Good morning; don’t worry you haven’t lost track of time, this post really is up earlier than usual. This is because the store is updating earlier than usual (will be live before lunchtime), and the reason is because there will some PSN maintenance from 16.00 GMT today until tomorrow morning and you will therefore not have access to the store during this time I’m afraid (for more information check the forum post here).
Now the public service announcement is out of the way, it’s onto the task at hand; detailing the store update this week. Most weeks I debate about which decide which content to highlight, because the range of content is always pretty vast, and whilst this week is no different, for me there is one piece of content I really have to bring to your attention. Joe Danger.
This game is a testament to the skills of the team at Hello Games as they have done a truly astounding job of creating a really addictive game. Join Joe as he tries to reclaim his place back at the pinnacle of stunt bike racing; all the while flipping, spinning, pulling off sick combos, and avoiding many hazards, along the way. I’ve been lucky enough to play this already, and it’s got that pure ‘one more go’ factor to it, this game comes highly recommended.
PSP users can now take advantage of the low-priced PSP Essentials range that launches this week, and there’ll be more titles added as the weeks and months roll by. There’s also a new batch of Special Offers this week, including offers on Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battles Cars, Greed Corp, Section 8 and more.
The full list as always is below, but surely you all come here for my inane chatter and comments rather than the informative list below right? Right!?
You know the drill by now, you leave comments below, and I’ll respond to what I can.
Cheers.

There are previews for the Football ones that I can see, we should get previews for the others up to at some point.

@35, how could this be called cr@p??? Joe Danger looks like a must buy, plus price drops for SARPBC, Section 8 and Greed Corp (which is supposed to be quite good).
Quick question Mike, I dont finish work until 4, and wanted to take advantage of the price drop on Wake Boarding HD. Can you let me know when the price goes back up?

Joe Danger – ace, really looking forward to picking this up. Not much else to get excited about though.
Guess we will have a big update next week though with the E3 shenanigans in full force. Any hints Mike?
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 10:35 am by Mike Kebby
No, no hints whatsoever

I was hoping to see the DJ Hero dlc appear. But nice update none the less.

As nice as Joe Danger looks, for a downloadable (read non-transferable) game, it requires a demo at that price.
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 10:36 am by Mike Kebby
It’s always nice to have demos for the games on the store I agree with you certainly, but trust me, this game is totally worth taking a chance on. The guys at Hello Games have done an incredible job.

Should i just ring you guys then or?………
You guys are selling a PSP game that hardly works for £16 mike >.>

I’ve asked the relevant team to look into it.

Lots there are the price for the PSP Essentials is pretty sweet.
I will however ask the obligtory question…. Any news on a release date for Monkey Island?
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 10:59 am by Mike Kebby
There is Monkey Island content coming, and it won’t be much longer at all!
63
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 10:39 am by Carnivius_Prime
Hm Robocod for £1.58? tempting. I might pick that up with the SSFIV costumes and Eyepet freebie. Joe Danger looks fun but I been stung a few times with games of that price and I just don’t feel like buying something that price and higher without a demo.

Any special store plans for next week (E3)? There have been years where the store has been updated several times during E3 week to keep us up to date with the content (trailers) as it’s released in LA.
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 11:00 am by Mike Kebby
We’ll have the usual update on Wednesday, and some trailers going on Thursday. Wednesday will feature the majority of the E3 trailers though this year.

Will Europe/Australia ever get to see Jeanne D’Arc for PSP?
I mean it’s been translated and released in the US, yet no love for PAL regions…

djax-djax:
Williams Pinball not out until September, but…
When it does come out, you’ll have to decide whether you want to buy the PSP version or the PS3 version

So i’m stuck with it?
That sucks!
68
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 10:47 am by phantomfish
Might try Robocod too at that price.
But still no Monkey Island. Usually I’m pretty calm about staggered release dates but this is starting to get a tad annoying. It was released on April 22nd in the US and we are still waiting coming close to 2 months later.

