Hello everyone and welcome to another ‘Heads Up’ post courtesy of PSN Store Management. Once again I hold the fort while Mike takes a couple of days to enjoy the sunshine (ie; playing Alpha Protocol in a darkened room somewhere).
Exciting times with the launch of our premium service, PlayStation Plus – keep your eyes peeled for some genuinely spanking offers and additions over the coming months, and for those of you who get on board the Plus train right now with a year’s subscription, you can snag yourself a digital copy of LittleBigPlanet for the princely sum of absolutely nothing. No more getting off the sofa to pop in a Blu-ray, you’ll have to get your physical exercise some other way. I suggest powering your PS3 by exercise bike, but when it doesn’t work you can’t blame me, okay?
Some of you observant types might also have noticed another update yesterday to the ‘All Games A-Z’ section of the store. You spoke (at length) and we listened so now you can find Games, Demos and specific Add-ons for each platform listed alphabetically in one handy area. Of course, if you want to see EVERYTHING that’s available for one title, you can still hit up the PS3 Games and PSP Games sections. We’re working on a few more little tweaks for the Store so keep an eye out in the coming weeks.
So on to the update – For you handheld heroes we’ve got Everybody’s Tennis for your PSP – cracking good fun just like its golf-based predecessors. Also for those of you who are lucky enough to already have Toy Story 3 launch in your country, we’ve got the second round of DLC in the form of Woody’s Round up for you to enjoy. Throw in the latest Buzz! Quiz World pack, two new minis (also for PS3, as usual) and a free level kit for LittleBigPlanet and we’re all set.
All you PS3 types have it pretty good this week too – we’ve got the LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 demo and if you missed Death Track: Resurrection or the criminally under-rated Aqua Panic HD when they released, you can now try these out for free too. We have enormous amounts of DLC for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 for you budding golfers to browse, the Sacktue of Liberty returns for one week only and if you’re not already a Fat Princess convert, we’ve slashed the price just in time for the launch of the Fat Roles expansion pack. Yes, we’re bringing those old Internet favourites, Pirates and Ninjas (and Giants) to the fray. So now you don’t need to debate which is better, just get stuck in and fight it out!
Avatars, Wallpapers and some really awesome new videos for you too this week – don’t forget to check out the new Brink trailers, that one’s looking pretty special.
That’s all from me this week, Mike will be back as usual next time – I’ll reply to comments throughout the afternoon if you promise to be good. Bye for now!

No demos this time?
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:21 pm by Ross McGrath
Hello! Sorry, yeah we’ve got 3 demos for PS3, they were mentioned in my post but we missed them off the listing. These are being added now. Just to confirm these are LEGO Harry Potter, Death Track Resurrection and Aqua Panic HD.

Wow an interesting update – Was kinda hoping there would be more for the PSP ala Neogeo perhaps?

Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:06 pm by Moogrose
Would have been nice for Everybodys tennis to be better priced in europe (20 dollars in the us to 27 euros, hmmm). Never the less, loved the demo so i’ll bite.

No new games?
By the way, now that we have a rating system in place, it would be cool to sort content by rating.

Weak Update: US got Lego Harry Potter Demo and Infamous FULL Download. EU/DE Stores got more and more disappointing
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:23 pm by Ross McGrath
Well, actually we DO have the LEGO Harry Potter demo, and yes, the US Store got inFamous, but then they didn’t get a free copy of LBP for new Plus Subscribers and what’s more, the inFamous full game trial is in mext month’s Plus package. So you’re not THAT hard done by really are you? Hmm?

Nice update, but nothing for me…
Is there any expected release date for the game “Castle Crashers”?

Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:07 pm by AaronSOLDIER
Wait so Lego Harry Potter demo is for PS+ only yet America got it for normal users yesterday? Um, ok…
Also what about inFamous?

the day i have cash and we get a poor update lol damn you kebby , good job on ratings system but im gutted psn plus alienates me from subbing coz i have bought a vast amount of the content already .
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:26 pm by Ross McGrath
Hey Seany, yeah I can understand that you’ll probably have a lot of the initial Plus content already (I know I do) from this month’s pool but I bet you anything you like that over the course of the year you’d still get a lot of the value back. If you subscribe of course. No pressure.

I’m not Mike! This always happens.
I’d say keep watching this space, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I wouldn’t mind LBP on my 500GB drive. I do tend to play games more when I don’t have to be swapping the discs about all the time. Don’t feel much like getting PlayStation Plus yet though. There still isn’t much else in it for me. Not much on the store this week for me either.
Any news on Bloody Roar 2 PS1 by the way?

Glad not a lot for me this week after dropping my £40 to get a golden + but a great price on Super Stardust HD.

Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:10 pm by QenTox
It is great to see, that you are improving PS Store adding new features, content and so on, but do you have any news about PS Store coming to new countries? Many of my PS fan site members are eagerly waiting for a PS Store coming to Slovakia. Even Xbox Live is coming to our country, so it seems like it is going to be a big loss for Sony, if they don’t catch up

Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:10 pm by X_ThePerfect
Think there has been a slight slip up. You mention the Lego Harry Potter demo in your blurb, but it seems to be missing from the list! Or is it really only a + demo?

Ah, they’re sending in the sub again this week… ;D
Excellent stuff, glad to see Fat Princess at a better price now, been holding out for that one and will probably pick it up now with the added bonus of splitscreen.
Also great work with the ratings system and the newly sorted A-Z section! Looks so much better and was able to casually just browse through the demos at will yesterday.
A few features i’d like to see: Top rated content, seperate lists for top rated games/demos/add-ons/themes/whatever would be a great feature.
Cheers R00s!

