It felt appropriate seeing MotorStorm Apocalypse in London’s Fabric nightclub. With hard dance music throbbing out of the cutting-edge sound system and a selection of journalists seated on the vibrating dance floor, we were presented with the third MotorStorm festival on PlayStation 3.
The premise this time around, Evolution Studios’ Matt Southern explains to us in this video interview, is urban off-road racing. This is not a post-apocalyptic city; you’re there during the apocalypse and every second of every race you’re bombarded with earthquakes, explosions and other environmental madness.
For sheer lunatic ambition the team at Evolution Studios are hard to beat and with MotorStorm Apocalypse they seem to have outdone themselves. Quite simply, you’re racing through a city as the world ends around you.

This is gonna be one awesome game.
I really happy though that u gonna implement 3 difficulty modes, cause DAMN pacific rift was difficult. I kinda gave up on it cause of that.
So good to hear u changing it for the casual driver too

Wow it looks to be on a whole other level to Pacific Rift in terms of chaos and sense of speed. Really impressed.

Still unsure about this game. I’m big into Pacific Rift and I still feel that moving to the city is distancing away from what I percieved motorstorm to be about. I also think these ‘new’ vehicle classes (apart from the choppers) are just simply sub-classes inside the rally car and bike vehicle types.
Having said that, I like what you guys are doing for the connectivity of the game and the customisability towards game styles and visual upgrades (maybe not so much performance, so long as its balanced rather than a cumulitive upgrade system like Need for Speed). I look forward to seeing what game modes will be possible in the full title.

How’s it anymore like Burnout than the previous Motorstorms really? It’s set in a city now sure but I don’t recall cities in Burnout all falling down around you and I’m sure it still plays like Motorstorm. They’re both my favorite racing franchises and I can’t decide between them cos they both feel and play differently.
