Hello everyone and welcome to another ‘Heads Up’ post courtesy of PSN Store Management. Once again I hold the fort while Mike takes a couple of days to enjoy the sunshine (ie; playing Alpha Protocol in a darkened room somewhere).
Exciting times with the launch of our premium service, PlayStation Plus – keep your eyes peeled for some genuinely spanking offers and additions over the coming months, and for those of you who get on board the Plus train right now with a year’s subscription, you can snag yourself a digital copy of LittleBigPlanet for the princely sum of absolutely nothing. No more getting off the sofa to pop in a Blu-ray, you’ll have to get your physical exercise some other way. I suggest powering your PS3 by exercise bike, but when it doesn’t work you can’t blame me, okay?
Some of you observant types might also have noticed another update yesterday to the ‘All Games A-Z’ section of the store. You spoke (at length) and we listened so now you can find Games, Demos and specific Add-ons for each platform listed alphabetically in one handy area. Of course, if you want to see EVERYTHING that’s available for one title, you can still hit up the PS3 Games and PSP Games sections. We’re working on a few more little tweaks for the Store so keep an eye out in the coming weeks.
So on to the update – For you handheld heroes we’ve got Everybody’s Tennis for your PSP – cracking good fun just like its golf-based predecessors. Also for those of you who are lucky enough to already have Toy Story 3 launch in your country, we’ve got the second round of DLC in the form of Woody’s Round up for you to enjoy. Throw in the latest Buzz! Quiz World pack, two new minis (also for PS3, as usual) and a free level kit for LittleBigPlanet and we’re all set.
All you PS3 types have it pretty good this week too – we’ve got the LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4 demo and if you missed Death Track: Resurrection or the criminally under-rated Aqua Panic HD when they released, you can now try these out for free too. We have enormous amounts of DLC for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 for you budding golfers to browse, the Sacktue of Liberty returns for one week only and if you’re not already a Fat Princess convert, we’ve slashed the price just in time for the launch of the Fat Roles expansion pack. Yes, we’re bringing those old Internet favourites, Pirates and Ninjas (and Giants) to the fray. So now you don’t need to debate which is better, just get stuck in and fight it out!
Avatars, Wallpapers and some really awesome new videos for you too this week – don’t forget to check out the new Brink trailers, that one’s looking pretty special.
That’s all from me this week, Mike will be back as usual next time – I’ll reply to comments throughout the afternoon if you promise to be good. Bye for now!

Not a bad update, just one question are there any PSOne Classics in the pipeline?
Thanks
P.S Laughed out loud about where Mike is
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 3:34 pm by Ross McGrath
Honestly, he only likes Alpha Protocol because the lead character is called Mike and all the characters in the game address him by name… don’t tell him I said that.
There are more PSOne titles in the works, yes, some that have been requested in these fair blog posts as well.

Lego Harry Potter demo is welcome, and I will be dropping my £40 for Plus very soon

Yo Ross
Wasn’t there anyway to incorporate more choice into PSN+ regarding the free games since most of the people who sign up will most likely of bought alot of things off the store already. Could’t a variety of titles been offered and you are able to chose one to get for free. An example would be we get LBP when we sigh up and the USA get infamous, couldn’t both of these been placed on the store and u chose which you want to get for free. Seems like that would make a good few more ppl sign up since i think quite a few people won’t sign up because they already hav content like LBP but they may not have infamous.
just a suggestion
. decent update, already got fat princess dlc yesterday but nothing else for me.
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 3:35 pm by Ross McGrath
Hey Lcslick – all your Plus suggestions need to go to James – he’s still looking after the blog post from yesterday, I’m sure he’d welcome the feedback.

comic reader on ps3 aswell is needed

I’m just wondering about the Tuk Tuk Boom Boom for Just Cause 2. I do believe that this were advertised to come to PS3 along with the recent DLC additions. What’s the story from the Store’s PoV? Also, isn’t there some things missing from the CE content, for instance Rico’s Signature Gun?
It kind of sucks that I have the Bull’s Eye Rifle with the bundle from the CE but cannot rate it because I have not brought it. That gun is pure awesome.

can i ask a question? How can i download little big planet?I have 1 year subscription to psn plus, but i can’t find lbp in the ps store
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 3:45 pm by Ross McGrath
If you’ve got the year’s subscription then the game will automagically appear in the Plus list, it should be right after the Playstation Plus video.

Where is inFamous Ross? It’s a Sony title! There shouldn’t be any legal issues. Are SCEE upholding their frustrating tradition of withholding content for the fun of it?
GIVE US INFAMOUS NOW…..PLEASE!!!!!!
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 3:46 pm by Ross McGrath
Excuse me, we do not withold content for the fun of it!
SCEA get inFamous this month, we get it in August.

Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:30 pm by C_L_O_U_D_M_A_N
I can assure you fellows the Lego Harry Potter demo is not Plus-exclusive. We were given this month’s content yesterday.
@Lcslick
Completely agree with you. I’m still pretty satisfied by Plus so far (especially with Age of Zombies!) but a little bit of freedom in choice would’ve been great. LBP was a bad choice too. I was hoping they’d offer the free copy of LBP as a redeemable code so I could give it to someone else (as I already have it), but no dice for me.
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 3:47 pm by Ross McGrath
Well, you can always give away your Blu-ray copy – that’s the same thing!

Yeah *HOY* Where’s my “Tuk Tuk Boom Boom” ??
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 3:51 pm by Ross McGrath
Just spoken to the lovely lady who looks after Square Enix – both the Tuk Tuk Boom Boom AND Rico’s Signature gun should be making their way onto the store next week, or the week after at the very, very latest. We’ll do what we can to make it next week. Scout’s honour.

Ross, Will we be seeing any new games for the PSP in the following weeks? I know you’re not at liberty to reveal too much, but just a heads up would be nice.
My poor PSP Go is begging for my attention
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:03 pm by Ross McGrath
Yeah mine too! Although I’m still playing Peace Walker, that game is ENORMOUS. Definitely not playing Cover Girl like I might have accidentally said on Twitter. I only play MANLY games. Grrr.
Anyway… yeah, we do have some more PSP content coming up, of course, across lots of different genres. Some shooting ones, some RPG ones, some platformy ones… Sorry, you’ve probably guessed I can’t let you know right now. :/

How much is Everybody’s Tennis with PS Plus members?
68
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:38 pm by mrfodder
Was tempted to get Everbody’s Tennis, but at that price I think not. UK £17, US $20 then EU €27 that just nuts!

I bought Tomb Raider 1 at a car boot sale on Sunday, would love to see the PS1 Tomb Raider’s on the Store, and Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3. Then my PS1 collection is complete.
Could you maybe look into whether and of the above could be coming to the Store Ross? Even if there’s no news I’d like to know just so I don’t get my hopes up. Thanks
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:10 pm by Ross McGrath
There’s an ongoing saga surrounding the publishing rights of these classic Capcom games (not Tomb raider ofc) which you can probably read about over on the Capcom forums. I can’t really go into specifics but we’ve been working on trying to resolve these for some time now – as soon as we know we’ll let you know right away. I’m as eager to replay Resident Evil 2 as anyone.

Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 2:42 pm by izekial27
My comment relates to Playstation Plus.
Can you please arrange for us to be able to choose what is automatically downloaded to the console.
I DO NOT want demos to auto download at all, i only want updates to download.
Please can you pass this feedback to the relevant people.
As a paid subscriber i want to control what gets sent to my console.
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:12 pm by Ross McGrath
PLease direct all comments surrounding Plus functionality to Mr. James Thorpe – there’s a blog post that went up yesterday that he’s taking care of.

Sorry Roxas, I wish there was more we could do but it really is up to them to gauge the demand. If they think it’s profitable to release the game here then they will.

Hi Ross, any chance of the Toro ‘Sony Cat’ dynamic themes coming to the European store? We got to buy him in LittleBigPlanet and Everybody’s Golf, how we want him as our backdrop!

I read that the Full Game Trials for next month was Infernal Pool and Mushroom Wars as per below:
Posted on 23 June by James Thorpe – PlayStation Network Product Manager
Month 2: August 4th – September 1st
PSN PS3: Zen Pinball
minis: Blast-Off, Alien Zombie Death
PSone: Medievil
Full Game Trial: Inferno Pool, Mushroom Wars
Discounts: Zen Pinball Earth Defence Table – 20%, Warhawk Triple Combo Pack – 50%, Super Stardust HD – 20%, WipeOutHD Fury – 20%
Premium Game Elements: Motorstorm Pacific Rift: Adrenaline Pack
Push Demo: Flower, Pixel Junk Shooter
Themes: “SCEE produced: PlayStation + Dynamic Theme (in production), Heavy Rain Crime Scene Theme
2 x Heavy Rain Avatars (Bird and Butterfly)
Can we get confirmation that inFamous is the Full Game Trial for next month and not Inferno Pool? This inconsistency in the information being published is pretty frustrating.
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:38 pm by Ross McGrath
Yes, I can confirm, 100%, that it’s InFamous and not Inferno Pool that is the full game trial next month. Sorry about the communication issues – everything’s somewhat hectic on our end!
James is getting that post updated that you’ve copied from.

Welcome back Ross!
I don’t suppose you could shed any light on when Grandia will hit the PS1 classics could you?
Been waiting for quite some time now.
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:39 pm by Ross McGrath
Hey Ikkarus – Bad news I’m afraid – it was delayed fior a little while so it won’t be quite as soon as I first indicated, but it’s still not too far off. Keep the faith, Grandia is coming.