Hey Mike,
Got a question for you, after the Sony press conference at E3 will it be put on the PlayStation Store for us to watch?
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 11:08 am by Mike Kebby
I believe that’s the plan yes
70
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 10:48 am by MrMaikey
Yeah, the price of the essentials are very good!!
I have 2 questions.. First will we see the RPG’s that are out in the US Store like Wild Arms or Suikoden?! Do I have to give up on that dream or is it worth to pray for it every night?! And second, I don’t see the PSP GO wallpaper for getting 10 free games, does it come online today?!
Thanks ^_^

I’ve heard Monkey Island is due for release on the PSN on the 7th July! It came from Telltale Games Facebook site – I worry about the validity of this because I’m not sure what the source of this information is!
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 11:09 am by Mike Kebby
I think that might be a good indication of a release date there

Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 11:02 am by Suzzopher
People saying they need a demo for Joe Danger are idiots. Look at the reviews, look at the youtube videos, look at gaming forums worldwide. Everyone loves it and £9.99 is hardly going to break the bank
People moan for the sake of it.
Anyway people shut up and buy the game, it’s freaking awesome. Support the little guys

As it’s one of ours the hope is to bring it back, but there were QA problems the last I heard. The team will look into it, and fingers crossed we can release it at some point, but I cannot make any promises I’m afraid.

An early update today huh? And some good content too.
Mike, are we going to be getting MGS Peacewalker next week – and if so, on the regular Wednesday store update, or on Friday [the 18th]?
Really looking forward to seeing what Sony has in store for us at E3

It’ll be out at the same time as it hits the retail shelves, so some of you will get on Thursday, and some on Friday (next week).

”Most weeks I debate about which decide which content to highlight” Mike sorry is that a mistake? If it isn’t sorry XD
I wanted to ask you would you give this idea to whoever is in charge of it but I was wondering would Sony make a new disc start splash screen or even give us the old one back
I know that is a bit of a weird request but I miss it:)
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 11:21 am by Mike Kebby
Yeah, a mistake, it’s been corrected now
I miss it too…I know it’s a strange thing to miss, but I really do.

@78 hey I’m sure it’s probably a fine game but after being told the same thing many times before and finding out I hated the game I just wasted money on I’m just too wary now and I don’t have £10 to just use on a game I don’t know if I’ll enjoy or not. Fat Princess was a good game and I paid £11.99 but I’ve hardly ever got to play it as the online speeds have been atrocious and every match I play is just a super lag-fest despite having perfectly find speeds in all other online games I play so yeah I wasted my money there.

Positive: This week’s update seems excellent. Really looking forward to playing Joe Danger, good to see the PSP essentials available, some great price reductions on show and I am enjoying FirstPlay with the free Minis.
Negative: The timing of the PSN maintenance could not really be worse. It is a real kick in the teeth to Hello Games, a brand new indie developer, to shut the store on the day of their big release. That is certainly no way to build strong relationships with new game developers, and it will also have disappointed a huge number of customers looking forward to downloading the game this evening.
It would surely have been a better idea to schedule the maintenance for a Monday, which would have avoided disrupting this week’s new releases and any weekend store traffic.
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 11:35 am by Mike Kebby
I know it’s frustrating timing, and believe me I’d rather not have had it going on when a much anticipated game is releasing, but unfortunately it was unavoidable, these things need to be done.

I can’t help myself asking why MGS(5) Peace Walker is coming out next week in Europe. I understand that some stores may not have gotten the UMD version yet, but there is no reason why the DL version on the PSstore is pushed back one week. I know that it probably wasn’t Sony’s decision, but still kind of lame. But I do want to buy Joe Danger though, looks like an awesome game
89
Posted on 9 June, 2010 at 11:22 am by imajinetion
@86, yeah I agree. Poor developers that have to suffer because of these maintenance. Can’t be good for business.

Mike, do you know if any Castlevania games is planned to be released on the european Playstation Stores?
I would love to see Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Castlevania Chronicles in the european PSS, as they have been released in NA PSS as PS One Classics, and I also would love to be able to buy Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles (PSP game).
Thank you for answering our questions and for doing what you do!
