Digital Comics Store Update (9th June 2010)

Nice to see you again! We’ve got a great update this week, & 4 free comics, so without further ado let’s see what’s in store.

Blog020610

Marvel release the first four issues of Ms. Marvel (2006). Follow the adventures of Marvel’s hottest lady as she battles the Brood! Don’t forget to catch up on some more Thor too, as issues 7 – 11 are out now.

IDW treat us to three new series. Arcane Legions is based on the board game [http://arcanelegions.com/] of the same name.

Like one of the plagues of Moses, an unearthly mist crept across the land, unleashing arcane powers upon an unsuspecting world. It started in the Middle East, and as the Earth turned and darkness fell across the globe the ghostly mists followed; within the span of 24 hours the world was cast into chaos. Now ancient Roman, Egyptian and Japanese gods and monsters battle in the war

Think Rome, but with monsters and sorcery thrown in (and less nudity).

The Last Unicorn is an adaption of the acclaimed novel by Peter S. Beagle. The unicorn in question, alone in her enchanted wood, discovers that she may be the last of her kind. She sets out on a journey to find her fellow unicorns. Along the way she encounters a magical cast of good and evil characters, in a world transformed by the lack of unicorns – and by the callous, selfish disillusionment of the king who has stolen them away. The book is beautifully illustrated in a manner that is perfect for the genre.

The Murder of King Tut adapts James Patterson’s best selling novel. A must for Egyptologists

IDW are also offering the following 4 comics at the new price of FREE:

Markosia release Eleventh Hour #1 which is the first instalment of a collection of ten standalone stories from the minds of the hottest rising talent in comics. Featuring tales of vampire hunters and their prey, condemned prisoners returned from the afterlife, apocalyptic fish suppers and superhuman teenagers kicking ass.

Hello agin Pete.
How is it going whit the update to the update for the software for the comicstore, that is based of the videostore software that is needed to get the comicstore out to the rest of us? ;)

Thanks for the link to the PS3 reader sugestion on the ideablogg on the US Playstation site last week. (http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/ideas/2010/04/23/ps3-comic-read)

Now, I just hope that we also get CrossRegion gifting.

Hello again Shadowdragoon. Discussions are continuing with the relevant departments. I’ll certainly give dates once we are 100% certain what they are.

Everyone should click on that link if they want a PS3 version :-)

Check out the free Ghoul comic as it comes with audio commentary too!

Tried to grab the Ghoul comic around 3.58pm but as the store loaded the maintenance began! Is Cages Issue 4 on the way?

    Pete Stott 9 June, 2010 @ 4:38 pm

Damn, so close! Cages issue 4 is on the way, but I don’t think we have a confirmed date yet. Shouldn’t be long now.

I see more and more comics that I would like to buy, but I can’t even download comics to begin with in my country… When will comics arrive to the Portuguese PSN? :(

HazelAM 9 June, 2010 @ 4:39 pm   4

ooh, more free stuff. :)
still waiting on some new TF and sonic issues.
still hoping for either a sample option or previews of issues.
one question for this week though, will the comics store be affected by the psn downtime?

    Pete Stott 9 June, 2010 @ 4:42 pm

New TF and Sonic are coming. We are working on a preview mechanism too :-)

Unfortunately the comic store will not be accessible until the PSN Maintenance has finished :-(

Darkscorpius 9 June, 2010 @ 5:12 pm   5

Hi Pete, how’s things? Glad I managed to get my usual 2000AD and Liquid Comics stuff before the PSN went down, it would be a long night at work tonight without it.

Anyone able to suggest some Marvel stuff worth checking out. I liked Joss Whedon’s Amazing X-men, any other suggestions would be great, cheers.

    Pete Stott 9 June, 2010 @ 5:21 pm

Hey Darkscorpius! Things are good thanks. You were lucky to get in there before the store shut. Thanks for the Liquid comic recommendations last week, I’ve been reading Eat the Dead which I am enjoying. They are longer than most comics too so good value for money.
Going by popularity Marvel Zombies and Civil War maybe good bets. I also enjoyed the Runaways. There is another Whedon comic on the store, Captain America #18…
