Tomorrow is the day that MAG fans have been waiting for as our first major DLC, “Interdiction,” will be made available for purchase from the PlayStation Store for €7.99\£6.29.
If you missed our post detailing Interdiction a few weeks back, allow us to sum it up for you:
MAG Interdiction is a brand new game mode built for 128 players. In it, two rival attacking factions fight to gain control of three different command posts while using armoured convoys for every squad on the map (that’s right, 16 APCs onscreen at once!). To earn the victory, teams must capture and hold as many objectives as possible to increase their score while simultaneously decreasing their opponents’ score across three all-new “faction neutral” maps (Iron Creek Quarry, Lake Bayano Spur, and Sovot Motorway).
In addition to the new maps and gametype, Interdiction will also include the most powerful protection in the game, the “Heavy Improved” armour set, as well as a number of new in-game ribbons, medals and trophies. Here’s a reminder of what you can expect:
Ribbons
- Jump Start – Capture 2 Command Posts in a round of Interdiction
- Mowing the Grass – Get 10 kills with a vehicle turret in one round
- Dashed Hopes – Destroy 2 mines with gunfire in one round
- Cannonball Rally – Become an MVP (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) in a round of Interdiction
Medals
- Roadside Assistance – Capture 10 Interdiction control points over your career
- Landscape Architect – Get 50 kills with a vehicle turret over your career
- BOD – Destroy 20 mines with gunfire over your career
- Designated Driver – Earn 5 Interdiction MVPs over your career
Trophies
- King of the Hills (Bronze) – Earn the Roadside Assistance medal while playing Interdiction
- Red Ball Express (Silver) – Earn the Designated Driver medal while playing Interdiction
- Road Runner (Gold) – Capture 3 Interdiction control points in a single round
As a special “thank you” to everyone who’s playing MAG this week, we’re also bringing back our popular “Double XP” promotion over the weekend. That means that whether you purchase our new Interdiction DLC or not, you can expect to grab twice as much experience for your battlefield efforts starting Friday, June 25 (at 7:01am GMT\8:01am CET). Just be sure to finish any game you start in order to benefit from the additional XP, as folks who leave a game early won’t receive the bonus. Our Double XP Weekend ends on Sunday, June 27 at 11:59pm Pacific Time (6:59am GMT\7:59am CET).
Oh, and one final note: All MAG players will have to download a small “Interdiction Activation Patch” starting today. It’s only 4MB in size and prepares your copy of MAG to be compatible with the Interdiction game mode. Again, Interdiction itself can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store for €7.99\£6.29 and weighs in at 440MB.
Thanks to all our fans for keeping us going these past five months – see you on the Sovot!

When yous release the next patch for this game and all the freezes,5.5 disconnects, new bugs from 1.06 patch and lag issues are fixed then I’ll buy this DLC but only if theres enough people playing online by then because your waiting 20 minutes as it is for a game of domination or aquisition

i think its unfair that eu countries have to wait an extra day for dlc’s to become availible in the psn store. usa is always first in the line to recieve updates. is there a reason for this madness?

how long do we have to wait until ps store will be updated so that i and the rest of europe can purchase this dlc and finally start playing instead of watching americans fill up the interdiction rooms? if you release this at 11.59pm like you have done with past releases i will not be happy and will be forced to complain until i have been acknowledged. so please sony sort it out now!

This is BS! come on i want that new DLC, and americans get it first, why isn’t it at the same time when the americans can get it?
Anyone knows when the time is that PS store is updated?

yea DeejayStreet youre in the same boat as me. i cant understand why there cant be a worldwide update. as paying customers and ps3 supporters we ought to be treated equally and fairly. this is bang out of order

as no one from sony is prepared to awnser any of our questions regarding the update i called sony helpline.
i spoke to an advisor and he informed me that ps store updates happen between 4.30pm-6.30pm.
hope this helps calm the nerves.

After queuing bare time i just got kicked for no reason what so ever in the first 30 secs of the game, medics dont heal, bullets magicly fly around corners, i knew there was a reason i stoped playing this agess ago
i dont see why you would bring another game mode when there isnt even enough people playing to populate the ones you have
my copys just about to go ebay

yea i agree about the bullets flying round corners its a big problem that ruins gameplay.
as for the new game mode, it is quite worrying that alot of players will leave the original game modes and only play interdiction. hardly anyone plays aquisition anymore and i really need the PRECIOUS CARGO trophy for platinum. how am i meant to get it if no one plays it?
zipper should have brought this pack out a long time ago as it has got very tedious for players to play the same over and over.

Or update the freaking store!

yea they shouldve kept this free..this is just seperating MAG players into ‘buyers’ and ‘not buyers’..and the mode itself doesnt even look all that fun to me, i pretty much always play the smaller team based sabotage mode..im just getting it for the heavy armor + mostly..too bad its pretty expensive too..but im getting it just out of respect for the game and the previous (free) dlc’s (keep that up btw :p)..
i never liked the socom series but i love this game..i hope socom 4′s controlls get revamped too..

i tried this again last night, and the patches in the interim have made it even more unbalanced, especially towards sver. on their acquisition map it was nearly 6 minutes before *anyone* on my squad took out a player from sver. i only really liked acquisition which practically nobody plays anymore if the player numbers are accurate, one of the factions didn’t even have enough to form the 64 players needed, so it took ages to get a game. it’s easier to find games in KZ2 and that’s been out nearly 18 months! i don’t like domination at all.. while i can tolerate sabotage, it’s basically a poor version of rush from battlefield. the shooting mechanics and erratic hit detection still haven’t been addressed. there were around 1000 players on the new mode, but for how long.. i think the new maps and game modes should have been given away free to keep any interest in the game, and find some other way to monetise it.. the existing game modes will have less players, which will increase wait times, leading to even more player players leaving.

How hard can it be for sony to just press the damn update button, av been wait all month for this to come out and now its here i can’t get it cos i live in the UK??? whats that all about? I paid the same good money for both my ps3 and a copy of mag as the americans did but they are the ones who get the new download first, as mentioned before in one of the comments the americans will have complete knowledge of maps and tactics on the new game mode – a day or so ahead of us in the UK. Just stupid, update us already!!! its not often i get a babysitter for my son!!!

the american store updates on tuesday because retail releases come out there on tuesdays. in a lot of europe it is wednesdays which is why the eu stores update on wednesdays. if this was a retail a release, you’d be waiting until friday in the UK!
