The announcement of LittleBigPlanet 2 is some of the best news we’ve had here on the PlayStation Blog. You can’t wait to see what Media Molecule come up with and they can’t wait to see what you do with it. I’m just thrilled about the whole lot!
I recently visited their new offices and caught up with Alex Evans and Mark Healey; check out the video below to see what we spoke about.
While I was there, the team had invited the best LBP creators in the community to drink lots of energy drinks, eat barbecued food and spend 24 hours on LBP2. How cool is that? We’ll hopefully be seeing the fruits of that mass create-a-thon here on the PlayStation Blog very soon.

It was a glorious day in Guildford and a really fun interview to shoot. Sorry I’ve not been as responsive to comments as I’d like to be – I’ve been in the sky all day and have just checked into my LA hotel and need a jumbo sleep in time for the big day tomorrow. Don’t forget to follow it live here on the blog!

Little Big Planet was excellent. I like platformers and offline-Coop is always welcome. The only thing that could possibly spoil LBP 2 for me would be some ridiculously time consuming online trophies. The Heart system in LBP1 was just okay. On the other hand, Singstar’s 1000 4* ratings are simply nearly impossible. There are only around 22 people who achieved the platinum trophy by now (http://www.ps3trophyguide.com/t/view/36/0).
Mod Nation Racers “Star Creator” is the next ridiculous Trophy that could spoil the platinum. Really, what do developpers have in mind when they come up with such ridiculous online trophies? Do they even realize that in the end such simple things could possibly spoil the whole game? After reading through some forums I realized that the long loading times and the ridiculous online trophies have totally spoiled the game for many people

Well, LBP2 will easily be one of the best games in the near future. MM can’t do much wrong, since the whole concept is excellent. My wife is very fond of the sackboy systems and chooses a different outfit every 3 levels. The only thing that I fear is that MM comes up with a trophy like get 1000 hearts or play 2000 levels online or anything similar meaning that you have to put hundreds of hours in creating things or playing online levels. I simply do not have such insane amounts of spare time since I have to work 40+ hours per week.
Somehow I find it pretty rude that developpers are choosing such time consuming requirements. A few years ago, when i was at school and university, I would not have mind. But nowadys, when I have 1 hour per day for gaming on weekdays, I feel somehow ripped off. If you see the trophies as the way the developpers want the gamers to play the game I simply get the feeling, that I am not the target group of the game. Since I pay the same amount for the game as everyone I find it somehow unfair. Its like I am getting a penalty for not having that much free time.

In some way online trophies are generally unfair since not every gamer has an internet connection at home and a single online trophy can spoil the platinum trophy…
Since MM is a first party developper the trophies should be fair. Therefore I do really hope that the trophies will be fair like in the first LBP. 8,31 % have earned the platinum Trophy. ModNation Racers was in my opinion a bad example of trophies in a play/create/share game. There are only 2 ppl that got the platinum by now (http://www.ps3trophyguide.com/t/view/300/0). I wonder if that really was the intention….
