Digital Comics Store Update (23rd June 2010)

Phew, what a week! We have a new publisher, a new version of the Reader and 102 new comics including 5 free comics.

If you didn’t know already, our new publisher is none other than the mighty DC Comics! Go read the announcement post, watch the video and then come back… Okay? Pretty awesome, hey? I hope you are as happy as we are here in the Digital Comics team.

The other news this week is the release of version 2 of the Digital Comics reader. This version offers a whole host of tweaks requested by you guys, including the ability to delete comics directly through the application. This post details all the new features and how to upgrade.

So let’s have a look at what we have in store:

From DC Comics we have over 80 comics featuring some rather well known characters. Catch up with Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Fables…argh I don’t know where to start.

Interestingly DC are releasing a 10 page free preview of Superman #700 and Justice League Generation Lost #4 the same day they are hitting the shops. Let’s hope this trend continues.

Great news for gaming fans as we have God of War, Mirror’s Edge & Resistance comics on the store.

As a special gift from DC they are also offering you 5 free comics to whet your appetite, these are:

From Marvel there is some good news for those of you following Spidey’s One More Day story arc. Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (2005) #24 fills the gap! We also have more Astonishing Tales.

Finally there is more Cancertown from Insomnia, and for the younguns, Disney have Cinderella and Titan have another Wallace & Gromit.

Hey! Yep, we are still eagerly waiting for Locke & Key. No news for Giant Size but it is encouraging to see the One More Day arc finished!

Any news on when this service will be available in the nordic countries?

Also when it does will all the comics be translated? If yes will it be possible to choose english anyway?

I don’t think you are translating all these comics into Spanish, so why don’t you at least make the comics available in English at the Spanish store?

We’ve got the content (English and Spanish)- we just haven’t been given the Spanish store to sell it yet. When we are told it is ready we’ll let you know.

You guys really should make it a bit more obvious on the store that Superman #700 is just a preview. For a minute there I thought the actual comic was up on it and free at that. Not so much though. A seperate category for previews might be an idea, like how the games store has a demos section (well the US one anyway, the PAL stores are a bloody mess).

Oh and you guys really need to get around to bringing this to the PS3 already.

The description does mention it is a 10-page story, and it is also free as you say. A dedicated category would be good, maybe when we have more previews.

When do we get this in Norway? And when we get, will we get the same comics that’s been released so far in Europe, and will we get them in English also?
I really hope we’ll get them in English since I don’t care about reading these comics in Norwegian…

Dear god I’m going to spend a lot of money this week!

Two series from DC that people might not be so aware outside of the normal Batman/Superman/Green Lantern books that are highly worth reading are Fables and Planetary.

Its great to see all this DC content this week, but people shouldn’t skip over the 2000AD Prog, Cancertown and The Lexian Chronicles just because of DC. Loads of great content on the store from other publishers as well

A phenomonal update guys. A new version of the reader, a new publisher, no less than DC. A seriously decent selection of comics to start off from them aswell.

Outdid yourselves ppls. I already spent lots on comics just last week too!
