Having had more cups of coffee than hours of sleep over the last week, it’s time to fly back to London, after watching England vs. Algeria, of course.
For me, E3 started on Tuesday when Jeff Rubenstein and I wrote a live blog from the SCEA press conference. It was a real pleasure visiting the Shrine Auditorium; it’s a superb venue, vast and lavish, and the stage design was top notch.
My favourite parts of the presentation were seeing Killzone 3 in 3D and learning that one of my favourite series is being released on PS3 in High Definition in The Sly Collection.
On Wednesday lunchtime my colleague Frank and I tried something new: we spent an hour and a half in the official PlayStation Forums answering people’s E3 questions. We even got the developers behind MotorStorm Apocalypse, SingStar, Gran Turismo 5, PlayStation Move and LittleBigPlanet 2 to pop along and answer some more specific questions. It went really well and I reckon we’ll be up for doing it again at gamescom.
I’ve spent the rest of the week touring the show floor and interviewing the minds behind some of the third party titles I’m most looking forward to, including FIFA 11, Dead Rising 2 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit; look out for the resulting posts here on the PlayStation Blog next week.
How can I summarise E3 for those of you that have never been? It’s loud, busy and, for those of us that have to try and cover it, relentless. It’s also a huge arena burgeoning with creativity and forward thinking. For people that work in the games industry, it’s incredibly motivating to see, every single year, such commitment to innovation from some of the most modest geniuses you’re ever likely to meet.
Thank you all for making it possible.

Thanks for the coverage.
Sometimes work can be hell
Any chance we’ll see you in Cologne in August ?

Nah, I can’t have any complaints about being flown out to LA to talk about games. I don’t know what the Cologne plans are yet but it wouldn’t surprise me if the powers that be tell me to pack my bags.

Great show as always, I almost went this year, but I didn’t have time unfortunately. Maybe next year if I can.
I’m looking forward to meeting you guys at GamesCom in Cologne in two months time. I went solo from our website last year, but with 2 other journalists joining me from our site this year, maybe I’ll actually have the time to swing by and say hallo, James

That would be excellent. In fact, when I get back we’re going to talk about perhaps running a community event around gamescom, like Jeff does in the US. I’d really like to put faces to the PSN IDs.

E3 was fantastic but very tiring – and i only followed it on the internet! I appreciate the hard work that went into the coverage and thanks also for the lead-up with previous E3 articles, there were some geat memories there.
Speaking of memories i have very fond ones of playing NFS Hot Pursuit 2 on my PS2 ( still have the disc) so seeing the new one revealed was an awesome moment for me.
I was expecting to see The Last Guardian pop up any moment during the press conf. but now i guess it’ll be Gamescom..?

too bad we couldnt see killzone2 in 3d, so for my part this e3 wasnt worth it.
We didnt get an Uncharted 3 announcement, no footage from last guardian or ff13versus either.
Ending the show with Metal Twisted? didnt Gametrailers Pachter say for like 3- weeks ago its coming? And didnt David Djaffe on his blog show some clown mask?
I mean, we all expected it to come, and it looked “allright”… but so did M.A.G…

I forgot to ask you to find any infomation on Tales of Vesperia coming to the PS3 for EU while you are at E3.
I would even take “there are no plans” statement or “we are not making it”.

That match was terrible. Looks like we won’t make the round of 16 after seeing Slovenia’s games this year.
Speaking of Dead Rising 2: Confirmed release date?

Hmm,
is there gonna be any new PSP firmware sometime soon?
It really needs game folders(i have 30+ PSN downloaded games, have to scroll down long list) also it needs 2nd analog stick assignment when connecting PSPgo to a dualshock.

Cheer for the coverage James, there was a lot of cool stuff I’m pretty hyped for at E3. Loved the Twisted Metal demo, it looks insane.
Another highlight was seeing Gabe come on stage and announce Portal 2. I’d love to know what it took to get him there and who put more pressure on him, EA or Sony…lol Either way I’m glad he seems to have changed his tune, Valve are among the best at what they do.

I can’t wait for, “The Sly Collection” either, since I only completed Sly 1 & 3, but not 2, so here’s my chance to experience Sly 2, and the others all-in-one disc! On my favourite platform, with DualShock 3 Support, PlayStation Move Support, Trophy-Support, Redefined in HD, & in Stereoscopic 3D (Active/Passive)!

Hey Playstation, how come us gamers over here in Europe don`t have the E3 Home Space? I feel that we are being left (again) and it would have been nice to walk about it!