Always glad to get your feedback – we’re always looking to improve the store in line with consumer demand so suggestions are very welcome – keep them coming by all means.

Now you just have to get it on to the PSP store.

Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:16 pm by aat08
Poor update. Besides, what is the reason behind the lack of Street Fighter avatars that were released yesterday in SCEA territory? Is it such a colossal challenge to localize 5 icons?
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:53 pm by Ross McGrath
Nothing to do with localisation I’m afraid – bear in mind they’re not just “pictures”, they appear all over the extended PlayStation network like the .com site, the blog, XMB, etc. The SSFIV avatars are coming, I promise you faithfully.

Another bad update for PSP owners. No psone games. Only 1 psp game added and not much else.
Yet again, we have to wait another 7 days for something good.

Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:16 pm by C_L_O_U_D_M_A_N
Ross, you forgot to add the Lego Harry Potter demo to the list.
Also; I signed up to Plus yesterday and have a few questions;
It seems you have a month and a week or so to download what’s given to you. So if I download Wipeout HD right now, and delete it in a week, will I be able to re-download it after the game’s expiration date?
Also, is it fair to assume that any game you get a Plus discount on won’t be appearing as a free downloadable game later on in the year?
Thanks
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:59 pm by Ross McGrath
Hey Cloudman –
Good hypothetical! Although you really shouldn’t ever delete WipEout HD because it’s awesome and has the best soundtrack in any game ever. (My opinions are my own!)
So, to answer your first question, if you download something during the offer period (lets use WipEout as an example) and then delete it, even after the offer period for that item ends you can still go and find the game on the store and download it again, for free, as long as you’re still a Plus subscriber. Doesn’t matter if it’s month 4, 6 or 9, etc, you can still get the content you’re entitled to. But make sure you download it initially within that month period. Does that make sense?
As for the other question – that’s one for Mr. Thorpe.

this update is an example of why Ill never join playstation+, they shouldn’t be messing around just giving us content theyve had on for ages for a little discount or for free, I already have everything I want from the current PSN, so theres no point in joining PS+, but instead sony should be getting some balance between regions, this is ridiculus, each week I come on and ask a question that never gets answered, “when do we get this, america have had it for over a year”, never got an answer. And the excuse of “developers choose what to put on and when and we cant make them do anything” is bull, game developers or people who own the rights to the games we want are in the business of making money, they arent going to pass up an opportunity to make some.
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 3:42 pm by Ross McGrath
We only say the same thing every week because it continues to be true.
“game developers or people who own the rights to the games we want are in the business of making money, they arent going to pass up an opportunity to make some”
And right there you’ve made my point for me. If we could publish everything we wanted, when we wanted, we’d do it! I really am sorry that you’re frustrated but you have to admit the mainstream content from other publishers doesn’t usually take that long to cross the pond and the games and content Sony publishes are usually deployed worldwide pretty quickly.

Is there any thoughts on when us PSP GO owners might get a chance to play LEGO Harry Potter. Its a brand new game, just released on UMD and it would be nice to see it also on the Store, just so I dont feel regret in getting the GO and getting rid of my PSP 3000.

I was gonna buy the Street Fighter costumes but it seems I already have this weeks one. It was the pre-order bonus from GAME so I’ve had it since the game came out. Saves me a few quid then

Hi Ross, cheers for the update!
Could you confirm that we are going to be getting Monkey Island 2 next week? I wasn’t sure if it was a worldwide release date or not, cheers

The Special Edition of Monkey Island 2 will be published worldwide on lots of platforms on July 7th – our platform is no exception.

Wait, the Harry Potter demo is for Plus users only? Yet America got it for everyone? Hilarious.
Playstation plus wouldn’t bother me if it was a way to give free games and DLC (not free since you’re paying for a subscription but you know what I mean), and the guarantee of getting into betas and special offers is fine. What annoys me is the exclusive crap. So from what I’ve read, there’ll be exclusive DLC for plus users? That bugs me. If I buy a game, I would expect that I’d be able to do everything anyone else would with it, including buying DLC. I have no problem with plus users being given that DLC for free or at a reduced price, but if the conent is restricted only to them then that sucks. Also, exclusive demos just dumbfounds me. Isn’t the point of a demo to advertise? Why restrict that?

I don’t know where you got the idea the Harry Potter demo is for Plus users only, because it’s not.

Not buying anything from PSN now, just going to wait to see what Playstation Plus offers for months 3 and 4.
Shame SCEE / SONY hasn’t put more thought into that, especially for launch owners.

Thanks for the update blog post.
As others have mentioned, Ross, you quoted in your opening paragraphs, “All you PS3 types have it pretty good this week too – we’ve got the LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 demo…”, but there is no mention of the Demo (just “Wallpapers 3 and 4″ for the PS3 & “Wallpapers 1, 2, 3 and 4″ for the PSP platforms) in the summarised list.
Is this on oversight?
BFN,

This’ll be fixed by now and the list updated. Thanks for actually reading what I wrote though.

Thanks for finally giving us a Demo section on the store.
Btw, while browsing ps3 games a-z ,Flow seems to be missing.

Very good spot! Apologies for this, I’ll get it sorted out asap. Don’t worry, it’s still in the PS3 Games section, we haven’t got rid of it.
