastic update Mike.

Now all I need to do is finish Red Dead Redemption, and forget that Joe Danger is released next week. Oh and finish off The Fallout 3 DLC and make a start on Modnation Racers (Still in the cellophane) and…. and…

Amorbis 2 June, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   26

It’s nice to see that more avatars are becoming available. That being said, is there any plans for some WipEout avatars? I feel the ship logos would be quite stylish.

look like a great update for once thank mike
but i would also like 2 thank StefNighthawk for sorting things out about half-minute hero so Thank you
but it does seem sony europe aren’t doing their job it seems a gamer has 2 do it again considering rising start games suddenly start 2 appear in different locals

and mike shoulden’t you also be thanking stefnighthawk for doing some off your work

    Mike Kebby 2 June, 2010 @ 12:33 pm

You really think there wasn’t work going on in the background between SCEE and the publisher?…We were liaising with the publisher ages ago about how to get their content onto all stores.

Dudley0Neill 2 June, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   28

Haaaaannnng on.

“Valhalla Knights
Now available in all locales except Australia, Germany and New Zealand.

Valhalla Knights 2
Now available in all locales except Germany”

So we in NZ can get number 2 but not number 1. Is it just me or is that just plain odd.

Speaking of which – Abe’s here – Awesome.

AngelVsMadman 2 June, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   29

Please more soundtracks!
I can only find the OST from Killzone 2 & inFamous on iTunes, but would prefer the PSN Store.

Ikkarus 2 June, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   30

Not bad!

Any word on Grandia coming over Mike?
I’ll have to make sure I pick up that Magic Orbz bundle pack before the price offer runs out.

Just one last question. Would be great if you could comment, will Sony ever launch PS2 games on the PSN? It has arguably the best games on any platform and I just think you guys are missing out on a big opportunity with it. Especially if you could bring over previously only US releases same would go for PS1 US titles as well.

Again would be cool to hear your thoughts. :)

Basket21 2 June, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   31

Wooo snooker !!!

Any word on when the firstplay thingy will come to .nl?

Raider197 2 June, 2010 @ 12:09 pm   32

Brilliant again Mike, great to see some PS1 Classics again! Now if you could get Tomb Raider 1-3 up there sometime I’d be so happy! Is there still no word on if we’ll get them? :(

johnleonhart 2 June, 2010 @ 12:10 pm   33

Firstplay for me this week only, might pick up Numblast, Ive seen screenshots of this but not sure. Can anyone tell me if its any good?

Devilater 2 June, 2010 @ 12:11 pm   34

Another lame update.

xchris2008x 2 June, 2010 @ 12:11 pm   35

lol i knew Toy Story 2 or 1 would appear on the store close to toy story 3′s release.

@rangwald: The last two games aren’t being made. The story will be finished on the PA website, but the first two games are the only two now.

pricing is so mucked up toy story costs more than a real ps1 classic lmao seriously

HE43v3N 2 June, 2010 @ 12:12 pm   38

Hey mike, do you know when will be Littlebigplanet for PSP as platinum game? thank you ;)

Still no Monkey Island :( Any news on a release date?

jagerross 2 June, 2010 @ 12:14 pm   40

Hey Mike, do you know when the next Heavy Rain download content is out?

out off all the disney game 2 come 2 my region why toy story 2
like some other ppl i would rater have the first one and hercules

The_Shuffle 2 June, 2010 @ 12:14 pm   42

Planet Minigolf! Hallelujah! Thank you very much Michael!

Planet Minigolf + Snooker DLC + FirstPlay = awesome update.

Only thing that would have made this better was the avatars the US got last week. Any updates on those, surely there is no localisation needed on a picture? If you give us an update I promise to never call you Michael again :D

    Mike Kebby 2 June, 2010 @ 12:38 pm

Nobody calls me Michael…apart from my mother…stop it ;)

It’s not about localisation with avatars, it’s about making sure they work with all online cards that take your PSN ID information, websites, and the PSN itself when they are used on a PSN ID :P

That being said, if avatars are not submitted to us as well, then we don’t get them. I’m hoping we’ll eventually get all the avatars we have yet to see release over here.

bluespook 2 June, 2010 @ 12:14 pm   43

Any news on record of agarest war for europe?

any news would be great.

KylieDog 2 June, 2010 @ 12:14 pm   44

Still no Street Fighter avatars? When we finally get them we better get all the ones the US has at once, delaying them for Europe them trickling them out over weeks is insulting.

I think you made a typo on the Toy Story 2 price also, its at least £2 too high. £5+ for a PS1 classic? Really?

stevenhibs if your there i was wondering anything on FF7 crisis core or metal gear solid peace walker

Agamer2006 2 June, 2010 @ 12:15 pm   46

If im right, then it has been a year since you started doing Playstation Store Updates on the blog.

So happy first year on the blog mike, and here is to another year of great additions to the store :D

    Mike Kebby 2 June, 2010 @ 12:40 pm

    Where’s my cake then? ;)

Cheers, I didn’t even realise that…here’s to many more lovely years with you all :P

johnleonhart 2 June, 2010 @ 12:16 pm   47

Mike, can you give an opinion on Numblast, Have you played it?

Oh and is there any chance we’ll see some Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy Avatars?, I was thrilled to get the Uncharted 2 ones last week. First time I changed my avatar in over a year lol.

    Mike Kebby 2 June, 2010 @ 12:40 pm

I haven’t played it no, sorry. Puzzlers and RTS games are really the only genres of game I’m not too keen on.

spatsnaz 2 June, 2010 @ 12:16 pm   48

Wow, Oddworld. Thanks Mike!

THROBULATOR1 2 June, 2010 @ 12:17 pm   49

Nice to see the PS1 games, Toy Story 2 was a classic!

Now we just need the old school RESIDENT EVIL 1 on the PS1 store and I’ll be happy!!

yes? mmhmm.

ginjaninja88 2 June, 2010 @ 12:18 pm   50

@ Tridentmorph , I got crazy golf from the American store yesterday and the demo was around 450mb , whilst the game was around 750mb , so you would have to download two files