Hey, so this is my first time postng on the blog so yay!
My question involes the free LBP that you get with playstation plus.
I already own the blu-ray disc and have save games, trophies and DLC. If i decied to trade that in and just use the free copy i get with PS+ will i keep my trophies? will the DLC work?
I dont mind starting a new game or having to download dlc again but as long as it all works and my trophies dont get counted twice or not at all.
Thanks in advance
(also that age of zombies mini is amazing!!!)
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:43 pm by Ross McGrath
Welcome harry – you are most welcome!
Good news – this has been tested thoroughly and the answer is that yes, your save games and trophy list should be preserved just fine.

Ross, shouldn’t there be some sort of page break tag to hide the list part of the article from the front page?

No list of what PSN+ costumers get? Even tho it was released yesterday it should be listed here?
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:45 pm by Ross McGrath
Actually Mike and James had this discussion and decided that the list is freely available in James’ update, so it wasn’t necessary to list it again here, especially since it’ll only change once a month. You said it yourself, it was only published yesterday.

also since we’re on the subject of RPG’s, how about Final Fantasy 1 and Final Fantasy 2, Star Ocean First Departure and Star Ocean Second Evolution for PSP?

At risk that the universe may implode in a sea of flaming.
Am I right in spotting that paid PS+ subscribers get 20% off Super Stardust next month, whereas everyone (presumably including PS+ users), gets around 80% off this week?
If yes, does this seem sane?

Always good to see EA offer such great value with near £100 of DLC out the same month as the game!

Ross – Mike was going to see about getting “Know Your Enemy” added back into the “Rock Band” section a few weeks back, and it hasn’t happened as yet… is there anything that you can do to speed it along?
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:45 pm by Ross McGrath
I can ask Harmonix for you, how about that? On it!

Thanks for the reply Ross, glad it works that way. The only reason I’d delete Wipeout HD (or any game for that matter) would be to free up space to download new games. I only have a crappy 40GB PS3, y’see!
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:33 pm by Ross McGrath
Ah, I used to be a 40gig guy myself – drop the 50 Euros on a 500gig! They’re a breeze to swap in.

Hi Ross
Great update, i will be grabbing some demos and trailers! I became a Plus subscriber yesterday, the full year. I set my PS3 to auto download last night, haven’t had it on since, but can’t wait to power it on a little later and see what goodies awaits me! Thank you for your good service to us users, i think it’s great that you reply to us and have a good quality dialouge with us. Cheers!

Hey Jnordg – thank you very much for your kind words. We can’t always make everyone happy all of the time but I’m glad you’re pleased with the service. Loads of good stuff still to come with Plus so I hope you enjoy all that just as much.

I read in the comments section on some other website that the LBP download you get with the PS+ subscription isn’t the full game. They said that it only had the story mode, there was no create or online components. Is there any truth to this?
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:48 pm by Ross McGrath
Nope, all lies. You should never believe anything written in a comments section. Except this one. Er… Yeah.
Let’s get this cleared up shall we?
The version of LBP you get frmo the store as a PLus subscriber is 100% the full version of your LBP title, exactly the same as your Blu-Ray version.
Question – why is it only 2GB? Good Question.
Answer – Because all the language data not for your territory has been completely stripped out from that version – no audio or assets from other languages (plus some clever compression) keeps the file size down.
So to summarise – full game available to download, don’t believe anything you read on the Internet. Except this…

this is one off the reasons playstation plus fails they can’t even give us any good normal updates let alone for all those subscribers
what year can we expect
ps1 classics
soul reaver
resident evil 1-2-3
Dino Crisis
Fade to Black
Final Fantasy Tactics
Grandia
or any of the first party ps1 games that we are still waiting for
and for PSN when can we expect
GundeadliGne
Gundemonium Recollection
Hitogata Happa
Alien Breed
considering most are alrdy out on the amrican store what year or century are we getting any same with the psp games considering you can’t even give us these in a normal service means playstation plus is a fail

Was Kind of hoping for Untold Legends:BotB and Untold Legends:TWC for the PSP Go. I am very disappointed in the support for the Go with full games (Mini’s and PSOne games are second in line for importance for me. I got a PSP to play PSP Games)
Can we have more of the PSP back catalogue converted please, especially with the poor turn out of newer games (also what is with the price of new PSP games…Metal gear for £32?? I can get PS3 games for that price in most places)
Also I joined Playstation+ and in my first month I downloaded…Wipeout..that is it…and well, hope it gets better ha ha
Posted on 30 June, 2010 at 4:24 pm by Ross McGrath
Well hey, WipEout is £12 worth of your £40 investment. That’s one month down, 11 to go – if you only make back about £10 worth of content each month that’s still 3 times the value of what you paid!
I have to admit I had to think very carefully about Peace Walker at that price myself, but honestly, that’s down to Konami – they are allowed to set whatever price they like. If it’s any consolation, if ANY PSP game is worth that asking price, it’s Peace Walker. It’s seriously great.

Ridge Racer, I’m afraid I have no idea, I’m sorry, but equally this is a Namco game and it’s up to them to submit the game to be published.
