Welcome to what future civilisations may describe as something of a monster week of content. I’m going to be modest and say it’s only slightly monster, but you get the picture; there’s a serious amount of content available this week (before anybody says otherwise, I have not been sitting on it all this time, I promise)
Before we tuck into the main bulk of the update, there are new Special Offers available this week, with some monstrous PixelJunk related goodness on offer amongst other titles, and we also have a collection of Sonic goodies from SEGA on offer to help celebrate the blue one’s 19th birthday. I asked if the spiky one was available to come to the blog to comment, but apparently he’s a game character and doesn’t actually really exist. Shame.
So, onto the new content, let’s head straight into one of the most discussed games in these comment sections of late…The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, yes indeed it’s here at last. Avast mateys! Come and enjoy the piratey goodness that’s in store. Classic gameplay, liberally covered with lovely new splashes of paint, and more Guybrush than you’ll know what to do with, sounds good right?
If you want more, then Battlefield: Bad Company 2 drops new supplies onto the front, with the new Onslaught Mode hitting hard and fast. Adding new multiplayer co-op gameplay elements for you and three friends – thus meaning four players can test their skills across new maps – this is an explosive new addition for all you battlefield veterans out there.
Not enough for you? Well then I hasten to add that we have the latest Sam and Max episode, retro based fun in the form of 3D helicopter adventure game Landit Bandit, Helghast additions to the world of Lost Planet 2 via the Killzone 2 Character Pack and much more besides. There literally is too much for me to try and do justice to through my mere words…therefore, as usual, there’s a full list below.
One final thing to mention, Red Dead Redemption had its first piece of additional content hit the store yesterday in the shape of the Outlaws to the End Co-op Pack, so get downloading for more multiplayer fun in the Wild West…and even better, it’s totally free!
If you’re mean to me this week in the comments I will likely cry (which will probably happen anyway this afternoon if England get beat by Slovenia), so let’s just all bask in the glow of the global harmony the World Cup has brought and only trade compliments this week. Deal?
Cheers all.

@348
i got problems with anything downloaded from the PSN because of slow download speed (for some strange reason) just re-download it again and then should work (my record was re-downloading Burnout Paradise 6 times because of corupted file download

Please tell Atlus that Disgaea 3 is now about £10 and £39.99 for 16 characters recycled from other games and a few missions won’t cut it

No Monkey Island for PSP ?
… why?
358
Posted on 23 June, 2010 at 7:30 pm by FolkoRoco
I just bought Monkey Island and it wont install. Everytime it just gets to 14% and stops with an 80029564 Error.
I deleted the download and redownloaded it – same problem.
What is the problem here? Im desperate to see a three headed monkey!

@358
don’t worry have the same problem with some of the games or updates i download
for some strange reason i got a slow downloading speed on the PSN after about 10-15sec which couses corupted files and then you get the error
just redownload it again and try till it works
as i said before re-downloaded Burnout for about 6 times before it instaled (each time downloading i for about 8-12h) it can be a pain but there is nothing you can doo about (i think)

Still waiting on a bunch of PSOne classics, mind (Tomb Raider Classics and medal of Honor classics), but the store is getting there. I assume this is why I can’t access the store right now on Media Go. But I have every confidence you’ll get there. Keep up the good work
363
Posted on 23 June, 2010 at 8:51 pm by dgnfly
@ggctuk
i would suggest DREAM ON cause that’s the only way you’ll be seeing those games

@dgnfly
Ah, but I have the position to bug Eidos representatives, as I have been doing, and will continue to do until a resolution is found to this. We have at least two Eidos representatives who visit the tombraiderforums site from time to time. Eidos claims to have submitted the games but I wonder if that was before being bought by Square Enix, and if that is the case, perhaps Square Enix’s acquisition has actually null-and-voided the original submissions to the EU PSN.
Either that or the CFW alternative in the future, I’m not fussed either way. SONY should just release a program that converts PSOne discs to PSP format, but I know they’d never do that – they can’t make money with that!

Still waiting for Gundemonium Collection. Any chance it’ll come out in the UK/EU PSN store?

Mike,
Not sure if you’ll read this comment now or not but here goes.
Do you know why I can’t download some of the e3 videos that were put on to the store last week? Most notably for me the GT5 trailer.
When I try to download that one and a couple of others too it tries to download a small image file to my “photo” section.
Any ideas?
Posted on 24 June, 2010 at 9:55 am by Mike Kebby
We had the wrong files on the store, it should be fixed now and the trailer should download without problem.

jeez, people really need to calm down in these PSN Update comment sections. :/
Looking forward to Destruction Derby next week.
Three things:
The sound on Dantes Inferno for PSP is not in synch with the gameplay and is cutting out a lot in FMV sequences. I am aware that it scored badly compared to its PS3 version, but is this issue on the UMD version too?
and
Is there any chance of Devil Dice or Speed Freaks coming out on PSone Classics? That game was fun
and finally,
Will Secret Agent Clank be made downloadable for PSP?
Thank you and I hope you can reply.

Hi Mike,
Cool update, however…
No Monkey-loving for South Africa??

Will the South African Store be getting it later, or will I need to get a job in London like all my other friends? (pretty sure they moved to the UK to get Guitar Hero content)
PLEASE, Mike! We needs it!

Thanks for the info Mike,
I checked it again this morning and the GT5 trailer downloaded perfectly.
Hopefully the guys at PD and your good selves will keep the trailers coming while we count down to November.
Do you know when the details of the collectors edition for the uk will be released Mike?
I’ve had the standard game on preorder since Feb ’08 but I’m thinking of changing it the collectors edition depending on what’s in it and the price.

Are the people who bought Monkey Island going to get a refund/store credit for its current completely unplayable state or will we have to wait for a patch?
I’m extremely dissapointed.

Dear Mike,
On 5th May 2010, the Heads On blog entry had the Disgaea 2 DLC shown as released on all locales. Since then, a lot of people in Europe, at least in the North-Western part of it, or at least around the Benelux, are stating that not only the DLC isn’t present on the store, neither is the game Disgaea 2 itself on the store, despite it still being in the database.
It has been brought to attention by several members in subsequent blog posts, culminating in a statement by you that apparently NIS hasn’t submitted the content yet. This is highly contradicting the aforementioned blog post.
Now I’m not one to complain here, but I do love to know what’s up with this. I’d love to spend my money on something as useless as DLC, but if you people aren’t even doing something about this, I’m not going to spend money on it, mainly because I can’t even spend money on it.
So, in short, DLC for Disgaea 2 on PSP has been announced on the blog on 5th May 2010 on all locales, yet it still doesn’t appear. We’d love to know what’s up with that.
I hope to have informed you well enough.
Sincerely,
- Gary

Hey Mike, I was wondering when Section 8 will be on Special Offer again?
I only found out about it at the last minute from a friend and then my router went haywire so I couldn’t make the purchase. Guess I’ll need to pay more attention to the store updates in future!

Shouldn’t there be more Just Cause 2 content? Read on their webpage that all their DLC was released on all platforms the other day, but there’s a free DLC we haven’t gotten, and I think two other items also.
Do you know anything about this Mike?
